It was tuppence when I was little.

doggiesayswoof · 09/04/2008 15:45

Dd never says vulva either. She just uses bottom indiscriminately and points to the relevant area (only 3 though, so fair enough)

I don't think vulva sounds harsh tbh.

Katelyn · 09/04/2008 16:09

We called it a Minnie when i was little and I think i'll do the same with mine...

Slubberdegullion · 09/04/2008 16:15

vulva

RUMPEL · 09/04/2008 16:15

ladybits

RUMPEL · 09/04/2008 16:16

My Mum used to call it 'pussie' God I DETEST that - it sooo awful!

izzybiz · 09/04/2008 16:17

Foo foo.

Mine was a minnie when I was little, I grew up prfectly well aware of what body parts are really called and have no hang ups now.
Just don't see anything wrong with pet names for things when they are little!

An elderly relative used to call it her butterfly cake. Which thinking about it, is almost symbolic - but has put me off eating them!

lilymolly · 09/04/2008 18:15

lu lu

dancingonthelilypads · 09/04/2008 18:15

Mary-Jane

MegSophandEmma · 09/04/2008 18:16

we call it a foof in this house

dancingonthelilypads · 09/04/2008 18:17

My grandmothers poodle was called Lu-Lu!!
But then I hope I don't offend anyone with Mary-Jane!!

dancingonthelilypads · 09/04/2008 18:17

Love the foof!

FrannyandZooey · 09/04/2008 18:18

You can get used to calling it a vulva and it does ensure that your dc will never be having this conversation about 'but I feel uncomfortable using the real words'

my mother never gave it a name at all - I found it quite hard to say vulva to ds when he asked - but we all coped

PollyPentapeptide · 09/04/2008 18:20

It's a miff surely?

No way can it be called a minnie. How can you take your kids to 'Musical Minis' if you call it that?

princessmel · 09/04/2008 18:21

Vulva. dd (2.8) calls it vulva.

She was holding her Winnie the Pooh today and said Winnie has a vulva. I suppose it looks more like a vulva than a penis

My mum seemed a bit shocked. She said, ds calls it a willy and its not a willy so why does she say vulva. Good point really.

CountessDracula · 09/04/2008 18:21

how about flaps
short and to the point

donnie · 09/04/2008 18:21

we say minnie too.

BloodyHell · 09/04/2008 18:21

Vagina. Ok so techincally the vagina is the "passage" but it's universally understood by all as female parts and will not get confused with a scandinavian car that has its headlights on in the day time.

dancingonthelilypads · 09/04/2008 18:23

My girls do know its a vulva but we don't tend to usually call it so. Surely Mary-Jane or foof sounds so much more fun!
Anyway a penis is called a willy in our house too so such a formal name for female genitals would upset all the balance.

princessmel · 09/04/2008 18:23

I used to call it 'wee wee bottom'.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/04/2008 18:24

LOL! It's not a harsh word at all. In fact, no harsher than ulna, femur, knee, finger etc. In fact, it's almost like saying 'velvet' or 'volvo'. Velvet vulva volvo velvet vulva volvo velvet vulva volvo

Slubberdegullion · 09/04/2008 18:25

BloodyHell you are wrong there. For those of us that attended GCSE biology and listened the vagina is always going to be the passage through which the baby is born (and where the penis goes if you are making a baby).

calling yourr external genitalia your vagina is wrong.

I don't call my knee my ankle so I don't know why I would tell my daughters that their vulvas are their vaginas.

dancingonthelilypads · 09/04/2008 18:25

ok so you got me with the velvet vulva, but you wouldn't want to mix it up with the volvo.
