Bayleaf's beautiful, long awaited baby...

Bayleaf's beautiful, long awaited baby...has arrived - and is small (5lbs 10) but gorgeous, labour ( after induction 10 days early as she had a 2 vessel umbilical cord and wasn't fattening during the last weeks)was short and straight forward - but a nightmare emotionally as I was completely on my own for 95% of it. A classic over-stretched midwives scenario - just nobody available - constantly telling me they'd assess me soon, ( when I hobbled into the coridor to acost someone...) giving the impression that I was only in the early stages right till the end - so I felt I must be coping very badly with the pain but of course I wasn't it was just a lots closer to the end than I believed, not phoning dh till the last minute so he missed the birth entirely - I could go on!
But none of it really matters now as after 8 lots of ivf/icsi she is here and well and I have nothing important that I have ever wanted missing from my life.
Thanks to everyone who supported me here along the way....

Ah bayleaf - I think I have just read your news on another website (LT) that you haven't visited for a while. Am I right, do you have an older girl the same age as my ds1? Hope you don't mind that I sort of know who you are. And many congrats again!

bayleaf · 18/09/2005 09:57

Oh wow ..... you've made me cry! So many old friends with long memories, and some new ones too, THANK YOU all of you for your messages - now hopefully I can finally wean myself off the IVF message board and move back full time to good old Mumsnet. ( Pruni - I'm intrigued!!)
I'm really glad if my story has helped anyone - I do remember how stories of people getting there against the odds helped me to keep going when even dh thought it was pointless and I was grateful for them.
My darlig baby's name is Isabella Daisy - though she might yet be known as Daisy Isabella as we can't agree on a diminutive of Isabella - apparently my husband's boss's mistrsss is called Izzy and for me Bella is a Tweenie first and foremost! Dd 1 is ABSOLUTELY besotted and very very helpful - she has wanted a sibling since she was able to speak practically, particularly a sister of course, and one of the hardest parts of failed ivfs was dd asking me constantly WHY she couldn't have a baby brother or sister - when I so longed to give her one. She started school this term so the timing was immaculate - I have plenty of time to enjoy Isabella and can then lavish attention on Dd1 when she returns home at 3.15.
If I were 3 stone lighter and breast feeding wasn't so B*** painful then life would be TOTALLY perfect!!!

Wilbur - I didn't see your message before I posted ( I started post - got interrupted - and finished off much later.... as you do!) yes I am a LT absentee and finally posted there yesterday, Dd1 is from the Jan 01 babies club! Email me on LT and tell me who you are!!!!

And what exactly is wrong with Belly then bayleaf? (From the proud owner of a long awaited similarly named dd ).
First term at school coinciding with mummy on maternity leave worked so well for us, it really did. Two years down the line and they are still terrifically close.
Hoping the feeding settles down soon - it's one of the really agreeable parts of having a younger one for or five years later...you forget, don't you!

bayleaf · 18/09/2005 17:16

OK Wilbur - I KNOW who you are now - been reading other birth announcements which rather gave it away!
