DS is 2.9. Has suddenly taken to watching tv with his hands down his pants and then shouting 'look mummy look'

What is the correct response?

i would just say "yes dear" and carry on with what you're doing

Maveta · 02/02/2009 14:53

hahaha.. ds waved his willy at my mum the other day "Nana! Nana! NANA!"

spongebrainbigpants · 02/02/2009 15:08

Ohmigod!!

My DS is only seven months so haven't reached this delightful stage! No idea!

Coldtits · 02/02/2009 15:12

"Yes, I can see your winky. Put it back in your pants please."

TallulahToo · 02/02/2009 15:24

Tighten his belt! lol

They never grow out of this one, you just have to learn to ignore it ...or laugh at it?

countingto10 · 02/02/2009 15:37

I always threaten to cut if off

In a house of a DH and 4 DSs, one or other of them always has their hands down their pants but DS4 (who is 4 yrs old) is always playing with it and then showing it to everyone

rangichangi · 02/02/2009 21:15

D1 goes through phases of this. Knowing how proud his father is of the family jewels I don't want to dampen his enthusiasum. I do say though that it might get sore if he plays with it too much. Also that it's ok to play with it if he's in his bedroom or at home, but it's not a good thing to do when we're out or if he's at nursery etc as other people don't want to see it. I guess its just boys really!

southeastastra · 02/02/2009 21:17

my mil would say 'a bird will peck it off'

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 02/02/2009 21:17

Ooh, yes, your willy has grown.

Does any other body part do that? Do your fingers do it? Or your foot? Hand? Etc.

Keeps em busy for ages.

rangichangi · 02/02/2009 21:41

oooh...i like the thought of something that'll keep them busy ... I'll try that next time

fruitstick · 02/02/2009 22:03

Littlebella, that's a great idea - will try it.

Not sure about the birds pecking it off though

He has taken to refusing to wear trousers in the house so I suppose this is just a natural progression! My husband informed me that he would behave just the same if he thought he could get away with it!

BananaFruitBat · 02/02/2009 22:09

DS DH is 2. 39. Has suddenly taken to always been watching tv with his hands down his pants and then shouting 'look mummy BananaFruitBat look'

WilfSell · 02/02/2009 22:15

I remember when I was childless and only just beyond adolescence really. Sharing a back seat with a toddler, his parents in the front. Said 2 yo shouted: 'look mummy, my willy's gone all big!'

I went very purple.

TheYearOfTheCat · 02/02/2009 22:15

My oh my!

EyeballsintheSky · 02/02/2009 22:16

DH sits with his hands down his pants as well. He says it's warm and cosy down there. I have threatened to sit with my hands in my pants but he was suitably shocked. Didn't stop him doing it though

Mummyfor3 · 02/02/2009 22:17

They all do it - my DS2 currently in this delightful stage aged 4 yrs.
DS1, almost 6, is now more discreet.
DS3 10monhts, has discovered his bits and can pull them to alarming lengths, but is not at all bothered about social niceties yet .

I usually say something like "yes, dear, shall we read a book/draw a picture/go into the garden?" ie anything to distract him.

mrsdisorganised · 02/02/2009 22:19

pmsl!! As a mum of 4 dd's I know nothing about little boys...oh my sister (has 1 ds) is in for fun! Will show her all your advice.....

CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/02/2009 22:20

Hmmmm......saying "Yes, dear" when they say "Look at my willy!" is all well and good. Works fine for a while.......But wait till they start to ask why it goes hard when they touch it!!! How on earth do you explain that to a 3 year old in simple terms when you are in a rush to get to nursery?!

Mummyfor3 · 02/02/2009 22:22

I just say that, yes, all penises to this from time to time and leave it at that. Like I said distraction works!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/02/2009 22:25

That doesn't really work when you have a really inquisitive son though. My DS2 would accept "all penises do this from time to time", but my DS1 always has to know the reason for EVERYTHING. There was no fobbing him off with answers like "they just do".

DS1 started school this year - just hope he doesn't bring it up (erm) as a topic for Show & Tell!

DS1 is 4 and seems to be at the same stage also. In fact, I was getting a bit concerned and was going to ask on here, but looks like this "normal" behaviour for a boy that age. I have no brothers just sisters so this is all new for me. And us girls definitely didn't wander around all day with our hands in or on our pants.

Last week he was wrapping it around his finger in the bath!!!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/02/2009 22:30

Yep - sounds normal to me! My DS1 went through a stage of pouring water on his from a beaker he held up quite high when he was in the bath. He used to watch it getting bigger and just sit giggling to himself!!!! He's grown out of that now though......same with sitting with his hands down his pyjamas whilst watching telly in the morning. (that was a LONG phase!!!)

Am just waiting for my nearly 3 year old to go through all that......
