A nice cosy place to accommodate our growing bumps and little wrigglers.

OK ladies - thoughts please.

I'm 30 weeks and had a scan on Monday which showed baby lying transverse with his head by my right ribs.
not worried (nor were sonographer) as I'm still early days but I have no idea if he's moved. I'm getting the odd firm thump on my ribs now, which suggests he has turned but I'm also getting lots of lighter jabs down by my pelvis. I'm not stressed but just wondered how on earch you work out where the damn baby is located?!! Grin

GetDownYouWillFall · 08/09/2011 15:16

Did you see my post before pippa's MRsA? There is a link to spinning babies and a section on belly mapping.

Pippaandpolly · 08/09/2011 17:08

I second that website having had a good nosy - though my attempt to 'bellymap' was not very successful!

MrsP81 · 09/09/2011 15:19

Hey ladies!

I had a quick skim through the belly mapping article as well, didn't read it properly but it looked pretty useful. I had MW appointment on Monday and she confirmed that baby is the way up that I thought she was. She is head down, lying on my left and I also get kicks on the right so that sounds simlar to you getdown. So fingers crossed yours isn't back to back! Also my bump measured a bit small but this is because the head is 2/5 engaged. Was a bit Shock as I didn't expect that at 33 weeks but probably doesn't mean much.

I've been at home today and yesterday with a horrible sore throat and cough. Not something I would usually take time off for so I feel like a bit of a wimp but I just don't have the energy to go to work, grow a baby and fight illness all at once!

So now there are only 3 weeks of work left, hurrah!

GetDownYouWillFall · 09/09/2011 15:52

Just had some pink blood when I wiped!!! Do you think this was my show? There was a bit of mucus, but not a big lump. I thought it was supposed to be a big stringy lump?? [trying not to get my hopes up too much]

Iwish · 09/09/2011 16:15

Hi ladies.

Long time no see. Sorry I havnt been on for so long. MIL doing my head in, BP playing up, fat feet, SPD and baby's heart rate a bit too fast! It's all going on here!!

Finally finished work last week so this week is that first week of freedom.

mrsa sounds like your little one may just be head down. My little man is head down but sort of on his side so I get bigger jabs which must be his feet or knees on my left by my ribs and tiny jabs which I think must be his hands by my pelvis.

getdown not long for you now, how are you feeling?

mrsp I hope you feel better soon. It will take it out of you growing baby and being sick - put your feet up!

pippa lol at the bladder control! I find that I do have the odd little leakage every now and again, lovely isn't it :)

Waves to split nix ladyg newyears jaggy and terrys

I have a question for you ladies...
I was lay in bed last night and got a v sharp pain which seemed to come up through my cervix then pain into my belly from below my bump to about the middle of my bump. It only lasted about 10-20 seconds. but then I woke up about a hour later with what felt like quite sore period pains in the bottom of my back (the type that feel warm if that makes sense) I got up out of bed and it went away.
Do you think that could have been baby dropping? I've felt nothing at all this morning and he has been wriggling as normal.

Iwish · 09/09/2011 16:17

Stupid screen didn't refresh properly!

Oooh getdown it could have been. Maybe your plug has been slowly coming away so you only had a little now? Or maybe there is more to come...
Do you feel like anything else is going on?

OP posts:
Pippaandpolly · 09/09/2011 16:32

Getdown that definitely sounds like your plug! It doesn't have to come away in one piece I don't think-might happen gradually. Keep an eye out for water!!

Wrt sharp pains=baby dropping, I'm not sure...sounds totally plausible and I have heard some women say it was quite noticeable when it happened. Bean's apparently 2/5 engaged and I haven't noticed any difference but I think it just depends...maybe ask midwife to be sure?

Pippaandpolly · 09/09/2011 16:33

Sorry-that last bit was at iwish!

Iwish · 09/09/2011 17:13

Thanks pippa I hope it is little man getting into position. I'll see what the midwife says on Wednesday as I see her weekly now.

How are you feeling? Anything exciting to report?

OP posts:
GetDownYouWillFall · 09/09/2011 18:01

Sorry you are feeling rough with a cold MrsP don't feel bad about staying at home, you need to rest to fight these things, esp with a slightly compromised immune system while pregnant. Don't think anyone at your work will think any less of you for that.

Iwish it could have been baby dropping maybe... or it could have been ligament pain. I think that can feel quite sharp sometimes. Baby is putting on weight fast in these last weeks and I think quite a lot of stretching is still going on. So it could have been that, but I'm no expert. Sorry to hear his HB is a little fast.... what do they think is causing it? Glad to hear you've finished work, it's a good feeling isn't it.

thanks pippa I didn't realise the plug could come away in stages, so maybe it was the start of it? Or perhaps it's been in the process of coming away for a few days. I've had a few lumps of jelly ish mucus (nice) but no blood, until today. Anyway, I just have to wait and see!! I keep telling myself, that even if it wasn't the plug, this baby is going to come out sooner or later.... I am 40 weeks on wednesday. Going to go to a drop in clinic and beg for a sweep I think Grin

Iwish · 09/09/2011 18:13

Yeh getdown it's a fab feeling to be off work! Glad to be able to relax and put my feet up
Strangely his HB has calmed down when I was sent in to be monitored. It was up to 200 bpm when I was at the midwife! Poor little man. My bp keeps going up too which is rubbish. they said they might induce me if it doesn't settle down.
I hope something happens for you soon, bet you can't wait now. I'm hoping little man will come earlier than 40 weeks as I'm fed up already at 36+4!
Grin at begging for a sweep!!

I have put a pic up of my bump at 36 weeks, I look huge!! Ihave also put up a pic of my v swollen foot :(

LadyGoneGaga · 09/09/2011 18:17

Getdown i think the plug for me was like a really, really thick gob of snot. I don't get the "show" until the day of actual labour which is more like EWCM streaked with blood. Exciting!!!

Pippaandpolly · 09/09/2011 18:20

Iwish - your foot!! You poor thing! Is that pregnancy swelling or did you twist it? Lovely bump though Grin

Nothing exciting to report here. One more thing to be paranoid about though - having got up for the loo about 8 times every night for the past couple of months, last night I was only up twice and the night before only once. Depending on my mood this means either a) something is going drastically wrong or b) I am about to go into labour. c) it means nothing at all, is a possibility though I suppose Wink

GetDownYouWillFall · 09/09/2011 18:20

Ah thanks lady I thought the plug and the show were one and the same!! Shows how much I know Blush

GetDownYouWillFall · 09/09/2011 18:26

Iwish your foot looks so sore!! Poor you, how can you walk on it??? Sad

GetDownYouWillFall · 09/09/2011 18:27

pippa I wouldn't worry, baby has probably slightly changed position or something. I actually had a night a few nights ago where I didn't get up for a wee AT ALL Shock Shock Shock That freaked me out a bit too!

Iwish · 09/09/2011 19:07

That's just pregnancy swelling pippa! I started swelling about 2 months ago but now it really doesn't go down. The hospital say that the swelling I have in my feet is also in my belly Shock. They sent me for a growth scan at 34 weeks thinking I was growing a massive baby but they said he was just right at 5lb 6oz ish so I just have a v swollen tummy lol.
I know what you mean about the weeing, I'm up about 6/7 times a night too. V annoying.

getdown it's not too bad to walk on but I just can't fit anything on my feet apart from a pair of crocs a size too big lol!

LadyGoneGaga · 09/09/2011 23:14

Oooh, Iwish - just looked at your foot picture. And I thought mine were bad - they did go down fairly quickly after the birth thankfully.

Iwish · 10/09/2011 09:38

Lady they look awful dont they, v uncomfortable when trying to bend down. I'm hoping the go down pretty quickly after birth. Don't really fancy buying a load of new shoes! Grin

Pippaandpolly · 10/09/2011 12:17

Quick question-would I know if my waters had gone? Have been having a lie in and there is a wet patch (Blush sorry for TMI). Really don't think I've weed myself. But don't feel remotely different and didn't notice anything happening.

Pippaandpolly · 10/09/2011 13:06

I have concluded they haven't. Lay down for half an hour on the advice of Google and nothing, so fingers crossed. Still confused though Hmm

Iwish · 10/09/2011 13:17

Maybe it could have been a build up of vaginal fluid pippa? Can't really think of anything else other than a slight wee accident Grin

Im starving!!! We have friends coming over to help DP take stuff to the tip and we have very nicely offered to do bacon butties before they start. They better hurry the hell up and get here before I eat my own arm!
