Hi everyone. I see we are talking GTTs. I had mine today. They said they will call tomorrow if I failed it. I don't really think I will fail it though. So not terribly worried. It was pretty boring to be honest. But I did manage to sit right by a plug, so at least I had my laptop to entertain me.

I hope everyone is well!

After my test, I went to lunch with a friend whom i have not seen for literally years. So that was fun.

I am very tired so being the old fat pregnant fogie that I am, I think I'll be asleep by 8:00 tonight.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Oh, BTW, in case anyone is interested I got the normal limits for the GTT today. 1 hour after the sugar drink your blood glucose should be under 11 and after 2 hours it should be under 7.9.

CheeseandGherkins · 18/10/2010 20:21

strix hope the test comes back clear for you. Here the limit is 7 after the 2 hours, can't remember what she said for the 1 hour. Glad you had a good lunch

ifitsnotanarse · 18/10/2010 21:46

Hello everyone, my little fella decided not to wait till December and arrived last Tuesday, 8wks early and 4lb 8oz. He's in the Neonatal ward but came out of the incubator yesterday morning and I got to put clothes on him Smile. I had been leaking amniotic fluid for the 4 wks before he was born but nobody believed me. When I arrived at the hospital they scanned me and found no fluid whatsoever Shock. They didn't believe I was in labour Confused and were quite shocked when I went from 4cm to birth in 20mins!
Baby in Neonatal ward but out of incubator yesterday and fingers crossed will be home before his due date.

CheeseandGherkins · 18/10/2010 21:55

Congratulations! First one to be born. Do you have a name for him yet? That seems like a really good weight for 32 weeks so that's amazing :) So pleased for you. Shocked though that they didn't believe you about the waters leaking, awful.

PJen · 18/10/2010 21:59

Yayyy our thread's first baby has arrived!!! Congratulaions ifitsnotanarse wow... he was good size for 32 weeks... How was your birth? Is he your first child?

PJen · 18/10/2010 22:01

By the way guys, when I give birth I won't tell my baby's name here in the chat site. I won't mind telling you all via private message but not in he chat because I just found out that our chat's are google-able for ever! Meaning if you have a unique combination name for your child (nothing usual like Jack or Amber) even if many years from now someone googles that name this chat will pop up... Not sure I like that idea...

ifitsnotanarse · 18/10/2010 22:06

Thank you C&G. He called Lochlan, picked by his big (5 year old!) brother. He's very long which accounts for most of his weight - he should be in Tiny Baby clothes but they're not long enough for him. He's very skinny though, no proper bum cheeks yet! Grin

ifitsnotanarse · 18/10/2010 22:08

Ooo, wish I had seen PJen's message before I posted! Shock

ifitsnotanarse · 18/10/2010 22:14

2nd DC and birth pretty good considering. I had ordered a book on Hypnobirthing and only got half way, so frantically reading the rest between contractionsGrin. I only had gas and air as didn't want to take any medication (pethadine made me feel awful last time) and managed to walk back up to the ward from the delivery suite. The best thing was that even though he was so early I was able to hold him before he was taken to the neonatal ward.

CheeseandGherkins · 18/10/2010 22:23

You can always ask for your post to be deleted if you're worried about that. Can't say it bothers me tbh, so many messages on these boards and if someone's sad enough to want to stalk me then I'm sure they'd find ways to do so without me having to worry about names :o

Sounds like you had a lovely birth. Did your waters break or how did labour start?

laurenamium · 19/10/2010 00:25

oh my goodness congrats ifitsnotanarse and welldone for the no drugs Shock I like lochlan too its lovely :)

MrsSnaplegs · 19/10/2010 01:07

PJen · 19/10/2010 10:29

good morning ladies... It all feels so real, now that we have officially our first baby.. :)

I am working from home as I have a MW app today. I am very excited for it as it is my first time with the new hospital and am really hoping that the hospital change was a good decision.

Tonight I have my 6th NCT class. I started taking it with Nov babies as they didn't offer Dec babies in our area and I am early Dec anyway. So We have learnt a lot and I really like my teacher and she already supports me with questions re hospitals, etc. The people are fab too and all very similar to us = naiive first timers eager to learn and know other people. It is good that half of the class is ahead of me with regards to EDD as I will hear first hand from them what to avoid in hospital or what to do...

Oh by the way, have you heard that we are getting a cold snap?!?! I am worried about a snow baby as my friend last year gave birth to her baby on the day that the whole london was shut down due to snow and she couldn't find a cab or bus to go to hospital when in pain!!!! I read it here: www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/britain-braced-for-cold-snap-from-the-arctic-2110532.html

Strix · 19/10/2010 10:56

So, there goes my bet that Lavita will be first.

Sounds like the hospital is staffed with numpties! I write a very unpleasant letter and name everyone who didn't believe me.

On the GTT test, I'm not very worried about it. I asked what would be different about my course of treatment if it came back positive. She said I would have to have a caesarean (ok, already having one) and that it would be scheduled two weeeks early (again, ok, as it is already scheduled for week 38).

I suppose I'd have to change my diet a bit. But, not hugely because I already eat lots of complex carbs and proteain and veg. So, no big deal really.

I went to bed at 8:30 last night and I feel so alive and well rested today. It is fab!!! Smile

DuelingFanjo · 19/10/2010 10:58

I am a bit worried about the cold snap but am lucky to be fairly near the hospital. Not near enough to walk through snow though!

I have a terrible cold, sore throat etc. Am in work but feel awful. Have been drinking honey and lemon which has helped.

jobobpip08 · 19/10/2010 12:33

great news ifits Grin delighted to hear baby Lochlan has got here safely and is doing well xxx

MrsSnaplegs · 19/10/2010 13:55

Well we have a house, take it over tomorrow afternoon so just need to organise removals - going to aim for end of next week or early week after. Aargh!

Today is big day for my "employer" future plans being announced today in parliament - for those that hadn't already worked out which public service area I worked in Grin I am the dark blue flavour! So a house but potentially no job ! Oh well same boat as many others!

maxpower · 19/10/2010 14:19

Huge congratulations ifits

Good luck MrsS

NidsC · 19/10/2010 14:47

Many many congratulations to ifitsnotanarse
on your baby news.. its not long to go now for everyone !!

I am having awful nights now without any sleep, cannot stop movin around and changing sides and legs and everything else just seems to be in the way !!

I havent slept for what feels like days....

Am absolutely exhausted, if I am like this now will have 0 energy to push baby out !

Chooster · 19/10/2010 14:54

Oh wow - ifitsnotanarse!!! Thats so amazing and so great to hear that Lochlan is doing well Smile. It must have been a hell of a shock for you though, but it sounds like it all went as well as can be expected. Is your big boy excited about his little brother. Thats a lovely age gap. I know my 6yr old boy is SO SO excited about his newest little brother. I wouldn't worry too much about the name thing.... As long as you dont give full name and surname then it wont mean anything to anyone anyway. If you googled Lochlan I'd guess this thread would be somewhere on page 38,292 Wink. Not saying that its a popular name though - its lovely Smile.

I also read that a cold snap is coming!!! Brrrrrr - Predicting snow up in the north of scotland today. I know I definately felt it had become much colder when I left the house this morning. Proper chilly Smile.

MrsSnaplegs - Great news on the house and not so great on the spending cuts in your area. As you say there are so many people going through this. Its not great Sad I'm still waiting for feedback from HR as, in theory, if I lose my job in mid-Jan I go into a kind of clearing process for 6 weeks where you can apply for any other jobs in the organisation. My problem is that I'd be quite disadvantaged as I'll be at home, fairly dis-connected with a 6 week old baby - also I'm not going to be much of a catch for any new area as I'll be on mat leave Hmm. Not quite sure whether thats just tough luck? Or whether the company will honour its obligation to provide me with a job after mat leave? Its all a bit confusing. None of it would be too bad but I need to return to work financially and I can't manage a taxing full time job with 3 young kids - at least not without losing my sanity Smile. And part time work in my field is almost non-existant for a external applicant... Grrrr - the plight of working mothers.

Hope everyone else is doing well!! Well done again on the birth of our first thread baby - who's next!!!!

chloesbaby · 19/10/2010 16:11

Just been listening to the announcement in parliament MrsS

As you know I'm in the same boat because of my DH's job. Where do you think the job cuts will come from? I do hope they do it via natural wastage - not replacing those who leave or retire - rather than redundancies.
I thought he had one of the most secure jobs it was possible to have, but I'm suddenly feeling a lot less secure...

WhatWillSantaBring · 19/10/2010 16:32

Hey chloesbaby, just posted something similar on the main thread about this announcement on natural wastage - they're saying over 5 years, so sounds most likely. I've heard they've been working on this subtly for the past few months - people not being allowed to sign on for longer, not being able to change their minds if they apply to leave etc. Oh, and they've stopped recruiting, allegedly.

Congrats to ifits. I thought someone's LO would show up early, but boy that's brought it home how soon it is going to happen for all of us. I think I might pull together my hospital bag this weekend!!

Fab news on the house, MrsS and as you say, lets hope you have the job to go with the house! We applied for new housing on Monday... moving in February, so hopefully hear where we have a house before Christmas (particularly as there is a high likelihood of having to find something privately - just about got my head around moving with a 4 week old baby, but I'm not sure I could house hunt beforehand!)

Smile Congratulations ifitsnotanarse lovely news and lovely name.

Just got back in from 10:45 Consultant appointment, Japh thanks to you experience mentioned some itching I have been having, bloods were taken straight away, I was put on the monitor, waited for blood results which were clear.
GTT also fine, however I am now measuring 40 weeksShock I am 30+5 no wonder I have been feeling like the baby is going to drop out. I have to have twice weekly monitoring due to itching/highish BP/polyhydamnious/SPD, then having scans fortnightly.

Catch up properly later I'm starving and I need a brew.
