Ziggy Big hugs and lots of good vibes your way! Some days I feel so, so low, but at some point it will get better! Just savour every moment of happiness, and remember them when you feel low.

SnoozleDoozle · 18/07/2011 18:07

sorry to hear about those who are feeling low.

I haven't worked out yet how many weeks I have left at work, I think I should do that, it might give me a wee boost!

I'm a little bit excited because DH and I were discussing finances at the weekend and worked out that we might, just might, be able to afford a new kitchen. We've been in our house 8 years, and have always hated the kitchen but recently its become clear that it isn't just 'not to our taste' its actually falling apart (its at least 15 years old) and suddenly it seems like more of a need than a want, which puts a whole different slant on it. We have no plans to move any time soon, so if we can afford it, it makes sense to do it. So I'm quite excited about that, although don't want to get my hopes up, in case the costs spiral out of control and we realise that we can't afford it yet!

goldmaple · 18/07/2011 18:15

Think we will combine the birth announcement with the baptism invites about 3 months later. Not even thinking about Christmas yet. Haven't even been able to make a big purchase of crib or stroller even though there is a huge sale going on! Feel like I'll pick the wrong one I guess and then have regret. But once I get going I'll prob spend way too much!

cali glad everything was ok

collie my bottom has also at least doubled, think I might put cream on it to prevent stretch marks. Love the names Isaac and Noah

kate love the name taylor (actually considering it for a girl)

I also love the name Bretton for a little girl but I've never met anyone with that name. What does everyone think? (be honest:)) Its really hard to find a name to agree on with DH.

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 18/07/2011 18:36

Hey Ziggy, welcome back, hopefully you'll feel better now and be able to enjoy the next couple of months, till these bumps come along!!!

I have horrible horrible heartburn, it's making me ill and the taste of gaviscon is so horrendous, it's worse than the heartburn - sob!!!

On a positive note, bought a moses basket and it's already been dispatched, so finally getting started on buying for this little one :)

SnoozleDoozle · 18/07/2011 19:31

boo to heartburn. But, am I the only person in the known universe who actually likes the taste of Gaviscon? Gotta be aniseed though, not mint. Texture is slimey, I admit, but I'd go so far as to say I quite like the taste......(slinks off to hide, in fear of being banished from the thread.....)

Caliphora · 18/07/2011 19:35

Snoozle I love Gaviscon. I have to take the Double Action stuff, and no other brands will do, but it's the best thing since sliced bread. And it tastes nice.

goldmaple · 18/07/2011 19:52

twojack I hate gaviscon! Think it may be the texture?! Wish I liked it snoozle and cali Envy of you both:)

Folicacid · 18/07/2011 20:18

Gaviscon makes me want to heave...but I need it, boy do I need it.

I'm in major nesting mode, have got a joiner coming round tomorrow to estimate some work and painter and decorator to phone to decorate room (although OH taking great exception to this). I just want work done as quickly as possible with as little fuss as possible and think it's worth paying for, rather than at stressful snail's pace.

Ho hum!

Staceroo · 18/07/2011 20:56

Wrote a post this morning and mn crashed when I tried to post it! Grrr!

H007 re the M4 meet, Bristol sounds good. Are you talking about the Cabot ciircus shopping centre? Is that near the train station? I do drive, but drive so much for work I like a rest at weekends - so somewhere near the station would be good!

gold Bretton is the name of a place in Peterborough, so sounds wierd as a name to me... but if I try to ignore that I think I quite like it!

I've not experienced the dreaded heartburn yet, but dh does make me drink a pint of milk before bed every night so maybe thats helping! I am getting woken up with cramp in my legs at night recently though! That really sucks! My yoga lady said the yoga will help!

Hope everyone is feeliong happy! (or happier if having a bad time! ) xx

sunshinehugs · 18/07/2011 20:57

Oh yes we are getting a man in!! We did the living room together and had huge rows (mainly because I'd done it before and was advising him e.g. how not to put massive creases in the expensive wallpaper) , then he got bored and I ended up doing a load of work while he sat on his arse watching the world cup. We laugh about it now but don't fancy going back there, plus it took ages!

bumpandisaacsmum · 18/07/2011 20:59

Gaviscon thankfully something I haven't needed though think I would suffer as the smell is enough to make me heave!!

ziggi am glad that you are feeling a little better; it is horrible feeling so low, take time to rest and do things at your own pace.

cookie I too have started (& nearly finished) the Christmas list - just need to start buying it now. My list consists of:

  • crafts made by DS & baby for family & close friends
  • baked goods for family & close friends
  • annual pass to attraction of some sort for DS (ideas for good attraction for 6yr old boy in/near Berkshire
  • "normal" stuff for DS (new pjs, slippers, toothbrush, colours, pants/socks etc; all stuff that needs to be brought anyway)
  • baby will get "old" toys & a new outfit wrapped (more for DS to see baby getting gifts too)
  • DP........haven't got a clue,
  • older nephews have lego
  • neice has beads set
  • baby nephew unsure at the mo Anyone else can have a homemade card and that'll do
goldmaple · 18/07/2011 23:18

staceroo I didn't know that it was a place, must brush up on geography... but I will always be in Canada so don't think anyone will know that. Are your leg cramps restless leg? I have been getting that pretty badly and stretching does help but if you find something better let me know.

HappyHollydays · 19/07/2011 05:15

Just a quick post from me as I am exhausted and need to try & sleep.

Heartburn? Already? Oh no, I had that with DD and it was a nightmare. I thought it kicked in later than this though. Maybe I'll be lucky this time...

Gaviscon...hmmm...by the time DD was born I just had a bottle at the side of the bed, I wouldn't even turn the light on, I'd just drink it from the bottle. Funny how heartburn goes the minute they're born.

I prefer gaviscon over rennies. Yuk! Chalky, gross, little tablets. At least you can feel Gaviscon working

I think my birth pool is coming tomorrow! I'll post pics on FB once I've inflated it. I am a bit scared by it's size.,,,

I'm off with DD tomorrow so may get to post while she sits next to me & draws. Got to try & sleep now before she wakes...

HappyHollydays · 19/07/2011 05:19

Oh & a quick funny story. A woman I know who is having her first dc thought she was 32 weeks based on the midwives notes. It turns out they wrote the wrong date down and she's actually 38 weeks. She said she nearly died when the midwife said "you could go any day now". Grin

Oh imagine finding out you were 6 weeks further on...

cookie9 · 19/07/2011 05:28

Would love to have 6 less weeks to go. Third trimester seems solo long!

voodoomunkee · 19/07/2011 07:16

Morning, wow 6 weeks further on? Could go for that, would mean I was 30 weeks spot on today! However instead I will happily go for the fact that I am 24 weeks spot on today instead!

Gaviscon - YAK. Makes me throw up instantly. Have the worst heartburn at times but no way could I face Gaviscon so I drink milk, then water, then cry... ha.

I want to actually order some baby stuff but its a funny old month moneywise as had to pay for a trip for my daughter for school, when she goes back in sept so not got any spare cash at all.

Never mind, right better go get ready, spent the last 30 mins reading the Phone hacking drama's etc instead of doing anything useful! Have a great day all :)

Ziggimajiggi · 19/07/2011 08:02

Awww, thanks you lovely ladies for being...well...lovely!

6 weeks further on?! Imagine that!

Has anyone here given birth or laboured in a birthing pool? I'm well up for it, just wondered what it was like.

PMA: Finish work early tonight and I'm going to yoga. Can't wait!

There have been loads of spiders in our house over the last couple of days...anyone else having a wee outbreak or should I call pest control? Maybe it's something to do with the mammoth spring clean we just had :)

Hope everyone has a great day

xxx

Ziggimajiggi · 19/07/2011 08:03

p.s Bumpandisaacsmumn - I'm with you on the home made goodies for presents. Trying to remember when stir-up sunday is so I can get my Christmas cakes on the go.

PamSco · 19/07/2011 08:30

Ladies ladies, all this organisation! I feel shamed. Christmas may have to be an Amazon special. At least I'll be in to recieve them.

Ziggi hope you enjoy yoga tonight, I was yoga-ing last night and we did facial massage on each other. Very relaxing but I wished I'd had warning to pluck my eyebrows :)

PamSco · 19/07/2011 08:49

Here's a question. If you had your 40th birthday the week after you had given birth what would you ask for?

I have no clue how much I'll want to celebrate!

Missyraines · 19/07/2011 09:15

Snoozle our house, which we've been in for three and a half years needed doing from top to bottom. We did our kitchen first and may I suggest Ikea? We bought all the units for £1500 and DH fitted. Although you could just get someone in to fit yours if you don't have the time. All the 'kitchen' places were quoting £10,000+ I was being a snob at first and was like "IKEA?" but I'm plesently surprised. You can taylor them to your needs/room and it's not bad quaility.
We are having new gutters, soffits, cladding and porch this week. Windows next month then a new bathroom. Then the house will be (almost) done.

DH manged to feel junior moving today. A very special moment.

PMA today - I'm going for a long walk in a foreset near us.

Folicacid · 19/07/2011 09:39

Christmas shopping? who knows what we'll do. Probably online or maybe whatever can be found in sainsbury's Grin.

PamSco If it was my 40th a week after baby born I'd ask for champagne, red wine, blue cheese and a med/ rare steak. Wink I'd also maybe ask for a voucher for a lovely lunch out to be used in a few months time. Spose you may well still be pregnant though if baby is past due date?

I'm getting heartily sick of the bio oil cult that seems to have taken over every friend and acquaintance. Seem to keep having the same conversation eith people, it goes something like this...

Them: Are you using bio oil for stretchmarks, I used it every day and didn't get one stretchmark

Me: Didn't really like the smell so I'm using the sanctuary stretch mark oil every day

Them: Oh...

Them: ...not using bio oil?

Me: Nope, I suppose oil is oil and it's down to your genes too

Them: It was the bio oil. Get bio oil, I used it every day and didn't get one stretchmark

ARRRRGH!

H007 · 19/07/2011 09:49

Folic Bio-oil is a load of tosh, that comes from my consultant when I had plastic surgery. Any oil/moisturiser will help but stretch marks are stretch marks and there is nowt you can do about it. Stand your ground :) I am using the body shop cocoa butter it smells yummy and feels lush...

Staceroo I have no idea about places in Bristol however I know that at least one mumsnetter comes from there so they are probably best to select the location. I will just be happy to meet up and eat cake :)

Random question, I know I am probably freaking out for no reason however Bean feels different, I cannot feel her moving as much and it feels lighter. I have been feeling her for just over a week and the amount has been steadily increasing however I was off work last week and wondered if this made it more obvious to me, back at work this week and yesterday and today it has been a lot less... I just don't know if it is something I should be worrying about or whether I am being busier and thus not noticing or she is hiding behind my anterior placenta. Any advice?

Have to admit as I wrote this she kicked me again...

mashpot · 19/07/2011 10:40

Morning, H007 think a few people have commented on difference in movement as you grow and baby has more room to move for a while.

I feel a bit of a fool as I booked an appt at the GP this morning because I have such a bad pain across the bottom of my bump. I was heading to work and thought I'd see how I got on but the pain was so much worse when walking that I went to the docs instead but she said it was ligament pain and so nothing she could do. She did a urine test but that looked fine which I'm obviously pleased about but can't believe how bad the pain is. I'm still really suffering with backache too and have an appt with an osteopath this afternoon so the GP advised that I mention the ligament pain to them too so hopefully I will be feeling more positive later. In the meantime I won't have much time in the office today between all these appointments!

Folicacid · 19/07/2011 10:49

HOO7 i don't think it's a worry yet. I'm at home today so have checked my NHS guide to movements leaflet- it says at 18-24 weeks as long as your baby was growing well at scan then you should not worry. Talks about body weight, positive on placenta and baby's position as reasons not to feel movements.
