I wanted to wish you strength and my smpthay for tomorrow.

You are in my thoughts and I hope that the service reflects what a couragous family you are and what a fantastic man MR MB MBE was.

Will be thinking of you at 2.10 here in Budapest (we are an hour ahead). How wonderful of you to want to do the eulogy. Hopefully the vibes from all of us MNers will help get you through it. But I suspect your own strength and love for a wonderful man will do it. (Helped along by a dash of Welsh stubborness!)

Take care of yourself MB. We are all thinking of you.

Good for you to read it. Good luck with it.

It's all very fresh in my mind as it is not long since we buried my father.

I thought my voice might go singing the Pie Jesu at my father's funeral if things got too sad but it went very well. I was so pleased. It was when I was looking at coffin later that things felt sadder for some reason, more a relief that all the various elements of the service had been got through without a hitch.

The eulogy we did for my father was a bit long so it was slightly rushed. 7 minute sounds much better. We didn't time ours and perhaps we should have done. At my mother's funeral the priest in bad Geordie read it out so at my father's 3 weeks ago my brother read if (after some debate with my sister) but we all wrote it and gave out copies with photos in which is probably unusual but I think people should be able to do what they like at funerals they are organising (within reason). My ex husband an organist did masses of funerals and had lots of amusing stories about things families wanted to do which were not appropriate and the occasional debates the poor vicar had with families at such a difficult time.

Cups of tea all round at 2.10 here in Switzerland. Thinking of you all.

Littlefish · 02/07/2008 07:10

Thinking of you all MB - cup of coffee at the ready.

Prompted by your earlier thread, DH and I are off to the solicitors on Monday to get our Wills written.

Oh MB - I've had a couple of weeks away so have only just discovered your sad news .

Will be thinking of you at 1:10, and wishing you the strength to manage the eulogy yourself.

Thoughts are with you and the children.

MB
Just want to add my good wishes to you and yours for today. You're a brave lady to do the eulogy, but somehow I'm not surprised. .
Hope the weather holds for the fly past.

you will be in my thoughts mb xx

Notyummy · 02/07/2008 08:25

My thoughts are with you as well. Dh will be there tomorrow and helped organise the flypast...he said last night that 'servicability is CRAP, but even if we have to botch tape it together, it will be there!'

I am sure your eulogy will be fantastic.

Blandmum · 02/07/2008 08:31

LOL at servicability. DH would find that most amusing, I well remember him telling me that they would sometimes take off, holding in a circuit breaker just so that they could get airbourn to fly home from a detatchment

and please than you dh

edam · 02/07/2008 08:34

I'll raise my cup at 1.10, MB. The flypast is no more than Sqd Leader MB deserves. Bless you all.

tortoiseSHELL · 02/07/2008 08:39

MB, will be thinking of you all day, and especially at 1.10. Love to you all. x

mistypeaks · 02/07/2008 08:44

Firstly I am so sorry to hear the sad news.
I wish you whatever you need from the service, be it tears, laughter or both.
The funny thing about doing a Eulogy for someone you love.. just before hand you think you can't possibly do it but somehow you do. You may crack halfway through, but somehow you get to the end and you will always be glad you did it. I was asked to do one for my dear dear uncle. I was ok (ish) until I looked up and saw the congregation. The church was so packed out that people were just standing evevrywhere. The doors had to opened as there was overspill into the churchyard. It was a beautiful if incredibly sad sight. One that will stay with me always.
I'll raise my head skywards today for a 'virtual' flypast.
