Advised not to view my brother after post-mortem and embalming

lost my brother last month he had to have an autopsey. it's been a few weeks since he passed but got embalmed. I was going to see him tomorrow in the chapel of rest , but been advised not to due to body condition and if I wanted to I'd have to sign a waiver. I'm so heartbroken I can't say goodbye.😭💔

My dad died very suddenly shortly after his 50 th birthday , had a pm , I made the mistake of viewing him after and it was so awful I went back the next day to check I wasn’t getting it out of proportion. FWIW I’m an ex nurse , seen lots of dead people , been at multiple deaths so not squeamish . I won’t ever view a body at an undertakers again .Sorry for your loss 💐

If that is the advice of the undertaker I would heed it, as he will know that this doesn’t look right.
My dad always says he wishes he’d never seen his dad in an open coffin as the horrible memory of how he looked is what has stayed with him and can’t be erased.

I am very to hear about your brother.

We had the same when my brother died. My mum was devastated, nobody had told us we may not be able to see him.

I trusted the funeral directors, they deal with this day in day out and I said to my mum that my brother wouldn’t have wanted to be seen like this either.

None of us went to see my mum in the funeral home.
I saw her 3 times in the chapel of rest and I couldn’t understand why she wouldn’t wake up when I was begging her to.

I'm so sorry. My sister died last October and I still can't believe it. Take your time and grieve for your brother. Big hugs x

I just went to sit with him in the chapel of rest ( closed coffin) we had his funeral Friday.
