Gro Bag escape....naked child at 3am! Help!

Upon finding DD totally naked at 3am I realise the gro bag has to go. Escapology is now a study for her and if IgglePiggle has a 'blanky' to sleep under then apparently she does too. She will be asking for a flipping blue boat soon!!

What I need to find is a fleecy sleepsuit all in one thing with no feet. She hates her feet being enclosed and I use to cut the feet off her rompers. Then if her duvet gets cast aside she won't cry out do to chillyness... hopefully.

Settling her down for sleep has become a total nightmare of late (she is just 2) so I want a suit I can leave her standing up in the cot in if that is what she wants and then go in and cover her up later once she has gone to sleep.

I saw a website that did zip up fleecy sleepers with no feet but can I find it now I want one? That would be too easy.

Anyone got any ideas please?

V. tired......

mppaw - LOL! I like you!

Ripeberry, that is ingenious! How on earth did you think of that one? How funny, I reckon we should start a thread with an award for the most ingenious grobag solutions!!

Fymmum - pmsl, brilliant! Cutting his out each morning, we really do need to start an awards thread!!

I don't know about grobags so am a bit confused. Does a 2 year old not just go in a bed with PJs on? Why does she need to be trapped in some way?

cyteen · 28/04/2009 20:53

BBF, H&M do zip-up footless sleepsuits, not sure if they have fleecy ones though. It does my head in because they have they nicest prints of any sleepsuits I've seen, but I hate the footlessness!

Am watching the grobag solutions with interest, not that my lazy baby DS shows any inclination to get out of his...too much of a comfort hog like his parents.

abbier - my dd was in a grobag since birth so it was a routine thing and a feeling of security till she went off them big style! I live in an very old, very creaky, very drafty Victorian house and I could never afford for DD to be cold if the duvet fell off. Lets just say the heating is not as effective as I would like. Now she is bigger and able to pull the duvet over herself which is good but it is taking practice and means some more distrupted nights.

Oh. I've never used a growbag, though I like the look of them. You'll probably find PJs are best I'd think if she doesn't like her feet covered. I find the all in one things quite hard to come by in bigger sizes!
Using a duvet is a good idea...harder to push off than blankets!

Ripeberry · 28/04/2009 21:01

I just did not want to use anything that could be harmfull if my DD did manage to get out of it.
My mum kept saying use a safety pin, but i've got a horror of those, and to think people used to use them on their babies nappies!

BlueBumedFly · 28/04/2009 21:05

cyteen - bless little DS, you lucky thing!!

Ripeberry - I know, my Mum said a safety pin but WTF? What if is un-does and sticks in poor DD. I cannot believe I had them in my nappies, I must have been stuck at some stage surely! I am going to get it out of my Mum one day!!

He's in bed now, so can't check the bottom-in-the-air-space under the duvet, but will ask him to pose tomorrow and see how it would work! I can't believe the comments about sewing them into grobags! Wow, the lengths we go to for us all to have a night's sleep! There must be a better way to stop them getting out - I do like the idea of puting them in back to front!

BlueBumedFly · 28/04/2009 21:17

Debbs, much appreciated, I think this thread is really funny now, we are all going to such lengths it is hilarious!

Sorry, BlueBumbedFly, havent managed to get DS to pose today in duvet, but will do so. Back to grobags, the actual grobag brand ones do definitely have the popper on the oldest size and its specially for stopping older babies getting out. Here is the link to the info on their website:

I hate the idea of safety pins. Sounds like a recipe for disaster! Agree, this thread is so funny, have showed it to my DH!

BlueBumedFly · 29/04/2009 19:41

Debbs, really appreciate you coming back to me, sorry to try to get your DS to pose!

DD went down slightly better tonight and is under the duvet again. I just feel if I can get her back into the habit of actually liking going to bed the gro duvet might be for us!
