ds is a whacker and is a stroppy wotsit but today he was so imaginative. we played with some animal puppets but he decided that the duck was Noddy, the crab was Sly and the chicken was Gobbo. A horse became Noddy's car and a game was born that lasted ages.
tell me what lovely thing your 'orrible dc has done today

Can I tell you what DS said last Friday? It was my birthday and we lit the candles on the cake for him to blow out (after I'd had my turn ) - well, he tried to blow but said, 'Mummy, I can't blow, I'm too happy.' And he was - he was smiling so much that he couldn't blow them out.

It was the loveliest part of my day

My wilful, determined but gorgeous 22month old is only saying the odd word here and there. However the other day I somehow managed to put on some makeup and wear something fairly decent for the first time in a long time - when I walked in the room she said 'WOW'

My mum heard her and was in fits of laughter, so sweet.

phdlife · 04/11/2008 20:52

at 18m mine has just learned to give me "butterflies" (batting eyelashes on my cheek). awwwww.

unknownrebelbang · 04/11/2008 20:56

My three have been driving me crackers in recent weeks (I've been unwell, so it's also over-reaction on my part ) but I've spent a lovely hour with DS1,14 this evening whilst shopping.

Rather rather than his usual hormonal bag of bones, he's been quite philosophical and very amusing,

Blissful sighs all round.

porgie · 04/11/2008 21:05

my monster led down on his front in the bath and let me wash his hair, then let me clean his teeth, all without a winge.

Pheebe · 04/11/2008 21:15

Today ds1 (4yo) swooped into the living room where I was playing with ds2 (1yo) kissed him, kissed me, announced "I love my family" and flounced off to find his Daddy

Then promptly climbed on the breaskfast bar and knocked his tea onto the floor

deaconblue · 05/11/2008 11:15

all lovely and have made me

DS (3yo) had a frankly stroppy day, culminating in him sitting in the high-chair in the laundry room while DH cleared up after tea. He started making up a story, which went like this: 'Once upon a time there was a daddy and he was a cross daddy and this cross daddy's name was DS's daddy. This cross daddy caused confusion and delay...' DH had to leave the room at this point to have a good laugh. Shame, because I would love to know if the cross daddy got his come-uppance in the end!

DD1 2.11 has just started saying "Have a good day" to Daddy as he gets out of the car.

DD2 14 mo has just learned to give kisses.

Lizzylou · 07/11/2008 19:42

DS1 was lovely with a poorly DS2, performing an impromptu puppet show for him to cheer him up (first time his little brother has smiled today)
DS2 has a bad cold/cough and has been stuck to me like a Koala, which was a hindrance at times, but also made me feel very needed as he has been majorly favouring his new CM now I've gone back to work.

meandmyjoe · 07/11/2008 19:59

Aww this is a lovely thread, I like ones like this! Not quite as impressive as all your stories but I told my ds (15 months) that we were going out to the park and I put his little coat and shoes on. When I went to put my shoes on in the hallway, he followed me and went and climbed into his pushchair and just sat and waited for me to strap him in and smiled at me. Only a small thing but it made me realise how wonderful he can be. Just 3 months ago I'd have had to wrestle him into the bloody pushchair and he'd have whinged all the way to the park trying to get out. Now he just sits and points things out to me all the way there and it's gorgeous not to have a battle everytime I want to go out the front door!

That's lovely (to Cat and to meandmyjoe), some days it's hard to think of the good, isn't it?

When I asked my very boyish, 'dont like girls or anything pink' 4YO DS if he liked my new dress he said "Mummy you look like a princess." But don't tell his friends!

glitterkitty · 07/11/2008 23:04

DS (18 month) and still bf told me last night - after sitting up for an hour trying to get him back off to sleep- while stroking my boob- 'num num pretty'

callmeovercautious · 07/11/2008 23:10

meandmyjoe - I say a prayer every day we get that sort of reaction - because every other one is the opposite

All really nice stories. Esecially the big boy ones

Here's mine: Tonight when DD (2) and I were cuddling on the sofa she noticed a sore patch of excema on my hand. She said "give me sore hand" so I did. She kissed it and "all better now?" and you know what - it is all better now

That one moment is worth 100 tantrums.

colander · 07/11/2008 23:12

DD1 wrote me a card saying "to my lovely mummy"

DD2 has been giving me really big cuddles all day (which probably means she isn't feeling well, but I have enjoyed being squeezed!)

notsoteenagemum · 07/11/2008 23:12

After months of dd and ds not being able to be in the same room as each other without fighting, ds aged 4 came out of school with his first reading book.
He rushed to tell dd aged 8 about it and they walked home hand in hand chatting, as soon as we got in she helped him read it then asked if she could go to the shop to buy him a treat with her own money.
Proud mum smile

Twims · 09/11/2008 22:51

These are all lovely - bump

notnowbernard · 09/11/2008 22:55

DD1 got her and dd2 their breakfast while dp and I had a lie-in

Then she got the colouring books out and they sat for ages colouring

Bliss... got up just after 9am!

DD (2 years) got a blanket, put it over the dog, and he stayed absolutely frozen. She then got her teddy bear, but it on the dog's back and said, 'Bear car...'

And then gave the dog a big kiss

SlartyBartFast · 09/11/2008 23:08

dd gave her party prize to anotehr child, it was my dd's birthday, and the other girl had inadvertantly missed a "go".
very proud, particularly since she had been sulking that she wouldnt necessarily win a prize at her own party
