...but she kept me waiting too! dd2 has arrived at last
sorry for being so lax posting but it's been a bit of a rollercoaster - everything fine though. Baby daughter (still no name @ 2 weeks old ) delivered by c-section on Tuesday 22 April at a bouncing 8lb 9.5 oz! went in for scheduled induction but v few weedy contractions even after waters broken for me. I never even got as far as drugs - needle went into the back of my hand and although I felt fine, my bp/pulse just dropped & they took me in for a crash section as the baby's heart slowed dangerously too. had to have a general anaesthetic which was the worst bit & vomited a bit on waking up. she's beautiful though and don't regret any of it. dh away for a week so parents looking after me & dd1. baby sleeping 5 hours at night and mastitis I thought I was getting seems to have subsided & I haven't had to start taking the antibiotics. nipples still bloody sore though, who'd have thought it after 2 yrs of bfeeding dd1??? anyway, she's gorgeous and I hope to be posting more soon, bundle x
ps thanks for all your kind thoughts, I've been thinking about you all especially percy

Crumbs, Bundle, that sounds like quite a delivery. Very glad to hear you are both OK now, have been thinking of you. Welcome to the world mini-Bundle, and looking forward to hearing more anon.
PS - you can vomit loads after an elective under spinal if it is any consolation at all...

pie · 06/05/2003 11:38

Yeah bundle!! Congratulations. Glad to hear that after an emergency section your little bundle is ok. Have you tried putting boiled cabbage on your breasts? I found it a great help with the mastitis and sore nipples.

Ghosty · 06/05/2003 11:38

Hey Bundle ... congratulations ... glad you are back!!!
Sorry you had a rough time, but you seem to be together about it all!!

Mum2Toby · 06/05/2003 11:40

Congratulations Bundle.

bundle · 06/05/2003 11:48

pie, only tried raw cabbage leaves for coolness - isn't cooked a bit messy/stinky??
thanks Marina, the anaesthetists were a bit sniffy about me having had some hula hoops that morning but a girl's gotta keep her strength up, hasn't she ?
ghosty, I do feel pretty together after a few days on a morphine high (dh says I was much nicer!) as the post-op pain was quite bad to start with but now just concentrating on eating well and getting lots of rest to knock this boob problem on the head, IYKWIM

bundle, I remember hearing that when you cook the cabbage the gas it released is what does the trick, it did seem to work for me.

mears · 06/05/2003 12:41

Congratulations Bundle. Have you tried Purelan or Lansinoh for the sore nipples?
My nipples second time round were awful initially beacsue I didn't pay proper attention to fixing because I was an 'old hand'. Remember to keep that little baby mummy to tummy

mears · 06/05/2003 12:43

Meant (baby's)tummy to mummy. No lying with head turned to the side like those older babies.

grommit · 06/05/2003 13:23

i'm still here, at 41+3 but had a few contractions last night and a sweep today so we'll see.....
lots of love and congrats

janh · 06/05/2003 19:04

Congratulations, Bundle! GAs are awful and waking up from them worse than going under - apart from throwing up, talking utter gibberish in triplicate? (I'd had smarties cos I forgot I was supposed to be fasting for mine.)

Lots of luck with everything!
