I have to confess I've not read the whole thread but I wonder if anyone has suffered low blood pressure? Mine has been on the low side throughout this pregnancy, and I'm not sure what effect that might have (I'm 30 weeks). At my last ante natal my doctor said my bp was in my boots (her phrase)!

I read a report that suggested a link between low bp and premature birth, but my docs haven't mentioned anything. It is only a suggestion and the report states that their sample had other issues going on too which could have seriously skewed the findings.

I'm extremely tired the whole time but can't sleep, even when comfortable.

LifeOfKate · 28/05/2011 20:58

Greige - I have low blood pressure and the main problem is I will get very dizzy and nearly faint unless I lie down. Had it last pregnancy and so glad I'm not working this time as I spent a lot of time lying down on my office floor!!
Even if there is a link with premature birth, it doesn't mean it will happen, I went to 42 weeks with DS Hmm

KTisPG · 28/05/2011 21:49

Hi all

Well the meeting with my boss/line manager when reasonably well. Neither of them acknowledge the issue at the moment, but they have both committed to making sure I have enough work to keep me going before I finish (am aiming for end of July) and to having a discussion about what my exact role will be when I go back. So while I'm not exacly thrilled about how it went and the lack of acknlowledgement, at least the future is looking better.

Daisy I'm with you. From what I understand the evidence in GBS is not conclusive anyway. I was chatting to someone today who was colonised and still had a homebirth, so I'd say stick to your guns, at least for now. You can always change your mind later, and go into the delivery suite, but you can't do it the other way round IYSWIM.

I'm now 99.9% sure I'm going to insist on homebirth again. I'll go and look at the birth centre (it's opened since I had DS) and I guess if my GTT shows diabetes I might have a fight on my hands, but growth scans are not conclusive anyway as they can't tell for sure what is baby, waters and placenta. Given that I've had 2 already at 9lb7, it's not going to be small :)

Greige · 28/05/2011 21:50

Thanks LifeofKate. I'm glad I'm not so bad as that, it must be hard, especially if you are looking after other dcs.

I must remember that Google isn't always my friend when I need info :o

The research I mentioned really wasn't conclusive, I think they realised that the sample was drawn from a lower socio-economic background and there were a lot of other issues at play.

If you want to take a look yourself, it was an American study - aje.oxfordjournals.org/content/153/7/642.full

I've decided to totally ignore it :0

aStarInStrangeways · 28/05/2011 22:27

Greige I have low bp as well. It's always been pretty low, and like LifeofKate it tends to just make me feel faint and dizzy on occasion. I also get really tired, although that could be down to any number of things I suppose. Certainly none of the mws or other HCPs I've seen have been troubled by it.

KLou yes, lots of discharge here. Pregnancy is so glamorous Grin

MrsStevo hooray for those wriggly babies! And double hooray for finishing work.

MrsVidic arf at your response to being told you'd have to stay in overnight...mine was exactly the same Grin

LifeOfKate · 29/05/2011 17:25

Star - yes, none of the midwives I've mentioned it to have been that bothered either, quite frustrating when it is quite debilitating! I've started doing a lot of shopping online as don't want to risk fainting in the queue with DS sat in the trolley!

WinterLover · 29/05/2011 17:30

Hello all, will try to catch up in a few min.

Had my 4D scan yesterday - would recommend Batford Studios in Lincoln if there is anyone in that area. They were lovely, very cost effective and treated DSD like an adult, including her within the scan. Put a few pics on MN profile

Question/Advice

Im reh neg 1st pregnancy, now Im sure ive read (although never told about it from midwife) that if you have fall/bump/bleed you need an anti d jab. Now I had one on 6th May due to bleed, had my routine one on 24th May.

Now today i got taken off my feet (in a camcorder moment) my by lovely cocker spaniel.. was not impressed that DP and Mum had to lift me up. Now I went down with a bang straight to my knees, felt mini me kick maybe twice since then, so at the min trying to get baby moving.

I wondered if any of you know if id need another anti d for 'silent' bleeds? I knw il probably have to ring L&D again but if I do they will keep me in over night as its a sunday as no1 in pregnancy assesment centre today.

KLou111 · 29/05/2011 17:51

Gorgeous Winter!! Lovely photos. Can't comment on the whole anti d thing as am positive, but I had a fall on my right side a couple of weeks ago and found a icy cold drink or chocolate got bubba moving :) (hasn't seemed to have stopped since!!!)

Thanks KLou I cried at the scan. Showed my grandparents the DVD today and my grandad reckons the baby has the look of his brother when he was born.. everyone thinks its a boy.. hehe they have got 12 weeks till they find out Grin its driving everyone mad!!

Im just cooking tea, so at least ive eaten if they want me to have the jab, im sure I have up to 72 hours to have the jab if needed... im there on Tues for scan and consultant appointment so will let them know that.

impatient1 · 29/05/2011 18:12

Hi Winter, I had my 28 week anti d on may 18th, but had to have another today after having a small amount of bloodstained show. I would ring your local delivery suite and ask, It has to be given within 60 hours, so be guided by them. Good luck xx

WinterLover · 29/05/2011 18:36

Thanks impatient Il give them a ring and ask. I didnt want to 'react' over nothing Hmm I havent had a bleed or anything like that yet but will still give them a call.

alibaba76 · 29/05/2011 23:36

Finally got a cot - 2nd hand from a friend. Now to the next big headache (hopefully the last)....what kind of mattress???

Does anyone have any advice? What have you bought and why? Any good/bad experiences to share?

WinterLover · 30/05/2011 00:29

7 hours on maternity ward and I'm home in bed with a cuppa :)

After 5 hours they decided they would do a blood test to see if I was making anti bodies and if so ring me tomoro to go have anti d jab...

I've been kicked non stop since they put me on a monitor at 8.30!!!

WinterLover · 30/05/2011 00:31

5 hours I meant :( and after 3 hours they did bloods... Think I need sleep

Firawla · 30/05/2011 01:17

awwww winterlover lovely scan pics, can see the babies features soo clearly! sorry about your fall :( hope your okay!

littlemisslozza · 30/05/2011 08:44

Hope all is ok Winterlover.

Alibaba we bought a sprung mattress when we were expecting DS1 and it is lasting really well, will be on it's 3rd child and has years left in it. It has a cover that zips off and goes in the washing machine and seems supportive and comfortable. Something I have noticed about foam mattresses is that they tend to get a dent in the middle where baby lies so probably fine for one child but it is recommended that you buy new for the next.

WinterLover · 30/05/2011 09:13

Thankyou, all is ok. Hardly had any movement since I fell to going to hospital. As soon as I got there at 7.30 I started getting constant kicks and thats how it stayed until I fell asleep. Just got to wait to see if they call me now.

Think doggy knows he did wrong as he's been extra loving today Hmm typical male Grin

All thats wrong now if I ache all over, and hips hurt but that I can live with :)

davidtennantsmistress · 30/05/2011 10:24

HI all, quick stop from me to bring things to the top again until tonight as am on my way out with DS for the kids club @ the pics & a sandwich in a posh pub (aka the harvester lol)

winter - you get those feet up today & take things easy.

neverlookback · 30/05/2011 10:41

hi all, quick question to anyone who knows the answer!! after making an amazing £300 on ebay selling old motorbike bits of dp's out of the garage i can finally spend it all on baba things!! So im going to get a gliding crib and was going to get the bumper set that matches from mamas and papas but before i waste £45 quid are you not supposed to use the bumpers in cribs??? i know your not supposed to use them in cots but is that when baby can move around more??? thanks ladies xxx

KLou111 · 30/05/2011 16:47

Ali think we're getting this mattress :)

Never not sure about crib bumpers, won't be using one in our cot though as MW advised against it :)

SelinaDoula · 30/05/2011 16:57

Had quite a stressful weekend, very hormonal but think me and DP needed a big heart to heart so probably for the best.
Had a little bleeding today, rand delivery suite but as its brown not red and we dtd yesterday they are not worried.
I have a moses basket and an Amby hammock bed, otherwise will be co-sleeping and then baby will go in with my DD in a bunk bed I think.

KTisPG · 30/05/2011 17:27

Hope you're feeling better Winter

I'm coming down with a cold and feeling very sorry for myself. Have my GTT tomorrow and then 28 week mw appointment on Wednesday. For those who had GTT, how long did it take to get your results? (Sorry, I'm sure this has been on before but I can't remember!)

Never I have a gliding crib and don't use a bumper - I think the advice is not to, but as you say baby will not be moving much, so no need for bumper IYSWIM

WinterLover · 30/05/2011 17:30

Im feeling much better thanks, got my growth scan tomoro followed by consultant appointment so feeling calm as I will talk to them about my fall too... the ward didnt put any notes in my care plan/hand held notes Hmm

aStarInStrangeways · 30/05/2011 17:35

KT I had a routine mw appt the day after my GTT, and she phoned for the results and wrote in my notes that they were normal. A couple of days later I got the letter saying I've got GD Hmm

alibaba76 · 30/05/2011 17:35

What about all this "airflow" and "coolmax" etc etc re mattresses - is it just a con??
