Now I know the threads we were in weren't finished, but there were 3 threads for the September due dates, and I thought it would be nice to get everyone together and share their experiences.

Stats thread is here If you aren't on there, then get adding yourself.

Hopefully we can all get through the last stint together :)

I'm due 1st Sept, so one month to go, if the LO is punctual.

Ooh yes I had the baking bug too the last two weeks made vic sponge with cream &jam this week and finished off last bit today hidding in garden hanging out washing otherwise my DD would have been clambering for some too :o she was munching a banana and no I didn't feel guilty :)

My DH got the nesting bug today he has Hoovered, dusted cleared out loads of stuff into loft and assembled stand for moses basket. All feeling vreal now as it was our last wend before 3 become 4 as I booked in next Fri... oooh er. Even felt emotional watching X-factor tonight as won't see it next wk as should be hospital.

Hope you all have gd wend.

Sewmuch, you aren't the only one to wonder! :)

tiddley, the biscuits were fab :) Just like when I make them. And there is a batch of the mix waiting to go in the freezer so when LO gets here I can knock up a load of biscuits and make it look like I'm superwoman. I think hearing horror birth stories is fine, well it is for me, loads of people have horror births then shortly afterwards go on to have baby number 2.

Mmmm cake, what sort was it? I've been very lucky with heartburn, sadly not so lucky with other pregnancy things, but heartburn has been kind to me, and I've still got over half a bottle of gaviscon sitting in the bathroom.

I love the idea of operation get out of me.

I made homemade pizza for our tea, OMGG that was a faff and a half, slight problem with the base when it was doing it's rising thing, ended up with hands covered in sticky pizza dough, nearly cried at one point. But the end result was lovely. Possibly too much effort for me to do again in a hurry! Certainly will not be attempting it in the next few weeks before LO arrives, and won't try it until I know I have a good hour or two of free from feeding time. 2 hours from start to oven! Hmmm. OH was very appreciative of it though :)

Ssmile, x post there. Can't believe how quickly it's coming around for you. Nice to have an idea of when you are having LO, for me it's a case of any time now.

So everyone has been at the baking today!

You really are on the home stretch ssmile, days left for you and the first of the babies will be here :o

Aren't horror stories great? I remember SIL/BIL/MIL telling me tales of how it was all round the hospital when SIL went 10hrs drug-free and the staff were amazed because they'd never heard of anyone withstanding The Pain for so long (they always said The Pain like it should be capitalised and bolded), they were begging her to get the epidural and when she eventually did the registrar himself told her that she did the right thing.

Like you said, if it was the case then there'd be no second children (or third or fourth or eighth) in the world. I started trying again when DS was three months old :)

ssmile · 20/08/2011 22:32

It's been much less stressful this preg having more of a definite end date. But weird as my original edd was 12sept then revised to 3sept then got booked in for 26aug at 39wk mark. It's nice not to go through the endlessness of DD preg as I went 15d over and was SO fed up by then. I tried everything to start labour including eating whole pineapple and I hate pineapple, I ate it one chunk at a time followed by swig of water I remember it clearly :o I think what will be will be, not sure if any of the wives tales work. Best to be as calm relaxed and informed as you can be and sure we will all be fine. I didn't think I would do this again but this preg has been much easier to cope with than first as I've just gone with the flow more and trusted my body. Gosh must be late sounding all hippie :o off to bed now.....

Misty9 · 20/08/2011 22:55

wow - all this baking! I'm wheat intolerant so have to bake if I want nice goodies (although M&S do an AMAZING wheat free chocolate and cherry cake which I had to restrain myself from buying today :) ). Have a vague plan to make flapjack when I go into labour - both to distract myself and to have something to chomp on during/after Grin

sewmuch I'm about to finish my doctorate in clinical psychology. I've got the right corrections report now so no excuses next week....

ssmile ooh exciting - this time next week you'll have your new baby! then we can really moan on my sleep deprivation thread :)

38wks on Monday, and we're both ready to meet him now. Checked out the birth pool for fit and tap connectors etc today and have finished washing all his newborn clothes. Come on poppyseed! Fully aware it could be another 3 weeks yet though...

Hope all sleep well - well, as well as can be expected when this heavily pregnant Grin

WaspsAnkles · 21/08/2011 06:33

Wow, lots of backing going on indeed. Would love cake but not sure I can be bothered with the actual baking. Plus, with a heatwave hitting us over here in Germany I'll stay well away from the cooker and really close to the cool shower. Ice-cream for me!!!!!

Count-down for ssmile - must be getting very excited.

sewmuch I'm doing an MBA. So nothing as extensive as a doctorate, like yours Misty. Trying to get some more done in the early hours, as I know won't be able to concentrate when temperatures rise.

Went out for an early anniversary meal last night, just in case baby puts in an appearance before the 27th and we won't get the chance. DH has been extremely cute, staring at the bump, saying it will be strange to see me without in a few weeks/days time. He's also gone all domestic - tried to clean some windows yesterday, which wasn't very successful but the effort was very much appreciated, and planning on making stews, soups and lasagne for the freezer today.

Apart from the early days I seem to have been lucky in avoiding birth horror stories. Am fairly happy this is the first pregnancy and I don't know what to expect yet - one step at a time!

ssmile · 21/08/2011 08:20

Just been reading Septembers mother&baby magazine the article vindaloo to vava voom made me laugh as the poor woman in there did all the things i did to get baby to come on time! Check it out if you trying to kick start labour, like her I also went to 42+1 and ended up being induced :)
Going to do more baking today as DD wants to make cup cakes with pink icing and sprinkles, I trying to make the most of our 1:1 time whilst we still have it.

CBear6 · 21/08/2011 08:33

Happy anniversary Wasps (and I wish I had your dedication, I've yet to make a single thing for the freezer, we'll be relying on the local take-away at this rate!)

Misty, good luck with your doctorate!

Everyone is so full of busy and I'm sat here in my jammies eating crumpets. I'm in the bad books with DH who says he's not speaking to me after I woke him up at 3am crying my eyes out and asking him to fetch me some milk. I won't miss this acid reflux stuff, that's for sure.

jimmijam · 21/08/2011 09:29

Wow am impressed with everyones baking! A few days ago i fancied making choc cookies but was 2 lazy 2 go out and buy eggs, leaving me short of options, ended up making choc flapjacks, then on sat angel delight ice cream with added syrup, choc spread and raisins, mmm.
Wasnt sure if my waters started leaking yesterday but it didnt last long, and as with ds and dd they were broken 4 me am not expecting it 2 break at home
dh sed 2 me last night 'this time you'll do a big log" i then explained 2 him that u know u need to push wen u feel like u need to do a ginormous pooh, and have to push into ur bum like ur doing the biggest pooh in the world. He laughed, think he'd 4goten that!! :-)

sebs71 · 21/08/2011 10:20

Wow, forget the nesting instinct, late pregnancy must bring out the baking one!! I've baked 2 carrot cakes, a Victoria sponge and lemon drizzle loaf in the last two weeks!! Not all for us, have had people here, but DP is v pleased we've finally done kitchen as it's lovely to cook in and he's definitely reaping the rewards!!

Ssmile - wow not long... Good luck!!

I'm convinced I'll be late or I'll go this Thursday ... It's the 10th anniversary of my mum passing away and just think it would be fitting if she made her appearance then. But if thurs is quiet I'm settling in for being late. Midwife said she'll let me go 10 over - as I'm 40 I think placenta deteriorates quicker!

Think I'll go and get that mother&baby mag today though ... Looks a fun article!!

CBear6 · 21/08/2011 10:56

I good making plans to be the best method of induction! With DS I went into labour on SILs wedding day so missed the whole thing, I'd bought a new outfit and had my hair/nails done and was generally planning to be fabulous. SIL had booked it for the day before my due date so then so I'd be there "miserable and the size of a house".

I've got DS's birthday on Tuesday and plans to have one last day of spoiling my little fella with a Team Bear day out, just the three of us. Then on the 31st DH is taking me on a date, admittedly it's only to the cinema but I'm looking forward to it (and he's promised me a giant Tango Blast all to myself). And on the 10th is DH's birthday and I have plan to take him out for a meal, I've even got an overnight babysitter. So my predictions are Tuesday, the 31st, or the 10th :)

ssmile · 21/08/2011 12:53

cbear made me smile yes those plans sound the best way to induce baby :o
I having a pooped out lying on bed day. My DD made jigsaws next to me whilst DH cut the grass now he taken her out so I can nap. Just sooo tired today [hmmm]

Louplet · 21/08/2011 13:52

With both DS1 and DS2 labour started day after a reflexology session and sex (not at the same time!). With DS1 it was not intentional. He was 37+1. With DS2 it was (we abstained for last few weeks) and he was 40+3. Taking same approach this time once we reach 40 weeks.

feralgirl · 21/08/2011 15:32

Hi all, wow, you're all so busy! I have done sweet FA over the last few days and just been letting my family do everything for me Blush The idea of standing up and baking in my kitchen is just too hot and bothersome to think about tbh; it's been so humid and heavy here in Cornwall that I can't bear to think what it'd be like with the oven on as well.

In defence of my laziness, I am still being regularly sick in the afternoons; DS hung over my shoulder nearly crying with laughter at me retching yesterday, the little toad!

CBear, in answer to your question on Friday, I count the length of my labour with DS from when I woke up (2am) to when he was born (11am). I have no clue at what point I was 4cm dilated and my MWs have never questioned that mine was a 9hr labour (and that I was therefore very lucky for a first-timer!)

Had some really full-on BHs over the last few days. I've been almost convinced a couple of times that this was it but sadly it hasn't been the case Sad We've just checked the birth pool; dear god, it's bloody massive!

WaspsAnkles · 21/08/2011 18:44

CBear I feel your pain about reflux and heartburn. Have been eating Rennies like sweets. Has gotten a little bit better over the last few days - I asume because baby has dropped a little - but am still not free of it.

Had the midwife come round again today for final birth preps. She is full of predictions about what my birth experience will be like - a little suspicious, I must say. So she is certain that it'll be quick labour and that he'll be making an appearance in the next couple of weeks. She's also told DH that sex is off the menu, I assume to not encourage baby to come even earlier. Plus, she's put me on kind of a diet, saying I should only be eating soup and very light things and lots of fruit - no meats, not even salad in the evening as apparently that's hard to digest too. I'm gonna be quite cranky if I stick to that, I am sure. Thankfully she hasn't mentioned any choc biscuits :)

Conkertree · 21/08/2011 19:52

Hi everyone. Was on one of the many starter threads back at the very beginning (oh so long ago) under the name Greedychops as I wanted to stay anonymous for a bit. Have had a really busy time recently with my wee business, moving house and lots of other bits and bobs, and havent been connected to the internet for a bit so dropped out of the thread.

Back connected now though, and settling into our new surroundings, so am hoping to jump back in with you all, and share the last few weeks before the popping begins in earnest. Havent read back much yet, so I will do so now, and try to catch up a little bit.

Hope you are all feeling relaxed and happy though.

Is is dc3 for me, and have found it has dragged the least of the three so far, so hoping it carries on like that, although would be nice to get a few bits and pieces done soon, like a hospital bag etc. Anyway. Time to read up on you all.

jimmijam · 21/08/2011 20:38

Hi conkertree. This is dc3 for us too, i agree it hasnt dragged this time but i am desperate 2 meet little un, strangely almost doesnt feel like ive come 2 the end (almost) tho. Was thinking of trying reflexology and hope 4 an august baby (just cuz i like the sound of a summery august baby, despite buying lots of warm wintery clothes).
A relative does something with crystals and predicted baby being born on 27,8 or 9th august, she thinks midnight between 28th and 29th. She also predicted babys gender but wont say wot she thinks :-)
Will ur partners or any relatives b home with u after birth of baby? Dh has 2 weeks of hol at start sept but has been told he'll have 2 wait b4 he can take his paternity leave, so i may have time alone with ds, dd and newborn prob whilst hobbling around with stitches. I dont mind but could b interesting and would b nice 2 have someone around 2 help give 5 and almost 4yr old attention so theyre less likely to feel left out or become jealous.

tiddleypompom · 21/08/2011 21:00

It's official. I have a kung-fu champion in the making in my belly. Ow ow ow.

Not that I'm really complaining... :o

p.s. hats off to you all with children already, I salute you!

(hello conker, welcome back)

feralgirl · 21/08/2011 21:13

waspsankles, your MW sounds very full-on; mine are really hands-off in comparison. Anyone prescribing my diet to me atm would get very short shrift I have to say!

I realised just how much I was spending on Rennies and have been getting Gaviscon pills and medicine on prescription for ages now. I get through 60 of the pills and one of the big bottles of liquid in a week on average. I was the same with DS, and it didn't go straight away after I had him, in fact I've been prone to heartburn, even when not pg, ever since Sad

Welcome back Conker

Misty9 · 21/08/2011 22:14

you've all inspired me to do some baking :) so will be making (wheat free) gingerbread later in the week - we're having visitors next wkd so other people to help eat it.

Doctorate is almost finished - and I'm the world's best procrastinator so don't be too impressed Grin

I think someone asked about DH's job? He's not got anything else lined up and will be going freelance after having 6wks or so off with me and the baby. Kinda great timing in a way, and his redundancy package is quite good too :)

Can't believe how much stuff I have to wash before he arrives! All nappies, muslins, towels and rest of 0-3 clothes still to go yet. Better get used to lots of washing I suppose.... Gonna start batch cooking meals for the freezer too - any suggestions? Bolognese sauce and slow cooker meals so far on the list.

Anyone else drinking buckets but peeing very little (and VERY often!)??

CBear6 · 21/08/2011 22:18

The reflux is vile, like that awful taste/sensation at the back of the throat after being sick, and it's always at night. I wake up with a big gasp making it catch and then I end up coughing and retching and lots of other unpleasantness. I have Ritidine from my GP which helps but mostly it's just bluergh. I seem to be prone too since having DS feral, wonder if it's a post-pregnancy thing?

Two years ago tonight (well, at 1:30am) I woke up in labour with DS :) can't believe he's two on Tuesday - "I'm having a contraction, get away from me!", those were the words that introduced him to the world :o

Conkertree · 21/08/2011 22:19

Ok. Read through while watching Dragons Den and now Sex and the City. Think I have caught up with the general jist. Sounds like most people are having an ok time of it, with a few exceptions. The sickness doesnt sound like much fun feralgirl. Wonder how glimmer is doing too.

Have been having BH pretty strongly for a couple of weeks. Feel like the bump has dropped a bit in the last few days too. But expecting to go over - ds1 was 6 days over and ds2 9 over. Still, I'd better gt on with packing a bag and buying a crib etc soon.

Its funny that loads have been baking. Must be the nesting equivalent for September babies. I had a good friends wedding yesterday and made the cake. Had made the fruit bit in July, but made 108 cupcakes on Friday and iced them yesterday so was pretty tired t the actual wedding. Is very nice to be relaxing on the sofa tonight with dh rubbing my feet.

Tiddleypom - i'll join you with the kung fu baby. Think it enjoyed the curry we just had.

Jimmijam - my parents will be staying around the time, so they can keep ds1 and 2 entertained. Definitely would rather have someone around as you say to stop them feeling left out - do you have anybody that you can ask?

CBear6 · 21/08/2011 22:21

Yes Misty, I thought it was just me. And peeing is a trial, like the baby is pressing and making it hard to actually go even though I really need to. Have also developed the annoying habit of not needing a wee until I've walked a few paces. Case in point, a walk with DH and DS, decide I don't need to pee before we go. Get to end of the street and walking has made me realise I do. Get keys from DH, head home, then try again to go on the walk. Takes us two attempts to get anywhere now.

ssmile · 21/08/2011 22:34

Laughed at the peeing cbear & misty that's me too. Keep going out fine walk 2mins desparate for pee then got told off by my DD 'mummy you should have gone before we left' :o I do remember by DH being vsympathtic last time when he started carrying DD in front carrier as she used to juggle on his bladder 2mins after we left for a walk. Alas he has forgotten again so I get tutted for wanting to find yet another toilet....... then pee a t-spoon when I get there Grrr and whole cycle starts again.
