Gro Bag escape....naked child at 3am! Help!

BlueBumedFly · 27/04/2009 09:28

Upon finding DD totally naked at 3am I realise the gro bag has to go. Escapology is now a study for her and if IgglePiggle has a 'blanky' to sleep under then apparently she does too. She will be asking for a flipping blue boat soon!!

What I need to find is a fleecy sleepsuit all in one thing with no feet. She hates her feet being enclosed and I use to cut the feet off her rompers. Then if her duvet gets cast aside she won't cry out do to chillyness... hopefully.

Settling her down for sleep has become a total nightmare of late (she is just 2) so I want a suit I can leave her standing up in the cot in if that is what she wants and then go in and cover her up later once she has gone to sleep.

I saw a website that did zip up fleecy sleepers with no feet but can I find it now I want one? That would be too easy.

Anyone got any ideas please?

V. tired......

ebay?

What about biting the bullet and putting her in a bed with a duvet? DS has slept a lot better since we put him in a bed. Yes, he does get out of it but the novelty soon wore off and he loves being in a big bed.

throckenholt · 27/04/2009 10:15

um - have you tried the grobag on back to front ? that worked for us.

mistlethrush · 27/04/2009 10:18

The older age grobags also have the zip being fully done up with the zip bit at the bottom - ds certainly found these more of a struggle to get out of...

Neena28 · 27/04/2009 10:20

We used to have to turn them back to front and zip up the bag too. DD was amazing at escaping anything from a very young age!

I think what you're after is a Houdini suit, in fleece - bottom of page 8:

My ds went through this stage and I would often go up to bed to find him fast asleep and naked

Putting on his babygrow back to front did the trick. It was also very amusing to watch him desperately trying to work out how to get it off

Thank you everyone. I am going to have to post on Sleep issues now, have just had a total nightmare and am almost in tears.

I cannot put the bag back on back to front sadly as it is high at the back and low at the front. I tried the duvet tonight but she cried so hard so vomited up the whole bottle.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Llareggub - do you think the bed move would help really? I am going out of my mind.

BBF - does the zip do up to the top or down to the bottom? If you haven't tried a down to the bottom one, might be worth a go...

EldonAve · 27/04/2009 21:10

I just ditched the grobag and gave my 2 year old a blanket instead

BlueBumedFly · 27/04/2009 21:37

mistle - top down to the bottom. Have stuck a piece of material over with a popper, that might slow her down!

Eldon - I did tonight then she was sick through rage and now we are back in the bag....

Is there any way of putting the gorbag on inside out? Does it have poppers at the bottom for you to do the zip up inside out?

I found a website that makes them custom made and they are no more expensive than the ones that Verbaudet used to do. I am seriously considering the bed option. Going to take the side down lower tonight and see if that helps her feel less 'cooped' in.

I sewed on a popper to cover the zip too and it did work last night! Inside out!! Genius!

I have used the grobags with a popper over the zip and that was great for a bit as it foxed my little houdini for a while. But now he's moved to a bed we have a Grobag duvet. (I got it from Bump to 3). It has zips down the side so its like zipping them into bed (a bit like it was in the grobag), so it doesn't fall off and it also stops them from falling out of bed. Its a bit of a fiddle to put on, but quick and well worth it once you get used to it. I am hooked now and its so much better than buying bed rails etc. HOpe you sort out the problem, but at least its summer, so not quite so cold...

BlueBumedFly · 28/04/2009 19:42

Debbs - I do like this idea. At the moment she will not lie down so I would struggle to get her inside a zip up duvet but I am hoping longterm she would do that when she moves into a bed.

A question for you - my mooster sleeps on her front with her bum in the air, is there room to do this in the zip up duvets?

I sew'd my DD's grobag up to stop her taking it off. It poppered on the shoulders, so just stitched it up and hey presto, she could no longer escape.

Good Luck

wuglet · 28/04/2009 20:10

Errrr...Primark do those all in one suits - think they still have them in (not that I go in there of course )

BlueBumedFly · 28/04/2009 20:13

mppaw - how did you get her in and out? I had a very amusing image of you sewing her into it at night..... or maybe you did ...

wuglet - horray for primark, I will check, ahem, not that I go their either.....

When sewn up I could pop it over her head, no need for it to be undone.
Got to admit, I was p*ssing myself laughing when I was sewing it up, as I kept imagining her grabbing at her shoulders trying to undo it !! tee hee....evil mummy.

Ripeberry · 28/04/2009 20:18

What i did was get one of those little clips that climbers have and use two keyrings.
One keyring on the zip and the other sewn into the bottom of the growbag and then you just clip it up.
Stopped all escaping!

fymmumoftwo · 28/04/2009 20:21

I tied the grobag zip with ribbon/string every night, and cut it to get him out in the morning - you can do it if it is the travel version with the zips that go from top and bottom, just loop through both zips, tie together and hey presto.

megcleary · 28/04/2009 20:23

we put dds on inside out works a treat
