am typing on patientline so will keep it brief for now...

ds2 born yesterday at 10am exactly after alarmingly short labour (was 3cm at 8:30)

he's gorgeous and well and weighed in at 7lb 6oz (pmsl at large for dates palaver lulu). looks just like ds1 only dark hair

feeding well and generally adorable

not so great for me - in theatre last night as placenta not alll cleared from uterus. cue yday's scenes from carrie. waiting now to have balloon removed to see if all ok. scary and painful 24hrs tbh

will update when home x

hi all - thanks for your good wishes. back home last night, finally

we're both fine now. ds2 doing well, if a little ravenous. milk hasn't come in yet - suffering from me having been nil by mouth for so long and having so little sleep, but am hoping it's not too far away now. will post elsewhere but mahoooosive thanks to those who encouraged me to stick with the bfing on my other thread

ok, here's the Long Version for anyone interested...

according to my notes labour was officially 1hr 15mins - pretty damned scary tbh. i know it's been said before, but Never Again . just made it into a delivery room before starting to push

gory details (i know you love em): fanjo in tatters and farmers from hell, but heck, what did i expect?

retained placenta caused all the problems - heavy bleeding and uterus not contracting. they tried drugs to help things along, then the most vile procedure where they kind of pummel the clots and bits out (mmm...) but nothing worked, hence going to theatre. they used a balloon catheter to help control the bleed post-op, and took that out the next day. all pretty much according to plan since then. really grim though - so disappointing after a quick, natural labour it was gutting to be stuck with catheter, and loads of lines in, stuck in a sweaty bed unable to get to ds2

they wanted to keep me in becasue of low iron levels but i kind of bullied them into letting me come home last night - was desperate to see ds1 and get back to normal

so now just working on getting some sleep and waiting for milk to come in so ds2 can get a decent feed (and therefore sleep for more than an hour at a time without demanding a feed!)
