mine does as its winter, she wore neither in 12-18 months as i was pregnant

lulalullabye · 17/02/2008 21:19

We still use poppered vests but in pj's for last 6mths. dd22mths.

littleducks · 17/02/2008 21:21

wtf? as it was summer! i am pregnant and obv absent minded! sorry.

cmotdibbler · 17/02/2008 21:22

Mine wears poppered vests, and some sleepsuits/some pjs.

coastalmum · 17/02/2008 21:22

Mine all stopped wearing poppered vests around 18months as it was summer time and didn't need them, and by time winter came back round they were toilet trainned or training.

As for sleepsuits mine have all had huge feet that never fitted in sleepsuits past 0-3month, so worn pjs.

Highly recommend Primark pjs, really good value and the flannelette ones wash brilliantly (even managed to pass them down).

Botbot · 17/02/2008 21:22

My dd went into pjs at 12 months, and we abandoned poppered vests at 18 months. She's 19 months now.

Habbibu · 17/02/2008 21:23

DD has been in pjs since about 1 yo - find it easier to do a quick nappy check if she wakes in the night. Still in poppered vests (16 mo) - will be sad when they stop being part of her attire!

TheHonEnid · 17/02/2008 21:24

mine does!

castille · 17/02/2008 21:24

I've just put away 3 sleepsuits DS has grown out of and have replaced them with 2-piece PJs (he's nearly 19mo).

PJs fit better and longer (you can pull the bottoms up to their armpits until they've grown!) whereas the feet of sleepsuits flap about like clown feet for months. He has some with feet, and some without. He's still in poppered vests though and probably will be until he's 2 or so.

ChasingSquirrels · 17/02/2008 21:24

ds2 (24m) wears poppered vests, and either pj's or sleepsuits.
ds1 didn't wear either at 2.

twospecialgirls · 17/02/2008 21:24

my 4 year old still wears sleepsuits !!! and wore poppered vests till about 2 then i couldnt get them in her size x

lulalullabye · 17/02/2008 21:24

I second the primark pj's too. They do shrink a little if you tumble dry, but after that they wash and wash and wash....

ja9 · 17/02/2008 21:26

i kept ds in poppered vests until potty training at 2.5 yr i like everything to be neat and tucked in!!!

i stopped sleepsuits as soon as he statred walking. that was 16 mo.

oliviaelanasmum · 17/02/2008 21:26

DD2 (2.9) stopped wearing sleepsuits as soon as she crawled as she always crawled into the body of them iykwim but has only recently stopped wearing poppered vest as she has recently toilet trained.

melpomene · 17/02/2008 21:26

Mine were out of sleepsuits and poppered vests well before 18 months - mainly because they wouldn't stay still for long and preferred to have their nappies changed while standing up.

ChasingSquirrels · 17/02/2008 21:28

also - ds2 will choose pj's over sleepsuit if the pj's are in his drawer. BUT has a fleecy red zip up sleepsuit that he will ALWAYS choose over the pj's. He is soooo scrummy in it aswell

Toothyboy · 17/02/2008 21:31

Ds2 - 2 on Wed. Still wears poppered vests as it's so cold. Stopped wearing sleepsuits at about 6 months as he wouldn't stay still for long enough to do up all those poppers!

Phoenix · 17/02/2008 21:34

My 24mo has had pj's since he was about 12mo and has just gone into 'big boy vests' because i couldn't find poppered ones bigger than 2-3yrs. He was constantly walking round showing everyone his belly but he's got used to the vests now and leaves them tucked in (mostly)

dingdong05 · 17/02/2008 21:38

Yes, both on cold nights, one or the other on warm ones.

Use what you like best, imo. Sleep suits and poppered vests are cheaper than pjs, and I think pjs only really become preferable when dc are potty trained in the day and you want to let them get to the loo independently if they feel the need once they are ready for bed (and you don't want to discourage that!)... and essential when they are nappyless at night lol

fizzbuzz · 17/02/2008 21:40

I got sick of doing all poppers up on sleepsuits so dd went into pj#s at 12 mo

Alas cannot endorse Primark pj's. The tops ride up until they are wide and short, and unwearable in the end. Also am not impressed that they don't tumble dry when practically every other pj's are

shelleylou · 17/02/2008 21:58

Ds as been in pjs since bout 10/11 months as it was easier to find them to fit or as said before can be pulled right up if too long. Still in vests as its winter. Tj hughes do pjs for bout £3 but are £2 at the moment ive always found that they wash and tumble dry really well and got some nice designs/phrases on them.

annoyingdevil · 17/02/2008 23:02

My dd's almost three and still in them, as is her 18 mth old brother. (she's a titch and a long way from being potty trained at night). She does wear PJ's when it's not minus something at nights!

spaghettiarms · 17/02/2008 23:07

DS2 is 16 months and still in them.. we have 18-24 month ones from DS1 that DS2 will be wearing as well. Although they have regular PJ's as well.

We stopped the popper vests when DS1 potty trained just after his 2nd birthday.

SaveScrabulous · 18/02/2008 09:12

Really surprised that people use the poppered ones so late - not sure why I'm surprised or why you'd use them so late. Why not I suppose!

I stopped using poppered vests once ds could walk and sleepsuits at around 1 too - he just wore a normal tshirt and pj bottoms to bed. Was glad to see the back of those fiddly poppers but they do look yummy in sleepsuits! It's something about their feet in them - so cute.

margoandjerry · 18/02/2008 09:26

I used poppered vests (DD only 16 mo but very big. She will continue to wear them as long as I can stretch them big enough to fit her).

I don't like vests that ride up - I like her kidneys to be covered up iykwim (that's something my mum is very hot on for some reason and I've no idea if it is just an OWT but I make sure she's properly covered up in that area).

The only problem is she does scream when I lie her down to be dressed so she would probably prefer normal vests as less time to put on but I figure I have to lie her down for proper nappy changing anyway so she will just have to suffer.
