Morning Ladies - thank goodness it's the weekend. I've found this passing week to be soooooo tiring (probably as it's the school holidays here and had both kids every minute of every day with no respite).
Think we're going to go away in the caravan around Easter. I'm a bit worried about all the work involved in taking the caravan away too - has anyone else tried this while pregnant? Is this a terrible idea?

Hope everyone is well today.
31+1
and squeeeeeeeeeeze

sasamaxx · 09/04/2011 09:44

lol - now I'm putting myself a week behind - 32+1 I mean Blush
(will I ever get it right?)

NurseSunshine · 09/04/2011 11:31

Just get your DP to do it all while you sit back and enjoy the holiday sasamaxx Grin Though of course you could interject "helpfully" when he's not doing it right.

The weekend is here! Hope it's as sunny for all of you as it is for me :) Don't forget your sunscreen ladies.

crazychic141187 · 09/04/2011 18:40

i sat in the backgarden sorting out baby vests for about 20 mins today and ive got a small amount of sun burn! typical! when i want to catch the sun and sit in it for hours i dont change colour yet when im sittin doing something else i turn red!

curiouselle · 09/04/2011 20:13

crazychic rub on the aftersun! At least it is lovely weather, I washed more baby clothes today and spent too much time watching them on the line going awwww to myself! Luckily DH did the same so I didn't feel too daft!

sasamaxx as long as the bed is big enough for your pregnancy pillow arrangement then go for it with nursesunshines advice and thank you for the squeeze reminder - I never EVER remember!

Joannezipan · 09/04/2011 20:31

curiouselle I never remember either! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have also been washing baby clothes today. DH thinks the baby is going to have to live in odd socks as it's feet are so tiny it has the potential to loose its socks between to floor boards!

I've ticked a few more items off the "before the baby comes" list today, including buying a whirly washing line. Now I just need to get it planted and I will have space for 4 lots of washing outside...that's right FOUR! (I'm slightly worried about the fact i'm getting excited about a washing line.) AND it was a bargain, 50% off at homebase, plus 15% off at the till - bonus! And I got some very cute little sleep suits from TKMaxx, but i had a complete baby brain moment and picked one of them up in a massive size. I'll have to go back and change it tomorrow. One I'd done that and the food shop there was no choice but to spend the rest of the afternoon with my feet up... :) All that was missing was a Wine, ah well not long to go now.

I've ordered a cot... this one and my lovely friend is going to come and visit with her DS and her lovely carpenter husband to modify so it will function as a bedside cot to fit our very awkward bed Grin

takethatlady · 10/04/2011 09:46

sasa I can agree with not eating Nestle on moral grounds. But on pure chocolatey loveliness grounds, we are never going to agree :) Have a lovely holiday if you go. We wanted to book a cheap break away yesterday, but there seems to be no such thing as a cheap break anymore - I thought a last second city break could be £100-150 each or something - last year we went to Paris on one of those top secret hotel deals for £99 and it was a 4* hotel on the Champs Elysee. But nope - everything was at least £250.

The reason we thought we could book was because I put a fiver on Ballabriggs to win the Grand National at 18:1, so I get £95! Whoop whoop! I never win anything!

Not sure about caravans. I'd go with others' advice and not bother with the work I don't have to do and make DH do the rest Grin I say go away - it's dawning on us it's the last time we'll get a break together on our own for years!

Lovely cot kara :)

sasamaxx · 10/04/2011 10:30

Ta for the encouragement re the caravan - yeah I think I'll just have to be a sloppy caravaner and take it easy, while barking awning-erection instructions to DH. The bed is massive so no prob room-wise Grin
I actually much prefer tenting it, but no way will I be able to do all that bending/sleeping so low down and having to get up again and all that.

Love the cot Kara

Fantastic about your Grand National win TTL - I completely forgot to put a bet on - typical!

Another gorgeous day here - yesterday we visited a castle and DS wore a full knights outfit (obsessed with castles and knights at the moment) - he was so cute. Will be taking it easy today I think!

jasmine51 · 10/04/2011 12:52

sasa a tip about caravan sleeping...if its the type with a bed against a wall, make sure you sleep on the 'open' side and not up against the wall...climbing over DH delicately for one of the inevitable night time loo visits loses its fun after the first couple of times!

Grrr, having a completely unreasonable rant about a cot I have been given for free. Lovely sentiment and all that but it truly is hideous, completely different to how it was described to me. So disappointed and feel really bad for wanting to get it out of my house asap...and how the hell do I explain to the donator when they see whatever one I get instead? Hmm, I'm such an ungrateful cow.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 10/04/2011 13:12

Today I wish I had a private back yard. The weather is so lovely and mild, but can't be arsed a) going to the playground as I know it will be packed, crowded and loud (and more than 2 steps from by front door) or b) going down to the communal yard because that would involve talking to the neighbours (most likely the ones who look down their noses at us for only renting and daring to show our faces out there, rather than the ones we like) and it's also more than 2 steps away from my front door at the other end of the terrace. At least I have all of the windows open.

For some reason last night DH suddnely announced we needed to have a serious talk about names! We've talked about it many times, but he suddenly seemed to want to pin down actual names. Needless to say by the end of it, we are still no closer to having a clue Grin

Hope you've all been having a lovely weekend. Think I might try for a nap now.

Bear
jasmine51 · 10/04/2011 15:39

Confessions feel free to come and sit in my back garden, I promise I wont talk to you Grin

sasamaxx · 10/04/2011 18:53

Oh good thinking Jasmine - what a nightmare that would be Shock I do normally sleep on the inside as well. I desperately need a new camping chair as well as the ones we have are too low and saggy in the middle and I could hardly get out of it when I tried - need a higher, firmer, more upright arrangement I think.

curiouselle · 10/04/2011 18:53

I sat out for just the time it took to eat lunch and trifle and am now a fetching shade of pink hmmmm english skin! Blush

sasa I like tenting it more as well and we got a new tent last year, but getting out of a normal height bed is hard enough, I would need a small crane like contraption with sleeping on an air bed!

confessions I suggest magazine right infront of your face, dark sunglasses and headphones for avoiding talking to your neighbours! or fart loudly then apologise and start talking about pregnancy symptoms and your birth plan in detail to clear a nice neighbour free zone Ha ha Grin

jasmine51 my solution to similar cot problem was telling donor that my Mum really wanted to buy the cot (can't say no to the Grandma) and that they have taken donor cot at their house for when babysitting said beautiful baba!

Am off to drop back rub hints to DH - it's worth a go right?!

jasmine51 · 10/04/2011 19:05

curious good thinking especially re the Grandmother idea.
Just giggling to myself at the thought of sleeping on an air bed...perhaps you could develop a system where DH jumps on the air bed whilst you are on it so you get catapulted to your feet. We did something similar to an unsuspecting friend at Uni who was fast asleep when 3 of us jumped on the bed...you'll believe a student can fly....!

sasamaxx · 10/04/2011 19:14

Jasmine Grin

curiouselle · 10/04/2011 19:17

Grin jasmine I am not going to even mention this to DH as he would probably try it on a normal bed and I would end up hanging off the lampshade!

Thornykate · 10/04/2011 19:40

Hello ladies hope you are enjoying the sunshine!

sasa I bet you will have a lovely time in the van, as long as the mattress is comfy enough.

I wouldn't mind some sort of hoist for getting out of bed ,but I think if anyone tried bouncing me off the bed I would be terribly incontinent Grin

well done on then national SSD enjoy your winnings!

Sorry to hear there are a few of us needing iron...am hoping to stay away from that if possible as it really doesnt agree with me at all.

OK I have to ask... is anyone else starting to feel that end of pregnancy grumpiness yet? I am 33+3 so don't know if it's a bit early to be feeling totally hacked off with everything & everyone. I do remember from previous pg's that the last few weeks were a drain on my patience but I don't know if I am stretching it a bit by blaming my crappy moods on the last 6 & a half weeks of pregnancy?

BPrincess · 10/04/2011 20:25

I'm with you Kate. I'm 33 weeks today and been in a rubbish mood most of the weekend, well if not grumpy then certainly tearful and tired and fed up. Can't imagine what I'll feel like in 7 weeks...

My question tonight is: how many of you are dropping half your food down your front these days? God I need a bib! I realise it's because I can no longer sit up close to the table due to size of bump, but that don't make it any less embarrassing. Think I'll have to stay home and accept no invited to friends houses or restaurants. It's the only way.

Been out gardening all day and now knackered! Planted (or rather oversaw the planting of) sweet peas and normal peas and nasturtiums, and had a good old tidy up. Got a tan while I was at it, too.

I think tomorrow's our last day of good weather, so we need to make the most.

Anyone on mat leave yet? I've got precisely 11 working days left, and counting.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/04/2011 20:33

BPrincess - it is getting more uncomfortable working as keep bumping against my table!

I am sooooo knackered, we went to B&Q this afternoon bought loads of plants to put in the back garden, DH did most of the work, I just passed him the plants and the soil improver, and then swept up and put the new solar lights in while he mowed the front garden and washed his car!
We are both very sore!

On another note I was too thinking that I should start washing the baby clothes!

motherofsnortpigs · 10/04/2011 21:34

Evening all!

Citizen I haven't seen Oranges and Sunshine, but I heard the woman (Margaret someone?) talking about it on the radio. Too sad. It's being a mummy that makes you sad at things like that. I look at my beautiful bright 3yo and cannot imagine sending her away and then finding out she didn't go where I thought she was going and finding her 40 years later.

joannezipan here is the pelvic floor mantra 'stop a wee, hold a fart, squeeze a man'. You can practise really stopping a wee to check you are doing it right, but don't do lots and lots while peeing as there is a risk you can give yourself a UTI.

ttl yup, we do the washable nappy thing to save money. I am sure your DH will get into the swing of rinsing poo down the loo :) Somewhat revoltingly, our poo nappies sometimes end up on top of the nappy bucket for a whole day and then I do them all at once during bathtime (my lucky children). tbh newborn baby poo is not that yuk and by the time you've got used to that you're hardened to dealing with nappies. (O someone shoot me now, I'm talking about poo...)

jasmine after showing you the nappies, I had to put a basket of little nappies together for baby rabbit. I suppose I'd better find the poor little thing some clothes to wear as well. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl so I need to make sure the all-important first outfit is sorted. I failed in this last time and DD1 was sent to the nursery to find something and she came back with a slightly too pink babygrow - the 'I am the little brother' romper was behind the door...

thorny O I am so grumpy. I am a bit disappointed because I have previously loved being pregnant and I do think this will be our last and I really would rather enjoy it.

sasa I'm sure a little getaway will be perfect. I have camped at about 20 weeks pregnant and the most annoying thing is needing a wee in the night - I have a good technique at squatting on the potty or over the washing up bowl Blush Enjoy the luxury of the caravan.

OK, I know there is far too much about bodily functions in this post now.

confessions I am a bit Envy of people getting presents and maternity leave too. But hey, the commute for the SAHM is short. I have been invited to a baby shower for a friend who is having her first in July. It's on 16th May and I am not sure whether I really want to go, although it's at her PILs and they have a nice clean hot tub in their back garden, so I'll probably make the effort :) I've never had a baby shower and no one makes much of a fuss when it's your 4th O and while I'm whinging Envy at people finding beer gardens and being whisked out for dinner on Friday nights - make the most of it ladies! Needing a babysitter does no favours to the spontaneous romantic gesture.

BP I am so stupidly clumsy. I put on an old maternity t-shirt the other day and it already has a huge tea stain down the front of it. I also drop stuff on the floor and just have to leave it. DH has stopped asking why the catfood fork/half a jar of sultanas/stray bits of laundry are on the floor and just picks them up and carries on - love 'im.

I want to be in the 'lack of iron' camp. I phoned my mw on Tuesday in tears because I was so tired and I'd only been up 2 hours (and had 10 hours of fairly good sleep). She did bloods but they came back normal. I think I just need to eat more and dash about less - both of which I find hard. DH has bought me 5kg of body builders' protein and carb shake to quaff and I am taking Spatone because it might do something. I've tried very hard to do nothing this weekend and I don't feel too bad now. The real test will be next week, I've got loads of cool stuff planned. I'll let you know :)

Joannezipan · 10/04/2011 22:17

Hello Everyone,

So thats the weekend gone then :( it seemed to flash past. O well only 5 days to go before the next one! I must admit I have spent a huge chunk of this weekend sitting on the sofa with my feet up watching rubbish TV. But I've done some lounging about in the sunshine too so that's okay :)

BP I keep finding a large proportion of my dinner in my bra each evening...glamorous!

Right off to bed now, I've got work in the morning and this week I have the joy of preparing the house for a visit from my in laws Hmm I'm not amused! I might make DH clean the bathroom tomorrow evening though...I really can't be bothered. No would be a good time for that nesting instinct to kick in!

Night night all xx

jasmine51 · 11/04/2011 08:12

BP at yoga a couple of weeks ago we did the first upside down move of the evening and a peanut M&M fell out of my cleavage.

Mother I'm worried that you are putting nappies on baby rabbits...
