No reason other than I'm a bit curious and nosy and a bit proud of ds's drawings although they are probably the norm

However, we're allowed to be stupidly pleasedat our lo's achievements aren't we!

DD could manage pictures with recognisable features such as people and animals, but TBH she just wasn't that bothered. She was more into writing and letters; still is TBH.

On MN have seen huge wide range of drawing abilities at this age.

Enjoy it; and yes you can be proud.

Not much really.

Very basic people (a head with eyes, nose, mouth and ears but no body, just arms and legs coming off a big head )

Hearts and flowers (can you tell i've got dd's )

And a rather dashing rainbow, with maybe the odd bee or spider, lol.

Of course we're allowed to be stupidly pleased at our LO's acheivements - you'd have thought i won the lottery the first time my dd's blew their own noses

Lilyloo · 23/11/2008 20:44

ds was nothing recognisable dd1 can do face body and legs etc for a person !
She is much better than ds was! What can your lo do ?

MissisBoot · 23/11/2008 20:45

DD can draw recognisable people - head, hair, eyes, mouth, body, arms and legs, hands and feet.

She also does lanscape pictures - beach scenes, mountains etc,

She is 3.6

WhatFreshelleisthis · 23/11/2008 20:48

DS1 is 4.10 and does people, elephants, houses.

DS2 is 3.10 and does people, rockets and rainbows - all looking exactly the same

MadamAnt · 23/11/2008 20:49

DD is 3.10 and is massively keen on drawing. She's been able to do v good stick people since she was about two and has more recently branched into animals and "scenery". (I think I'm allowed to brag, as it's balanced by my many whinges on here about her "challenging" behaviour in other areas .

MmeLindt · 23/11/2008 20:52

DS (4yo) can do basic people, with arms, legs, eyes, massive ears

DD (now 6yo) at that age was doing very detailed drawings. Our kindergarten teacher told us to get her into art classes as her drawings were so good.

She still loves drawing and painting and has recently started sculpture classes with a friend of mine.

JumpingJellyfish · 23/11/2008 20:54

DS- 3.5- draws monsters, "spiky fish", train tracks, sharks, dragons- all look the same! although he can now finally manage circles & lines, and is also getting the idea at last about colouring meaning trying to stay within an outline. So to outsiders it doesn't really look like he can draw at all...but sure it'll come eventually!
Sounds like your DS must be pretty good & you should be pleased at his achievements !

ds (4) is so reluctant to draw/write....wish I could pique his interest

bythepowerofgreyskull · 23/11/2008 20:58

DS1 is 4.7 he draws faces and people he likes drawing food he draws alot of pictures with rain in them at the moment and the rain is a fringe of lines along the top of the picture.

littlelamb · 23/11/2008 21:00

Dd is 4.5 and I have been really amazed at the stuff she has been doing in the last month or so- her latest masterpiece was a bike

NorbertDentressangle · 23/11/2008 21:02

dinny -I've got one of those.

He just isn't interested in picking up a pencil which is the total opposite to his sister at this age.

He has (reluctantly) drawn people of the "round heads with features and arms /legs that come directly off the "head" variety

dinny · 23/11/2008 21:04

lol, Norbert - yes, mine is sooooo different from his dd too! her fave thing in the world is drawing

ds is totally into Match Attacks

and cutting and sticking

but not drawing!

thatsnotmymonster · 23/11/2008 21:05

He is 3.6 and can draw people with eyes, noses, mouth hair, body, arm, hands, fingers, legs, feet and toes! He drew one yesterday that was about 2 inches high so really small and detailed and then he wrote 3 letters of TOBY in tiny writing.

He can also draw diggers, has drawn a good dog with ears, nose and tail coloured in, and a rocket with fire coming out and coloured moons and planets all around

You can tell he's a boy, huh? No rainbows or hearts here!

LOL at mouth hair

thatsnotmymonster · 23/11/2008 21:08

DD is 2.4 and came up the other day saying that she had drawn a roundabout- of course it was circular scribble- I was stupidly pleased- LOL

OP posts:
thatsnotmymonster · 23/11/2008 21:09

LOL at that too! Obviously meant mouth, hair but he would probably add a nice moustache if so inclined!!

DD is 3.8. Drew her first "aliens" (mummy , daddy, me) about 3 months ago and it's amazing how far she's come since then. Drew the two of us under an umbrella, people lining up in a row at school and a dragon. All a bit rough but recognisable. Just starting to show interest in writing letters of her name. Oh and her arms have suddenly stopped coming out of heads, and her people have torsos now. That's in this last week. I'm quite fascinated with the progress and enjoy comparing the latest with her first attempts.

noonki · 23/11/2008 21:19

DS1 is 3.3 and he can do faces with stick bodies. and does very intricate pictures of scribbles that have a looooong explanation!

And can write his name in very wobbly letters

DS2 is 18 months and was very quietly drawing for ages on his own this pm, and we walked in to find a multicoloured masterpiece all over the wall. He is obviously a budding Banksy

JumpingJellyfish · 23/11/2008 21:30

thatsnotmymonster- you definitely should be proud- that's brilliant! I'm afraid my DS is a long way off all that, he lives in another world spends ages explaining that the house is now a pirate ship etc etc complete with a full array of weird creatures...and acting all sorts of crazy scenarios out (which generally involve clambering about a lot, and never sitting still) The beauty in diversity eh
