Hello, Hi to everybody

have been reading about two weeks of messages since the weekend and have just caught up! So much seems to have been happening with everyone.. and the time does seem to be going so quickly - like this thread :)

Havent been on for a while as had a few things going on with my family and DH. My dad found out today results of an operation he had around 2 weeks ago. They found malignant tumor and he is due to start radiotherapy in about 4 weeks time. It is a lot better than could have been, and therapy is more precautionary so he's in a little bit better spirits for that. But been a bit of a stressful time for all of us. Love my dad so much, has been so horrible seeing him so so anxious and in pain.

DH booked in for an operation on Saturday.. a lot less urgent but simple 'personal' procedure (not the snip!) that has just by chance come up now after a few months wait. He'll be off work, in some pain for a week or two, so will be able to give him a working demo of the loving sympathetic treatment needed by some one who has recently undergone some discomfort in a sensitive area!

I posted last before my holiday to Scotland. Was really happy that I managed to get on aeroplane at 31 weeks and no one at the airline noticed I was pregnant, and it was all fine; even without fit to fly letter :) :) Had such a nice time, we travelled all around, even up to Isle of Skye and weather was so so nice (was before it got cold). So last girly pre motherhood holiday over, sigh.. but don't think my comfort tolerance levels could have taken a trip any later than that!

LO seems fine, kicks coming thick and fast still, but I feel happy that is head down as MW says with where they are. Havent had anything else come up since anaemia, which am v thankful for, partic considering everything else going on.

Having babys room carpet fitted next friday, walls are painted, just need to finish glossing door and skirting etc this weekend while DH is recovering. So excited about getting room set up and ready, think will be a lovely thing to ease me into the mothering mindset :)

Lavitabellissima · 21/10/2010 22:19

Hi Everyone, sorry for going AWOL - We have a BT broadband fault and I've had no internet access at home since I went on maternity leave Angry, and I was planning on mumsnetting all day Grin. Managed to semi fix it today but the wireless doesn't work so I can only come on when DP is at home with his laptop Sad

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and messages, I am good, so happy I'm not working. Although I'm not sleeping well at all, still having very bad acid reflux and being sick, but have now been given some stronger acid suppressants. Hopefully that will help.

I had a scan on Tues both babies estimated weights at approx 2kgs which apparently is big for singleton babies at 32 weeks so very good for twins Smile I have a really ichy spot underneath my belly button, but think it must just be all the stretching.

I'm so excited though and really happy and excited to be a mum soon Grin still lots of worries etc, but it really feels real now if you know what I mean Smile

Welcome to all the newbies to the thread and welldone to IfItsnotanarse hope little Lochlan is doing well and Congratulations on being the first on the thread.

I read the 8 pages I'd missed very fast so will catch up properly and get up to date. Any sign of Aimee though?

PJen · 21/10/2010 23:09

Sorry that some of you are feeling poorly again...... Maxpower & C&G get well soon...... DF happy to hear that you are doing better! Miffster you look absolutely gorgeous!!! I haven't taken a pic for at least 3-4 months now... I need to take one to keep the memory but I always look too shitty to bother! By the way, how do you girls recognize these loos? They all look the same to me. To me they look like the ones in Westfield.... Lavita very happy that you are back... was getting nervous for you and I am [henvy] that you are not working... I have reflux too and it is getting worse... Does your body produce more relaxin than us?

Oops, I posted a question in another section and it caused tons of disagreement between people posting! There are some hot topics in MN that you need to avoid... lol.... I felt bad since actually some poeple were quite rude to some happy people that seemed to just post to help me.... Hmm not sure why people have such a strong views... I just was curious to know if everyone gets an overhang after c-section or is it different from people to people.... Why people care so much about what other people like. I am quiet cool with other people's decisions and what ever floats someone's boat I am happy with!! [hwink] Okay I know these halloween icons are tacky and I am the only one usign them but hey the hats are cute... [hgrin]

I did GTT test today... I had to drink the disgusting lucozade wait 2 hrs and then went back for the second round of blood while chewing my sugar free 0 calorie gum. The nurse freaked out saying "YOU ARE CHEWING A GUM if the results are positive you have to come back to do it again!!" hmmmmmmm I insisted that it is a sugar free 0 calorie gum!! She insisted that it is a gum anyway!! I was perplexed how this can screw my results and got back and asked my colleagues who are consultants and they all agreed with me that it should be absolutely fine!! "If your results are positive then it is not because of the calorie free gum!" now I am nervous that this stupid nurse makes me take the test again... the test it self was okay but waiting 2 hours in the hospital was brutal!!!!!

yooohooo tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!!!!!! WOCHENENDE!!! [hsmile]

Lavitabellissima · 21/10/2010 23:10

Miffster You look just lovely in your picture [hsmile]

How is everyone doing with names? DP is really keen on one twin being called Florence which I like but this seach I did has just put me off names 2010 it's just so difficult to pick something nice, but not uber popular or weird [hhmm]

chloesbaby · 22/10/2010 08:26

I think Florence is lovely Lavita and if we were having a girl it would definitely have been on the shortlist.

I've got another scan in two weeks to check the placenta position and I'm going ask them to re-check the sex, because over the past few weeks I've had a strange feeling our little boy might actually be a girl Confused
I'll let you know!

crazykat · 22/10/2010 08:43

Morning ladies

Wow I've missed a lot this week. My brain has completely gone to mush and I can't remember most of what's happened Blush. Pre DCs I had a great memory too now I can barely remember what day it is never mind the date.

Been busy knitting with my mum - finally learned last week after trying since I was about 10. I think hormones are making me loopy, I'm totally obsessed with making mitts and booties for LO, I think by the time she gets here she'll have a new pair for every day of the month never mind the week.

I can't believe how much DD has grown up, especially the last couple of months. She's like a mini grown-up with some of the things she says. DS seems to be learning a new word every day. Thankfully DD seema to like the idea of a baby sister, DS is too young to understand properly but I think he knows something's going on. What was I thinking - Christmas with 3 DCs under 3years. I'm nuts!

Lavita how about using an 'older' name (or names in your case). DD's name is an old Irish name so it's unusual but not weird (I hope).

CheeseandGherkins · 22/10/2010 09:08

maxpower the not being able to breathe feeling is awful, I had it so much again last night that I wondered if she'd turned breech again. It was a lot worse when she was and then stopped for a week or so when I know she'd gone transverse and oblique, makes me wonder.

WLL I hate broken sleep! Guess I should be getting used to it though!

DF Agree with you on names, doesn't matter if some distant relative has the same name at all.

Button sorry to hear about your Dad, hope the radiotherapy goes well. Hope dh's op goes well too. Glad you managed to get on the plane and that the holiday was good, sounds like you had a lovely time.

Lavita I can only imagine how uncomfortble it must be for you with 2 in there, I was only complaining to dh last night that I couldn't stand much longer and I'm only 31 weeks with 1! The heartburn and lack of space must be harder for you. Wow that's 4 pounds 4oz and is the same as my baby has been estimated! I know mine is big too, as they love to keep telling me! I would have used the name Florence as it was my nan's name but not after David Cameron used it for his daughter. It's also my daughter's middle name so I'm not sure how she'd react to the baby having her middle name as a first name. I love it though, such a pretty name.

Pjen I haven't seen that thread, I've been scaring myself with births, c-section threads etc lately so I'll see if I can find it!

Morning all, tired again as usual! I had quite a nesting urge last night and cleaned the kids rooms and upstairs and sorted it all out, then did the living room and dining room downstairs. Think I'll get on with some more today. We've been stuck without a dishwasher for a couple of weeks now which has been a pain but it's been written off (we have a contract with British Gas for appliances) and got a voucher to spend in Comet towards a new one so that's being delivered on Sunday, can't wait.

I'm still getting lots of tightenings and aches and pains, they don't seem to be doing anything though so I'm not overly worried at the moment.

Chooster · 22/10/2010 10:56

Hi all! I've got the old trouble breathing too - I keep having to take deep breaths and it sounds like I'm sighing a lot [hhmm], but its the only way I feel I can get enough air in me [hsmile]. I mentioned it to my midwife yesterday at my 34 week check just so they can check my iron levels. I too feel a little dizzy but think its just normal heavily pregnant stuff and it should be better when I can relax a bit more! Its my last day at work today - Hoorrraaayyyy!!!!. I've been looking forward to it for so long but now its here I'm wondering if I'm heading off too early. Me and DH are worried about money but I've come to the conclusion that it wont make much difference until next year when I'm deciding on my return date, and by then I may have even lost my job through redundancy anyway [hhmm]. So I'm just going to sail out of here today and enjoy pottering around at home doing all those baby related jobs I've been putting off [hgrin]. Shame I need to complete my job application form for the 'at risk' process but hey ho...

Hope you get some relief soon on the breathing front C&G - its uncomfortable and must be so much worse with asthma. Hope DS1 is a little better behaved today. How are thing with your ex by the way? Is the situation a bit more settled?

Button - very sorry to hear about your dad but good that its better than expected. Hope he gets through the radio therapy OK. And poor DH... great idea to demonstrate a high level of care that can be returned when the time comes [hsmile].

Miffster - you look fabulous and very nice and neat [hsmile]. Your bump looks lovely.. I've given up wanting to have pics taken as I feel too blob like... Me and DH went to costco the other day and I got some fleecy bright pink pyjama's in large - they are the comfiest things in the entire world but DH pissed himself when he first saw me saying I looked like an enormous over-ripe berry - DS1 is obviously much better trained and he said I looked lovely and I was like a nice cuddly teddy bear [hsmile].

Speaking of comfy - I hate wearing uncomfortable clothes when pregnant so I'll be living in my joggers and jammies, especially on my way back from the hospital.

Aarrghh - I'm forgetting what everyone elkse has said! But hope all those with coughs and colds and sniffles are feeling better - I feel so lucky to have escaped so far.

Whoever it was that mentioned that first drive home was spot on! We drove so slowly with DS1 it was almost more dangerous and then got into the house and just sat looking at DS not really sure what to do - it was quite funny really [hsmile]. With DS2 though we stopped off to get some food on the way home so with this one we'll probably stop and do a full food shop [hwink].

Right better go and finish stuff off - its absolutely pissing it here today, so its not a bad day to be in the office.

maxpower · 22/10/2010 12:35

happy ML chooster I've got another 7 weeks of work to go Envy

re names, my middle name is my sister's first name and it's the name we've chosen for this one if it's a girl. I find it funny how people become very protective over names like they have some sort of ownership. If you like it, use it! lavita I think Florence is lovely.

re driving home, I have to confess I wasn't at all concerned about DD on the drive back from hospital - having had an emcs I was in far too much pain to worry about anything but myself Blush and trying to somehow levitate off my seat so that the tiniest movement of the car didn't cause me pain! It was defintiely the longest journey of my life!!

button pleased to hear that the outcome of your dad's surgery was better than expected, but it's still a worrying time for you all. Hope the radiotherapy goes well. Of course you must remember that whatever surgery your DH is about to have will probably be far worse than you giving birth Wink

DH finished painting the hall stairs and landing yesterday. I'm not sure I really like the colour all that much, but it's neutral and I keep thinking that once we've got some pictures up and blinds etc I'll probably learn to live with it.

Strix · 22/10/2010 12:36

Hi everyone. Nothing new here. Just tired, fat, and crabby.

Lavita, I'd be a tad worried that Florence might hit the top of the charts consider it is the name of the Prime Minister's daughter.

PJen · 22/10/2010 14:01

Hello everyone,
Couldn't sleep last night. LO had hiccups and woke me up plus extremely (almost painful) itchy stomach and was thirsty. So up at 3 AM and couldn't go back to sleep. Started cleaning kitchen at 3:30 and went to bed at 6 AM till 7!! I am dyiiiiiing...
Lavita we are struggling on names too... DH keeps on veto-ing what I suggest and I want him to like the name as I am usually the one who chooses everything. I like florence; it is very classy and appropriate considering her background... We are struggling with middle names. DH likes Victoria as middle name and I just can't imagine MY girl to be a victoria... Too British considering my child's mix background... Also, we are thinking about combining two names with a "-" so that it becomes one unique name.

C&G it is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childbirth/1064829-Please-let-me-know-if-you-got-extra-skin-overhang I am curious and want to know every aspects of everything but it turned to a battle ground between ppl responding. Blush

Strix You are not alone... I have never ever though I would see these numbers on the scale! Who is this giant whale I wonder?

maxp why are you working for another 7 weeks!!!! that is a long time. 3 more weeks for me.... but I am due Dec 5th and if she stays breech then will have CS 2 weeks earlier so I am pretty much working till last min.

maxpower · 22/10/2010 14:18

pjen I'm not due until NYE and want to try to have as much ML the other side of DC arriving (IYSWIM). My sympathies on the sleeping front. I keep toying with the idea of getting up int he night to do stuff but our house is such a tip from the decorating, I can't really see much point at the mo.

PJen · 22/10/2010 15:17

Max How nice..... I really like 01-01-11 as a birthdate.... :)

PJen · 22/10/2010 15:19

by the way, what's going on with being soooo thirsty???? I am drinking giant jugs of water and am constantly parched! :P

maxpower · 22/10/2010 15:46

my DD's birth date is 8-7-6 so I think 1-1-11 would complement it well Wink

agree about the thirsty - DH was trying to tell me I has early clinical signs of dehydration yesterday - but then he just likes practising his medical training on me....!

DuelingFanjo · 22/10/2010 18:03

hey all :)

Went to look around the MLU today. There were 2 other couples, one woman due in early December who is currently under consultant led care "because of my age" (I really wanted to ask how old she is because she didn't look older than me - I'm 40) and another who is having an Elective CS on Monday. I was really impressed with the new MLU and feel so much happier about everything I was worrying about RE wanting as natural a birth as possible. The midwife we spoke to said they really do encourage people to use the birthing pools.

The rooms they transfer you into are lovely though I wonder what the chances are of us getting one of the doubles with a double bed and complete privacy. They said they like to give them to first time parents so here's hoping.

If I decide I want an epidural then they say I would have to go up to the Consultant led unit which was much more sterile and less comfortable.

Am so please I went, it's made me feel LOADS better Grin

93pjb · 22/10/2010 18:11

df glad to hear you are feeling a bit better

max my dd is the same age as yours and definitely more clingy lately, thankfully still sleeping though. Hope you can get some extra Kip over the weekend

miffster I work in southwark - are you anywhere near tooley st? Maybe we could meet for coffee. Lovely photo btw

c&g hope things get a bit easier for you soon.

button sorry to hear about your dad, glad the holiday was good

ifitsnotanarse congrats - lovely name too

chooster happy ml!

Had mw appt today - still measuring small - 27 weeks instead of 32. So now have two scans next week. It is all quite stressful as we have still not moved. Purchase of new house is going slowly so we won't be in for another couple of weeks and having been let down by two buyers we've ended up deciding to rent out the current place. It'll be fine in the end but quite a lot of work to sort out two houses and since this lo seems to be following his big sister's growth path fairly accurately and she had to be induced at 37 weeks it is all getting a bit close for comfort.

lavita that's a really good weight! Much bigger than mine!

I shouldn't moan as I am having a much easier time than most due to being small. Was talking to someone at work last week about lo arriving soon and was asked if I was adopting!

chooster there is useful info here on mat leave and redundancy www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?itemId=1080903562&type=RESOURCES

Right enough of the megapost time to get on with dinner...

ButtonAzure · 22/10/2010 19:03

pjen v much sympathy with the sleeplesness, and 3 am cleaning. c&g your house is sounding v organised too. I keep having on and off nights sleeping/cleaning at the moment, ironing seems to help am finding - not too strenuous but quite theraputic.. dh does not appreciate his flat pants as much as he might though!

choost enjoy your leave!
On one hand would love to be off with more time but because my job is critically at risk for ending april feel like I am sad to leave any earlier in case that is it and I never get to go back [hsad] and also same as max would like the time off with LO after if there is a job to go back to!

crazykat well done for learning the knitting, sounds lovely. My mum taught me to crochet a couple of months ago - which is dead easy, have never been able to knit the real way. Have made a blanket for LO which am v pleased with.

lavita - florence is very sweet, and isn't weird at all. and I still haven't heard of any around in real life near me anyway :)

Have had sickday today, my 5th of pg i think, so don't feel too bad. I worked mon to thur with a cold because had important things that couldn't cancel.. needed the respite today tho, haven't been able to do anything but sleep and lounge!

maxpower · 22/10/2010 20:21

Got home to find DH had put DD's new wardrobes and her bedside unit together and put new blinds up in the hall/stairs. Finally feel like we've turned the decorating corner thank god. Only problem is I can't really see when I'm going to get things straight. I work 4 days a week but after next week, I'm hoping to eek out the leave I have left to take so that I can drop down to 3 days a week.

maxpower · 22/10/2010 20:25

93 my DD is being absolutely fab about the whole baby thing (so far). I think it helps as she's due to start 'big school' in Jan so she's got something special that's all about her to look forward to plus she's getting a new bedroom etc. I just hope we continue along this vein when DC2 arrives!

crazykat · 22/10/2010 20:35

Found out DH is working away again next week. Just when DCs were starting to sleep better again now it'll be back to square one with them waking up in the night to see if dadd's home yet. Oh well at least it's only mon-fri for 3 weeks tops as I'm usually early and DH refuses to work away in the 3weeks before I'm due - mostly because he missed DD being born when she came 2 weeks early.

I remember coming home with DS, I absolutely hated it. It was the day after really heavy snow and once or twice the back of the car was slipping on the road. I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life. Just hope we don't get snow this time round, I'd be tempted to stay in hospital till it's all gone.

laurenamium · 22/10/2010 20:36

hey all just scanned the last page will read properly after posting!

chooster happy mat leave! It was my last day at my main job yesterday and I got a lovely bunch of flowers off my boss and all the customers had had a 'whip round' which was lovely of them seeing as the majority are unemployed men following the ICI and British Steel closing nearby :) was nice that they had thought about me!

kellestar · 22/10/2010 21:41

I spoke to work today going back thurs/fri 10-2 and that's it. Annual Leave and Time in Lieu all sorted out so six weeks off before ML kicks in. woohoo. Tho have been off sick for the last 4 weeks. I'm really loving my jiggly bump at the moment, it just makes me laugh with it's twitches and movements. Indigestion is back, fennel tea is helping - shuddering over gaviscon just can't keep it down.

MrsSnaplegs · 23/10/2010 02:44

Well as you can probably see I can't sleep again! Just thought I'd make the most of quiet time and pop on here to see what I had missed - loads Grin

kellestar Good news about work and glad you are loving your bump!

laurenamium Nice to see someones work caring!

crazykat I sympathise with the sleep thing, with me working away DD has been difficult to settle when I am home, this time as she knows I am back now until we move she seems to be better!

Maxpower DD is also being great - although I would like her to stop sitting on the bump when she comes to sit on my lap or give it a cuddle - it gets very sore!! We are also doing "new" bedroom when we move and she is going to help with the nursery! Thankfully we don't have to decorate (can't in rented) the nursery so it should just be setting things up.

93pjb I fully sympathise with the house thing - any idea when you can move? I am just desperately hoping LO stays put for the next 2 weeks ( 1 week to move and 1 week to finsih up important stuff at work) after that if it happens early then so be it - I might enjoy the extra time off!! And there is no way anyone could think we were adopting - I'm huge (almost titanic like!)

DF Glad you are feeling better after your visit - that double bed sounds great!

Lavita I love the name Florence - not one we would have considered if it was a girl but really nice Grin - we already had "spare" girls names from last time and DH just said well if it's a girl we'll use one of those!!

Button Welcome back - glad you got your trip to Scotland

Chloesbaby ooh I understand what you mean about not being sure on the sex I was like that 1st time with DD, even after the scan convinced myself it was a boy! This time I know it is male because it is being such a pain in the rear end Wink

ifitsnotanarse Hope you and Lochlan are doing ok, guess you are being a busy new mum but keep us uptodate on how our first LO is Grin I wonder which one of us will be next? Did think it was going to be me tonight - I was trying to remember the early stages of labour as I though I was having mild contractions earlier - settled in the end but I still can't sleep!!

Well as you now I came home from work early on Weds after not being made to feel particulalry welcome and never got round to explaining why! I have a work laptop, for use at home when I am working from home to save me having to do so much travelling. I also am no longer able to work in my old office as I am a H&S risk up there supposedly (in the attic space) so I had been allocated a desk downstairs, told I would have to hot desk when i am there - fair enough happy wiith that! Went in to the office for 2 1/2 days last week as I actually had my students based elsewhere and had been working with them but needed to go into work to do some bits. Got told by the top boss there ( via another colleague) that I had the laptop so I needed to go somewhere else to work as they needed the desk I was at for a new admin clerk as she wanted her own desk (FFS I'm junior/middle management equivalent). So I got a bit pissed off and went back to my old office in the attic. Realised there was no way I would be able to work there as getting up the stairs is a nightmare so told my direct line manager I was going home and wouldn't be back until we had moved house (I have next week booked as leave)How can 1 individual make you feel so pants, my junior staff couldn't believe it. Worst bit is when we move house I won't be able to use the laptop at home for the rest of my time at work as we wont have broadband until the 20 Nov so I can't use the laptop properly so I will have to take it into the office to work but I have no office or desk to use it at Hmm I can see some imaginative use of annual leave coming up here!!

Well I took over the new house on Weds afternoon before I came home, as I have said to DH it is 4 walls and a roof - small compared to where we currently are even though they are all supposed to be the same square footage (yes it has been checked) but it will do as it means we can be together Grin and I can stop travelling Grin

The movers are coming on Weds and Thurs next week to pack us and deliver to new place on Fri - at least we have the bonus of not needing to do any packing Grin
I am taking DD down ther on Thurs afternoon to stay overnight so we can meet the movers on Fri am at 0800. DH is kipping on the floor of the old house with dog and cats and THE SKY BOX! We have things on Sky Plus we would normally record on a Thursday night and he has decided it is easier to stay there and leave it plugged in as the Sky engineer cannot do the new house until the Friday Grin how sad is that Blush! It also means he can just drive down with animals all in one go otherwise we would have difficulty finding somewhere to stay overnight with the dog as she is quite big.

Right I better go and try to sleep as we have a busy few days of prepping for the move coming up!

Take care and see you soon!

Mrs S

MrsSnaplegs · 23/10/2010 02:46

cherylanntweedy A while ago you were looking for a 4 drawer filing cabinet - do you still want one? We have one, office type, metal, grey/beige colour that we won't need after the move - we can bring it round if you want it Grin
