He's at work and I'm pressuming there is no signal on his mobile.

I just keep hitting redial but getting his voicemail

Oh no

So sorry.

nutcracker · 23/08/2007 09:22

Sorry to hear that.

Could you ring the main company he works for and ask them to get a message to him asking him to ring you ?

LilyLoo · 23/08/2007 09:22

Can you not ring the office directly, he could be in meeting

FoghornLeghorn · 23/08/2007 09:26

He's self employed and is out on site - I don't know anyone else he works with as it's a new job.

OP posts:
kitsandbits · 23/08/2007 09:27

Can you drive there / get anyone to drive you there?

nutcracker · 23/08/2007 09:27

Is there any chance someone could drive out to the site ??

LilyLoo · 23/08/2007 09:27

Do you know the name of company he working for, site name ?

FoghornLeghorn · 23/08/2007 09:28

It's over an hour from where I am and about 45 mins from the rest of his family.
I just got through but it cut off - must be signal

OP posts:
FoghornLeghorn · 23/08/2007 09:30

No I just know it's in Kings Langley - no idea what sort of site it is

OP posts:
LilyLoo · 23/08/2007 09:31

Oh dear looks like you will just have to keep trying and then maybe suggest he leaves a number for you to get him on in the future if there was an emergency.

FoghornLeghorn · 23/08/2007 09:33

Got through finally

BandofMothers · 23/08/2007 09:34

is he ok???
How awful

FoghornLeghorn · 23/08/2007 09:39

He seems to be - awful having to tell him over the phone He is going to call his mum to see if she wants him to be with her.
In the last 6 years she has lost her mum, her husband and now her dad

OP posts:
BandofMothers · 23/08/2007 09:40

oh no, that is awful too, poor woman.
Can you all go and stay to be with her???

Presuming you want to and all?

Pinkchampagne · 23/08/2007 09:40

Sorry to hear about your DH's grandad.

FoghornLeghorn · 23/08/2007 09:44

DH has just spoken to his mum, she is at her sisters house atm, she will let him know when she goes home - he was OK til he spoke to her, she is very upset, not really keeping it together.
He says he feels strange and doesn't know what to do - whether to stay on at work or leave, if he leave's where does he go as mum isn't at home yet ?
I have text her to say how sorry I am and to let me know if there is absolutely anything I can do, she said thanks but she can't think straight at the minute. I want to be there to help out as much as poss but don't know whether it's a good idea with DD's (3 and 9 months).
We are going on hols on Monday - DH v. upset we are likely to miss the funeral

OP posts:
BandofMothers · 23/08/2007 09:48

It might help her very much to see them.
We lost mum's ex partner of 8 yrs, and still her best, best friend last year tragically and suddenly, and she loved to see my dd's then 3 and 4 mths. They were like a tonic. It cheered her up and made her see life and all that good stuff. They distracted her. I guess it depends on your MIL's character.
But it did my mum the world of good.

BandofMothers · 23/08/2007 09:49

Can you not reschedule, surely he can't miss the funeral????

FoghornLeghorn · 23/08/2007 09:49

MIL would probably be the same - she lives for her GC - maybe it's just a bit too soon today

OP posts:
FoghornLeghorn · 23/08/2007 09:51

Reschedule our holiday do you mean ?
I don't know to be perfectly honest, I hadn't even thought about it

OP posts:
BandofMothers · 23/08/2007 09:53

hmm, I think it's more imp to be at the funeral, but that's just me. See when it is, it might not be as soon as you expect.
It's probably go with the flow time.
Perhaps tomorrow with the kids.
You could always ask her, or get DH to when he goes to see her when she is home.

FoghornLeghorn · 23/08/2007 10:04

God this is going to sound so selfish but it our first family holiday and it's on Monday so we woulbn't get anything back for cancelling it .....

That was a seriously selfish thought
I will speak to DH later and see what he thinks.

He is leaving work to go and see his brother and wait for his mum to get home - he doesn't want me to go down with the girls, said there is no need

OP posts:
FoghornLeghorn · 24/08/2007 07:41

DH spoke with MIL yesterday, she said she doesn't want us to cancel hols, she was surprised we'd even considered it.
She wishes she was going away so she didn't have to deal with anything
We will be back 2 weeks today and considering the bank holiday there is a slight chance we may be back

OP posts:
BandofMothers · 24/08/2007 07:47

You might possibly be. My friends wasn't for a fortnight after, but I think that's cos there was an inquest.

I hope you can make it. What a shame it will be hanging over your holiday.
I know what you mean tho, have not had a proper holiday for 2 1/2 yrs and I'm not sure I count that as MIL came with us

Hope you're all doing ok.

BandofMothers · 24/08/2007 07:48

I don't think I could've missed it tho.

Where are you going??? Any where I'll be really of??? (ie anywhere)
