And she really is a little kitten

Had the home birth I wanted, took 4 hours from start to finish. She weighed 8lb 4oz.

Haven't decided on name yet, need to get to know her a bit better.

She's breastfed but only a couple of times, she spent the rest of the day sleeping. She's so peaceful and so lovely.

Lottie saw her be born. My bestest friend was here with us and with Lottie all the way through, then as I felt the head come they came into the room with us both. Lottie sat on the end of the bed, totally not freaked, she was really happy and really excited and just said 'Look Baby'.

It was so much more painful this time, bigger baby and in less time but boy - that hurt! But we are all so happy, you can imagine, perfectly in time for Xmas and 2 days after Lotties birthday

A really beautiful baby girl to complement our other beautiful girl.

Pics soon.

Big love, big smiles, just general over the mooness!

Ah - so glad I saw this before disappearing for the holidays. Brilliant that you had the birth you wanted, although was convinced you were having a boy because you didn't look preggers at all from behind! (There goes that theory...) Lovely that Lottie was involved too - and you managed to hold on beyond her birthday. Anyway, loads of love to all four of you - have a fantastic first Christmas. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

NorwegianFir2 · 20/12/2005 19:44

Actually, am rather choked! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh girls, how lovely to have all your lovely messages to read.

I've sneaked on for a moment as I thought I should put the littlest pickle down for a sec and let her enjoy a stretch out on her sheepskin rug after being held by me for so long!

I sent D out to wet her head and told him to stay out at his Dad's and sleep there and come home rested. Then as we had arranged that my lovely friend turned up and told me to pack a bag as her two kids wanted Lottie to stay the night and go to the science museum with them tomorrow! So I have the house and mini munchkin all to myself and it's absolute bliss.

Can't get over how lucky I am. I feel so utterly at peace with the everything, so utterly and completley happy and whole.

My friend just sent me a pic of her little girl and mine in their pj's snuggled up on the sofa with a message saying night-night mummy and the other light of my life is lying here fast asleep.

She's been as good as gold. Having spent the first days of Lotties life in the hospital with her to have had a home birth and had that little girl nuzzled into me and on my breast all night long was sheer heaven and I can't wait to do it again tonight.

Thank you for your lovely messages, I'm off to have a bath with princess now. "speak' to you all soon, love to all of your and yours, TC xx

PS - We've been playing with the name Eve / Evie today. Seems to suit her and feel right. Not totally decided, will play with others tomorrow but Eve/Evie feels good/right so far.

Am going to try and do a pic while our bath runs but not sure I know how without D's help so can't promise.

xx

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have had my ideal birth! Fingers crossed I will be as lucky as you

I know you have your hands full so when ever you get a chance I have a couple of questions for you if you dont mind

Did you plan on your little girl seeing the actual birth and did you prepare like tell her exactly how it would happen - did she not get upset by seeing you huffing and puffing?

Also did you deliver the placenta naturally?
How long did it take?
Did you bleed heavy?

Wishing you all a lovely xmas

xxxx

wilbur · 20/12/2005 20:27

THOMCATsForLifeNotJustForXmas · 20/12/2005 20:40

Chunker / Hunker, you're welcome to drop round, anytime.

Lovecloud - I didn't plan anything really, not as such it all just kind of went the way that
I realise now i wanted. As the head started to come i just knew lottie should be there and she sat on the end of our bed, doing her happy hands and grinning, she was really excited. Although Lottie is 4 she has Down's syndrome so we're unable to know how she feels but it was obvious from her face she found it all exciting and was totally happy. I'm surprised she didn't try and crawl over to me or ask for a hug, i think she new it was a special moment and just enjoyed being there and seeong it all. As she came in as the head had just started to crown all she saw was me breathing out, i was calm and although it hurt I wasn't shouting or doing anything which could have startled her.

Yes the placenta was delivered naturally. I actually waited until the cord had stopped pulsating and I cut the cord, then after a while with bubs, while the midwife weighed her and daddy and lottie were holding baby I just pushed the placenta out with my last contraction and then me and bubaloo got into a nice bath together.

The bleeding was normal.

How long did what take, the placenta or the whole birth? Birth was first contraction was 2.15am and baby born by 6.38am. pushing stage was v short and placenta came out with 1 contaction when i was ready after cutting cord.

hope that answers everything but feel free to ask more. pls excuse typing have baby in my arms now.
