I thought MY dd was the Queen of Whinge!

lol

janeybops · 16/01/2005 20:31

The most annoying thing is all the stickers she gets from Nursery for Being such a good tidier upper and for being helpful!

The teacher said she was so considerate of others and kind at parents evening. I nearly fell off the (miniature) chair!

CountessDracula · 16/01/2005 20:39

Oh good dd has just emptied a bottle of milk all over her mattress on purpose and sang "when you wish upon a star your dreams come true" to me as I was clearing it up

Do you think if I wished she could be a nice, good girl that would come true?

Feeling MUCH better after a large glass of wine

Funny, yesterday she was a little angel all day and today the devil!

Yesterday we were queueing in M&S and she shouted very loudly at the nice lady talking to her that Mummy and Daddy put toothbrushes up their bottoms! FFS I went bright pink - luckily when the lady had asked her name a couple of minutes earlier she had said Poppy Pig so I really hope she thought dd was telling fibs about the toothbrushes too

Know just how you feel......DD is a bit older, but "the song remains the same". I look forward to the weekends so we can get in some wonderful dd/mummy time, as far too often I feel I'm not able to focus on her properly during the week. Then, the weekend comes, and with it the inevitable power struggles, stubborn behaviour, constant (and often unreasonable) demands - and I watch my perfect fantasy family weekend with dd disintegrate. Find that I'm desperate for Monday morning when I can get some time to myself! Guess we just can't win!

Caligula · 16/01/2005 22:20

God I'm so glad you started this thread CD. I was just thinking of starting a new one saying "I'm going to murder my almost 3 year old, positive parenting doesn't bloody work, I just want her to do what I tell her sometimes without having to have a battle royal, what am I doing wrong?"

Is it not just her then?!

mummylonglegs · 16/01/2005 22:34

Well, CD, she does sound kind of creative ...

My dd's 2.3 and hasn't found her 'temper' yet but is becoming more and more of a control freak and a complete ego-maniac. Especially when it comes to me. She's better with dp in general.

BUT I also feel she's quite 'schizophrenic' in the sense that she veers now between being so adorable and sweet to being utterly impossible. I'm not a bad tempered person at all by nature but I do find myself tested to the limit more and more. And I know it's going to get worse!!!

Although I was also under the illusion that between 3-11 they were supposed to become your best mate ...

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 16/01/2005 22:39

best mate between 3 and 11 huh? someone neglected to tell my DDs1&2

Fran1 · 16/01/2005 22:46

I'm just jealous of all you guys saying thank god they're in bed.

My dd is still awake in the next room

unicorn · 16/01/2005 22:49

Can I suggest that we all have a collective group hug{{}}}}} whenever it gets tough (could be quite frequent here!)

You know that saying about only being sent children that you can deal with?.... well I must be a VERY VERY strong woman!!!!!!!!

CountessDracula · 16/01/2005 22:51

Oh yes pls I need it tonight Also canNOT cope with being ill ALL the time (dd and me both had horrible tummy bug, then a week break and a chest infection, then a week break and a vile cold, then a week break and now ANOTHER chest infection/cold oh god it's vile )

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 16/01/2005 22:52

Does everyone else catch every cold and bug that their 2yo has?

OP posts:
unicorn · 16/01/2005 22:52

{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}} hugs...
Just for you and dd Cd!!!

CountessDracula · 16/01/2005 22:54

Ahhhhhhhhhhh feel better already.

Just had dh telling me that it is a nightmare and he hates it - well fucking great, it's soooooooooooo horrible for poor little him swanning around feeling fine while we are both ill, how inconvenient for him

OP posts:
Caligula · 16/01/2005 22:54

Yes. Not to mention their bloody nits.

Does everyone else feel like they're permanently screaming at the child followed by big hugs and sorries, and feeling that this is not a good example of positive parenting?!

unicorn · 16/01/2005 22:54

Yep, my ds (3 in about a week) just hands over his viruses, and I am an eager (not) recipient!!

We were all really ill over xmas too... so my sympathies are with the dracula household.

CountessDracula · 16/01/2005 22:55

Oh yes we have had nits twice in the past 2 weeks as well

OP posts:
Caligula · 16/01/2005 22:55

Have visions of the dracula household all sneezing and scratching in their coffins!

unicorn · 16/01/2005 22:57

nits!!!!!!! don't talk to me about the damn things.....

Got rid of them from the kids....

to find myself crawling with the little bugg**s!!!!!!!!!

unicorn · 16/01/2005 22:57

caligula

Earlybird · 16/01/2005 23:00

CD - sounds as if you could use another big glass of wine!

I definitely catch whatever dd gets. She seems to recover quite quickly, while it lingers longer with me. I've only last week gotten over a bad cold/cough that I got from her at the start of December! Don't know if it helps, but I've gotten her some chewable children's echinacea that we take at the first sign of a sniffle or cough. Also she takes a multivitamin daily, which I hope makes up for the gaps in her diet. Do you think that might help you too/you two?
