she is 2.2 (in a few days).

She said it clearly, over and over, all syllables, with no baby mispronunciation.

How sad am I? I was soooooooooooo proud [proud mummy emoticon]

Come on, rub my PFB ego please?!!!!

DS six still says "please you may I have....?" (have also never bothered to correct him). 'tis very cute.

mrsbabookaloo · 28/08/2008 23:45

If you're just going to indulge yourselves over how cute your two year olds are.....I must join in!

dd (2.1) says "Beep beep hooray!" when she's finished singing happy birthday to herself... I love it!

NoBiggy · 28/08/2008 23:45

DD2 is very keen on helicopters (she's 2 next week). Started out calling them copt. Then copter. Once in a while she says helicopter.

She says whole sentences when she's not trying. Couple of days ago DD1 tossed a dolly towards her. DD2 said "thank you. That was kind of her. She's very kind." I was impressed. And that's a DD1 type of phrase so that's where she's picked it up from.

LittlePushka · 28/08/2008 23:48

My 19 month old Ds2 says mummy and it's so so cute the way he says it, he also says mama. He says nanny really sweetly too and daddy, but they all sound more like mummmeeee, nannneeeee, daddeeeee hehe. It's amazing the words he learns every day, he calls his brother Morgan yahyah and his sister Caitlin is caitin hehe.

So lovely.

I mean, of course its not the only word she can say. That would be a bit unusual wouldn't it?!!!

"What was your baby's first word?"
'helicopter'
"oh really?"

Don't you believe it, Pavlov: my db, now 54, was apparently a very slow speaker, but from saying nothing until he was 2 and a half apparently suddenly looked up into the sky and said, "Oh look, there's a helicopter!" - so it was one of his first words!!

charchargabor · 29/08/2008 00:13

My DD is nearly 13 months, and has been saying Daddy for ages, but had never said Mummy. The other day she started calling me 'Moany' which has stuck! So today she was chasing me round the house shouting 'Moany, moany!' It's also her name for bfing. Yesterday she was lying down about to have a feed and hugged my boob and said 'aaaah, moany,' then latched on. It was so cute!

LittlePushka · 29/08/2008 00:14

DS1 also cannot say the name of the flatulent dog (ehem,..)which is Oscar,...so he calls him Sock. Hee hee

StayFrosty I can see what you mean with that, all of a sudden he is saying lots of new words every day. He says so much more than he did a month ago even. It's so amazing how fast they learn

PavlovtheCat · 29/08/2008 08:31

It goes up so fast doesnt it, from barely speaking to talking in full sentence can happen very fast...I remember when I recalled every new word she said, and then, when she could say two words together, then what three words she started to say...I used to write them down so I had a record of how she started to speak (sad I know), but I gave up a long time ago as I cant write fast enough!!!

She can sing 'twinkle star, twinkle star, wonder, are, sky, diamond (with her fingers put into a diamond shape above her head), twinkle star) completely out of tune..

She has told me she is going 'shops, day, mummy, daddy work, day, bella not working, shops'

overthehill at helicopter being the first word!

Ds never stops saying helicopter .......

But my dad is a helicopter pilot and takes him flying in it alot so I think thats why.

theangelshavethephonebox · 29/08/2008 08:41

DS is 2.3 and has just started saying "bannister" correctly - before it was "bannismister" which always made me laugh.

He likes Abba and has just been dancing around singing "mamma mia, here go again, my my, (pause) mamma mia, here go again..."

lulumama · 29/08/2008 08:42

my brother's first word was lawnmower!

2point4kids · 29/08/2008 08:44

DS1 is nearly 3 and he calls helicopters 'olliekiptikers'
He tries so hard to copy me and get it right but always goes back to his own version lol

Whenever he farts I say to him 'pardon you' to try and get him in the habit of being polite and now in public he farts and shouts 'pardon YOU' while pointing at me

2point4kids · 29/08/2008 08:46

Yesterday he told me that 'Its windy today. Tress taller more windy!' because the trees were blowing about more at the top than the bottom.

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 29/08/2008 08:48

My DD 2.6 said 'Triceroptop' yesterday (DH got her one from the Natural History Museum!)

ClareVoiant · 29/08/2008 09:58

Loving this thread ds nearly 3 has always called them 'haroldcopter', but he's expanded his air travel repotoir (sp) now to include spitfire and byby plane since we went to an airshow :-)

LackaDAISYcal · 29/08/2008 10:52

lol at "haroldcopter". Thomas the Tank Engine has a lot to answer for

actually it was thanks to Thomas that my DS could count 10 when he was 2
