what is normal for a 6 week m/c?

I just miscarried at 6 weeks, and as was bleeding heavily opted for a natural clearance. As soon as I got home the bleeding eased off however, and the pain intensified- I nearly blacked out. Anyone know if this is normal, or whether it wil go on like this? Not sure I can cope if so, but have missed this week's opportunity for a procedure apparently. Can these things be done privately if neccesary? Any knowledge welcome, I'm totally at sea

hi everyone, am still going through it. I got an awful stomach bug on thursday night, was ko'd for 48 hours, only had the scan yesterday, which revealed a lot of stuff still in there. So I'm pencilled for the op on friday. I still feel really really tired and hormonal, I hope this will at least move it on. Everyone who has posted having had it says it's not too much of an ordeal, I do hope not, am a bit phobic of anaesthetic

ladypanda sorry to hear what you're going through. Hope the evac helps. It really is awful isn't it. I am currently going through it myself and was wondering if I'd got off lightly (8 wks pregnant and so far bleeding less heavy than my usual period)but it seems it can drag on for a while. Just ran a hot bath and poured myself a large glass of wine (without feeling guilty)- am saving the diclofenac for when they're needed! My scan is on Monday and if needed, will get date for op. Will be thinking of you friday and hope all goes well.

ladypanda, I'm sorry this is still dragging on for you. The op will be fine, I promise, I've had very similar twice. The anaesthetic is very light, and you will be out for the count more or less immediately. It will also make your hCG drop more quickly, which should return you to 'normal' in terms of feeling hormonal.

Will be thinking of you Friday.

'it' = the op, not the anaesthetic

thanks so much for all of those words of calm. Sorry for you plummymummy, I really hope your scan goes the right way. I like the sound of hormones dropping, in my darkest times I can't quell the voice that says maybe they made a mistake and there's still a baby in there- I still feel so pregnant in every way. But I know there's not really, and I really just want to move on. I blew quite a lot of money on an "operation dress" (ridiculuous)today, I maintain I'm allowed.... Again everyone, thanks so much x

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe instead of flowers, fruit etc maybe I'd get people to buy me some pampering stuff like Molten Brown or some lovely fluffy new slippers! It's a good thing you've got a sense of humour - it helps to get you through doesn't it.

Hi Ladypanda, I was scared of the anaesthetic-the last op I had, almost 19 years ago, I was being really sick for ages because of the anaesthetic. When I had my ERPC, I didn't have any after affects from being knocked out and came round really quickly. If there is still "stuff" in there from my experience I think it is best that it is removed.

ladypanda · 01/12/2006 22:43

hi ladies, just to let you know it all went fine, easy anaesthetic, quick recovery, and so far not much pain or bleeding. So relieved it's over ( I hope) and looking forward to moving on.
Best wishes to all of you and thanks again for all the support xx
