Uwila birth announcement

Hi,

Mr Uwila here - Mrs Uwila asked me to pass along details of our newborn, Alex, who was brought blinking (and crying, loudly) into the world at just before midday today, weighing 7lb 8oz. Or thereabouts.

Both mother and son and doing fine, albeit both are very tired. Alex did experience some initial breathing difficulties but those settled down after a few hours (a good deal of gunk in the lungs). Right now all he does is sleep... until probably midnight or so, I guess!

With best wishes

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Bubble, I haven't really got a long story to tell. The planned section went according to plan. We showed up at 7:30 on Thursday morning and waited around in true NHS fashion for a few hours and then went up to change into our fashionable Queen Charlotte gowns/scrubs. Alex was born at 11:51 and had a bit of breathing difficulty at first, but nothing serious. We came home yesterday. I've got lots of lovely pain killers but I'm finding I don't really need them.

Welcome home Uwilla. Congratulations on the birth of Alex Did he need to go to SCBU for a while or did he just settle with you?

uwila · 22/05/2005 17:35

Hi, Mears. Thanks. No he stayed with me. He was also a bit cold so we had him under a heater for a bit before I went off to the ward. And his breathing was a bit squeaky (due to some fluid in his lungs)for a couple of hours. But, he did fine, and we were discharged two days after surgery. So, all is well.

BTW, if anyone is looking for a review on Queen Charlotte and Chelsea, I recommend it. The care was very good. Lots of staff around. I was never left unattended.
