doctor appt friday for DS (sicky, off-balance, bad ears)

1000 replies

EdgarAleNPie · 23/02/2011 18:15

right - he's had an anti-biotic ear spray for two weeks. he has been particularly sick the past week so its doing bugger all

my plan for friday is to ask

-for heavy oral anti-bs to realy kick the infection (if it is bacterial, as if its in the inner ear an exterior spray won't touch it).
-for a referral to a paediatrician (which i can always cancel if he gets better before it coes through)

  • anti-emetics/ anti nausea pills? he's been keeping very little food down. quite thin.

how does that sound for a plan?

he already saw audiology, they said 'yes, there's fluid in his ear.' is there any point in seeing them again?

He's now been down with this since November. Gone from running and kicking a ball to staggering around the house and falling over. can't manage more than a few yards without support.

ok, any thoughts?

Edgar Shock

I totally missed this. How scary for you all...

Glad the op went well, best wishes to you and DS and the rest of you family Smile

domesticslattern · 16/03/2011 21:59

Hooray for the pink cake! So pleased to hear it.

skydance · 16/03/2011 22:01

Glad he's managing to eat something, sit up, and have a little play with a ball.

It must have been a very long day waiting on Tues.

KeepCalmAndCurryOn · 17/03/2011 15:08

I am totally in awe of you Edgar. And praying hard, goes without saying.

DaftApeth · 17/03/2011 15:45

Edgar thoughts and prayers with you all.

Wishing you all lots of strength as you embark on the next stage of ds2's treatment.

I spent many months dashing backwards and forwards to hospital to visit dh when he was ill years ago but at least I did not have dcs to worry about then.

MotherJack · 17/03/2011 16:18

So pleased to hear this, Edgar. I will be thinking of you for tomorrow. Waiting is torture. Hope you and your husband are both managing to take breaks and get some fresh air.

tholeon · 17/03/2011 19:33

hi there,

glad all went well and the cake sounds good. xx

I remember the Tooting curry shops well. The intensive care boss-lady (our affectionate nickname, she was v nice) insisted DH and I went to one for a meal once when DS was in her team's care.

Many prayers for Friday.

oh.

DS heart stopped beating yesterday. i had been comforting him as he was in pain from the op, and telling him what a good boy he was, and he sudenly shocked.

they tried to resus for an hour and a half.

I want to remember some happy things about my little boy.

when he as born, he grabed my boob and fed all by himself. I could have sworn he smiled after.

when he was a six monther he bounced in his bouncer with a big big grin on his face.

he stood up for the first time to smile and laugh with his big sister. he always smiled at her.

he loved playingand kicking a ball.

when he 'got' poty training, he leapt off his potty with a jubilant grin and demanded a crisp, then did it again and again all afternoon and I have never seen him so happy.

he was a loving brother to DD and once i left the room and came back to find him gently cuddling her, and stroking her hair.

in the ward before his op he kept on swapping his ball with DD2, and playing with her. he was only 2 years old.

there are many many happy things about his little life.

I have one request - try to kiss your kids before bedtime (even if they are surly teenagers) and spread a little of the happiness my little boy brought us.
