my then five year old telling younger brother to be careful of cables as you don't want to be electric shooted. Well exactly!

motherlovebone · 01/10/2009 12:41

DD, when she forgot, would say she had a bad remembery.

clementines were lemonclines.

nicnacinoonoo · 01/10/2009 12:42

shivster1980 · 01/10/2009 12:44

My DS age 3 still says "Exsnooze me" It's still so cute.

Worryingly I still call towels tallows as that was the word I used as a little un. So do my Mum and my brother.

Cadmum · 01/10/2009 12:45

We've had:
Hippolotamus for Hippopotamus
Cuggle for meld of Hug and Cuddle
Hormendous for Horrendous/humungous
Jumpoline for Trampoline (which seems almost standard on MN)
dd1 (3 at the time) once asked if she was being haved.

dd2 (3) is often heard saying: "That is not going to happened! It is a 'diculous" plan!"

Cadmum · 01/10/2009 12:46

I can't believe that I forgot the use of the word loud as a verb. Both dss used to accuse people of loudying.

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 01/10/2009 12:51

DS 3.5 (has some speech delay)

It's a FUCK!!! (it's a flag)
Dog Shite! (dark outside)
Short Arse (shoulders)

My freind was weeing more than a little bit atme trying to figure out what DS meant this morning while I was on the phone and he was running about shouting SHORT ARSE!!!
When I finally got it she said she liked what it sounded like better than the truth.

StrictlyAvadaKedavra · 01/10/2009 12:54

My 2yo ex-charge loved the film Migh Hoo Scusical

kando · 01/10/2009 12:59

DD3 says "gotfor" instead of forgot, "horeshead" for forehead and nappy snack instead of nappy sack (at which I chuckle every time!)

When DD1 was little she used to call a restaurant a "restranaunt". Some of these are hilarious!

kando · 01/10/2009 13:01

... and another one I've just remembered from dd2: "Mummy look, there's a car without a lid on" as a convertible drove past!

mankyscotslass · 01/10/2009 13:06

DS announced to all my friends in the school playground that mummy liked sexercise.

Mmmcoffee · 01/10/2009 13:09

We taught the kids about bugs and creepy-crawlies at MumsnTots. DD got home, saw ants on the path and sat there singing "Buggers, buggers, buggers" at them.

My friends son couldnt say TR, pronounced it F. Used to yell "Fuck!" every time he saw a big lorry.

MandaHugNKiss · 01/10/2009 13:12

Not really a mispronounciation, but an amusing alliteration mix up all the same.

I arrived at nursery to pick up DS who was about 4 at the time for the teacher to relay this to me.

Teacher: We had a moment today.
Me: Oh?
Teacher: Yes, DS asked me for a cacky, and I didn't know what he meant so I asked if he meant a cookie...
(I'm already inwardly trying not to laugh... cacky was our family name for a 'poo').
... he kept insisting, no I want a cacky, not a cookie until eventually, to shut me up, I think, he said 'Ok, can I have a cacky and a cookie?

When I explained what a cacky was both the teacher (who was male, by the way) and I were laughing so hard. He'd worked it out eventually when DS became exasperated and took the teachers hand to drag him to the toilet 'A cacky, I want a cacky!' He got a cookie, too, for giving the teacher such a laugh.

LadyBuzz · 01/10/2009 13:16

My DS1 loves dressing up as Buzz Lighter and always asks to go to the early whirly centre.

He has a jumpoline too!

sugardumpling · 01/10/2009 13:20

my DS (whos now 10) used to call ice lollys "lob lobs" even now we still call them that!

theagedparent · 01/10/2009 13:20

On holiday my dd asked to go back to the show and tell (hotel) also why was I shaving my crumpets (armpits).

MayorNaze · 01/10/2009 13:22

dd2 is desperate for a pantyleen

dd1 likes hippitypotomouses

ds insisted for a long time that our local paper was called the gusset

translations? trampoline, hippopotomus and gazette

MorePudding · 01/10/2009 13:23

My 5yo had a "sausage dog" for lunch (hot dog). Had visions of a daschund in a bread roll.

LimburgseVlaai · 01/10/2009 13:28

My 7yo dd is obsessed with Harry Potter. It has obviously rubbed off on our 2yo dd, who goes around shouting:

Smelly armus!!

... while waving an imaginary wand.

(For the muggles among you: "Expelliarmus!)

KEAWYED · 01/10/2009 13:29

My son used to like playing with Dicks and shouting about it loudly

This was before he learnt to say stick

Stigaloid · 01/10/2009 13:30

DS (2.2) can't say 'tr' so when he wants to play with his truck it is always

'i want to play with fuck'

He calls my boobs 'boogi-woogie-woogies'

He calls sunscreen 'ice-cream'

KEAWYED · 01/10/2009 13:30

DS1 came home from a party and said mum you know the song guerilla

Started singing it to the Thriller tune I love things like that

LimburgseVlaai · 01/10/2009 13:33

Oh and our 7yo dd calls conditioner (for your hair): "air conditioning".

suwoo · 01/10/2009 13:36

I had a parcel from Lush which was filled with popcorn as the packaging instead of polystyrene.

DS was very taken with the popcorn, but unfortunately was calling it cockporn .

morningpaper · 01/10/2009 13:43

My DD kept telling me that she didn't like Anya as nursery

took me WEEKS before I realised she meant 'lasagne'
