Would you know what I meant by a 'quaint' child?

I told DH that I thought DS#2 was that. And that you could tell he was a child of older parents. DH took exception to this but I don't think it's a bad thing.

DS is quite an earnest child, he talks about things in great detail and isn't easily distracted. Don't misunderstand me, he laughs a lot and is a happy little soul, but he does tend to go deeply into things. He doesn't have lots of friends although all the children at school like him, but he gets a bit mithered by big noisy games with lots of people and much prefers to have one best friends than a host of them. He is quite young in his interests - fascinated by animals and dinosaurs, even though at 6 many of his peers have moved on to TV programme characters such as Ben 10 and Spiderman. Some of the children tell him that is babyish. He likes his own company and can keep himself entertained for hours with a few model animals and imagination.

That's what I mean by 'quaint'. What would you call it?

skramble Lovely image (somewhat like a Boden catalogue

Quick question to all parents of QCs:

Were they a particularly tantrummy toddler?
Do they have temper issues now?
Are they perfectionistic?

Not at all tantrummy as a toddler. Whiny sometimes yes but not really tantrumming.

He was/ is also remarkably sensible - never did the eating soil/ smearing Sudocrem type things.

Perfectionist - yes. Upside is he's very tidy - I call him the boy butler sometimes as he seems far better at housekeeping than me. Downside - he won't try something new if he thinks he won't be good at it which is a shame.

p.s. but he was a screaming nightmare colicky baby!

My quaint child is obsessed with olives and parma ham, camembert. I do find it quite embarrassing when she demands olives in the supermarket, actually. It makes me feel like everyone's looking at me thinking 'stupid woman, why doesn't she just give her biscuits like a normal child?'

And she's hardly ever had a tantrum. She is a bit of a perfectionist, though, and really hates getting anything wrong.

spinspinsugar Thanks for your reply. DS was a big tantrummeur (?) and now loses temper quite badly, but, as you say much more in a "not right"/can't contain his feelings way than a deliberate ploy to get his way (unlike DS2....)
