she is 2.2 (in a few days).

She said it clearly, over and over, all syllables, with no baby mispronunciation.

How sad am I? I was soooooooooooo proud [proud mummy emoticon]

Come on, rub my PFB ego please?!!!!

My ds pronounces 'lawnmower' as 'bumblower' for some reason. Every time, I PMSL.

chipmunkswhereareyou · 29/08/2008 11:08

Ds (3) calls my face moisturiser 'monsturiser'. I hope I don't look more monstrous after putting mine on in the morning...
Very cute

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 29/08/2008 12:41

DD (2.6) says 'tramp' for 'tram' and 'mountain' for 'fountain'.

Oh and 'wally' for 'willy'

skidaddle · 29/08/2008 12:57

My DD (2.9) calls Winnie the Pooh 'Pooh bear the winnie' and calls lollypop ladies 'ladypops'. She also used to call birds 'woof woofs'

I like to adopt her cuter versions of words in order to prolong their use - does this make me a bad parent - will she still be saying 'ladypops' when she's a teenager?

katiechops · 29/08/2008 13:12

DD (23 mths) says "bumbella" instead of "umbrella" which always makes me smile.

The other day I did a burp when we were in the car (I'd just drank a can of coke) and she piped up from the back seat "Mummy burpy! Naughty mummy!" Very cute!!

ClareVoiant · 29/08/2008 13:27

yes, lackadaisycal, he has got a lot to answer for :-) like your ds, Thomas has also help him recognise numbers from the trains.

lol skiddadle at 'ladypops'

when ds sneezes he says "blessyou me".

Is amazing howfast they pick up the language, however, ds hasn't quite got the knack of the future tense, so he says things like "when I was a mummy, I used to xyz"

Iklboo · 29/08/2008 13:30

Ds likes to eat scrumpled egg

LittlePushka · 30/08/2008 22:54

Oh how delightful all these babies are!!

More! More! More!

Weegle · 02/09/2008 16:23

Bumping this thread - I've had a pants day and this has made me smile.

DS (2.3) calls Mayonnaise "Mayatmalaise", too cute, a helmet is a "Moormit" and just to be completely poncetastic, at the zoo on Sunday he said "Mummy, those penguins are swimming in turquoise water" - the looks from the surrounding mums were priceless.

LittlePushka · 05/09/2008 15:40

Weegie, hope your days are a little better.

Very impressive performance in zoo mini-weegie!

Hope this makes you smile,...DS1 nearly 2 just started calling the lap top the "computooter".

I remember being very proud of DS2 when he could say "combine harvester".

Now, I am also mother of DS3 (aged four, autistic) and am terribly excited that he is just starting to say a few single words of one syllable .

SoupDragon · 05/09/2008 15:50

On holiday BabyDragon (2.6) thought we got our lunch from the beach bargapoo. Sadly, only 1 month later she looks witheringly at me and says "No, beach barbeque". [sigh]

LittlePushka · 05/09/2008 16:03

Oh how wonderful Six,..you must feel like he won an Olympic gold...as indeed he has in my eyes .

Will never have another bargapoo again without thinking of this thread!

SixSpotBurnet · 05/09/2008 16:49

thanks

belgo · 05/09/2008 16:50

my dd1's first wrod was 'aeroplane' at age 18 months

sphil · 05/09/2008 23:29

When he was about 3 DS1 (now 7) used to call a loo roll a 'wee-wee steamroller', nostrils 'bogeysholes' and marmalade 'Lady Marmite'

Flibbertyjibbet · 05/09/2008 23:40

At 18m my son pointed into the sky at the object buzzing over head and said his first word...

Erdicocter.

Was I impressed, was I happy at his first word being 4 syllables?

Was I feck. I just said 'never mind erdicocter, what about M-U-M-M-Y ???'

He is still a little man of few words, just long ones

LittlePushka · 06/09/2008 19:41

Wonderful! More examples of cute please, there must be zillions

As it tipped it down yesterday DS1 and I looked out of the door.

He said, " Mammy,... very raining".

funnypeculiar · 06/09/2008 19:56

ds still calls caravans 'calibans', and says 'Fffuuuge' for huge because we're are too mean to correct him like it.
He's off to school in a few weeks

trixymalixy · 06/09/2008 19:57

"Oooooh geeer" is my 19 month old's favourite phrase.

Generally after he has tipped his raisins all over the floor!
