FAQ · 22/07/2008 19:15

no

mrschop · 22/07/2008 19:16

I did as I have wooden floors and DD kept slipping in her tights. Not sure I went for the 'they'll reject shoes later if you don't use them now' line peddled by Clarks

tiredlady · 22/07/2008 19:17

No not proper clarks cruising shoes.
But dd does wear those soft leather slip on things - daisy roots, inch blue - those things

FAQ · 22/07/2008 19:18

I just took DS3's socks off when on slippery floors

Admittedly DS1 and 2 did wear shoes before walking - but that was H's doing.

DS3 got his first shoes a few weeks ago and although the first 2/3 weeks he rejected them/refused to walk in the, now he doesn't care/

bumbly · 22/07/2008 19:18

ok was asking as was thinking of those clarks cruising shoes as got lfimsy shoes and they are really crap and prevent ihm from crawling!

just put him in socks/bare feet

NormaStanleyFletcher · 22/07/2008 19:19

I thought the advice was no shoes until they have been walking (without holding on) for 6 weeks

That is what I followed

Gap socks with grips on the bottom (or bare feet) worked fine on our laminate / wood

FeelingDeviant · 22/07/2008 19:20

no
bare feet helps them grip better

mrschop · 22/07/2008 19:20

The other thing I found was if I left DD in bare feet for cruising, she got little blister/sores on the tops of her toes from them dragging along the floor when she crawled

pgwithnumber3 · 22/07/2008 19:21

No shoes, did buy those Clarks cruising shoes for DD1 but imo big marketing ploy to get you to spend money on shoes before you need to.

In the days before Clarks I am sure we managed to evolve from mammal to man without cruising shoes!

mckenzie · 22/07/2008 19:22

my RLF is an eminent podiastrist and she said no shoes for cruising when I asked her many years ago!

ten10 · 22/07/2008 19:24

I put my DS in Robeez - really soft leather slipper type shoes, he was crawling and cruising in these from 7 months so didn't slow him down at all.
(there are various other brands which friends have had which work just as well i just thought the Robeez were so cute)

these were really good on the wooden floors as he didn't slip much and were difficult for him to pull off so more successful than many other baby shoes

but i think that you should only really go into more sturdy shoes when they are walking properly

Seona1973 · 22/07/2008 19:25

I used cruising shoes for dd and ds but more for when we went out and about and to other peoples houses. When they were indoors they mainly had bare feet or socks.

MrsBadger · 22/07/2008 19:28

nope

bare feet all round here

dd got a blister on the ball of her foot from dragging it round on the carpet while cruising though

shoes? When they're not walking?

It was either bare feet, socks or those bootee things.

pointydog · 22/07/2008 19:31

lol - really? You get cruising shoes now?
I am so out of touch with babies

meglet · 22/07/2008 19:38

definately not. socks / bare feet are fine. We got the cruising shoes when DS was almost walking (and the weather was nicer) so he could practise outside though. He cruised from September to April though, took ages to walk!

LisaJasper · 22/07/2008 19:43

When i went to get my DS his first shoes after he had been walking for a week or so the lady from Clarks was very shocked that he had never worn another shoe even though he had been cruising for a couple of months. She said the whole thing about rejecting the shoes and that I should go for cruising shoes anyway. I took her advice as I wanted to make sure he would be happy in shoes, but got the hardest possible ones as I only wanted them for outdoor use - he goes barefoot indoors and now the weather is nice usually outdoors too. It was also cheaper to by the cruisers!!! Anyway, I agree it should be barefoot until they can walk and then a light shoe once walking (but not for indoors). My DS was crusing at 9 months and walking at 11 months so barefoot didn't do him any harm!!

pgwithnumber3, Hi, stalker alert!!
just wanted to let you know ive posted a message to you on the other thread
the one about dds sleeping in chat

bumbly, i dont bother, i let dd walk/try to! bare foot in the house, i think its better for the feet.
when shes walking i will just put shoes onher for outside.

Habbibu · 22/07/2008 21:09

These are fab on wooden floors for when it's cold. Am a big fan of bare feet indoors in general, but on cold days these are great.

katiepotatie · 22/07/2008 21:10

Bare feet inside, think it's better for there little feet. Only shoes if she is outside, I did go for cruisers though

melrose · 22/07/2008 21:13

bare feet inside and outside here

wasabipeanut · 22/07/2008 21:18

nope - bare feet indoors and some funky little open toe sandals for outdoors when I remember! If it was colder I'd just put socks on him outdoors.

Nappyzoneneedsanewname · 22/07/2008 21:22

nope - bare feet here - at £28 i tried to delay that expense!! they even do crawling shoes - such a con to get you to part with your readys... I am a self confessed tight arse though....
