definitely possible - you might not see the teeth for months tho'. Is she very unhappy?

pinkspottywellies · 08/02/2008 21:52

DD started 'teething' at about 4 months. Lots of dribbling and gnawing on fingers but no teeth until 6 months. I think they go through a phase where the teeth are moving around and heading up and out.

StressTeddy · 08/02/2008 21:54

Babies can be born with teeth apparently so don't think it's too earlY
Sometimes their gums are just on the move and you won't see any teeth for a while
Lots of chewy teethers in your house now then?

GoodGollyMissMolly · 08/02/2008 21:56

She has been drooling something awful and has been chomping on her hands and fingers loads for the last couple of weeks. She is really unhappy today and has been getting up really early, even though she started sleeping through at 6 weeks. She hasn't had any naps at all today, I'm knackered.

Mine started at about 8-9 weeks and had two teeth by 14 weeks. I thought it was too early aswell but all the signs were there. It has been a constant round of teething ever since!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 08/02/2008 21:57

My ds is exactly the same.Dribbling like mad and chewing hands even after a full feed.

Hes only 9 weeks.

GoodGollyMissMolly · 08/02/2008 21:58

Ha stressTeddy, on the way back from MIL's tonight we went to Tesco and got some Bonjella and teething rings....

My dd2 was born with a tooth and ds1 had couple before 5mths and i didn't even realise they were there until he bit me whilst i was feeding him 1 day OUCH!!!

GoodGollyMissMolly · 08/02/2008 21:59

BITCAT, wow, I had heard of babies being born with teeth, but thought it was exageration. I didn't know babies could actually be bron with teeth.

GoodGollyMissMolly · 08/02/2008 22:01

MissMolly it doesn't make any difference really - bf when thier teeth come through. They adjust thier latch as the teeth come and unless they bite you (which does hurt but dd only did it a couple of times when she was really tires) you don't really notice any difference!

bozza · 08/02/2008 22:05

She could be, or she could be just doing the chewing/dribbling thing that 11 week olds start with. Both mine had teeth at 4 months, so were obviously teething prior to that, but my nephews were much later (well beyond 6 months) and still did the chewing and dribbling.

SisterBee · 08/02/2008 22:08

DD suddenly produced 2 bottom teeth at 12 weeks. I think the fact they came through so early meant she never bit me too nastily - we were both used to them being there i suppose.

BITCAT · 08/02/2008 22:18

GoodGollyMissMolly i didn't mean to worry you about bf, with the teeth don't get me wrong it did hurt but it only happened once and i think it was probably just a case of getting used to them, so please don't let me and my big mouth put you off!!

GoodGollyMissMolly · 09/02/2008 19:45

Not at all BITCAT, it's nice to have a heads up

My DD is 10 weeks and I think she may be teething, the amount she dribbles is crazy, fists always in her mounth and she slides her gums along bottle when feeding.

My question is, how do I look in her mouth without her poking her tongue out so I can't see anything?!

GoodGollyMissMolly · 23/05/2008 18:39

MissingMyHeels, DD did this and still does, but no sign of any teeth yet, she is now 6 mo. I just poke my little finger in her mouth and rub it around her gums. Maybe if you try just popping your finger in your DD's mouth you will be able to feel any teeth popping up.

My DD was like this and constantly chewing her hands and dribbling. WHen i asked the HV about it she said no way (she was 6 weeks) and that most babies chew their hands etc and that is not a sign of teething. She then had two teeth come through at the bottom at 8 weeks! was so glad to take her to the HV and say well yes actually she was teething and here's the proof!. THe teething powders are good and was put off with the teething gels as was told by Dr that if you put too much on your baby can swallow it and in some cases it can numb there throat and effect breathing. Good look as at 5 months she has started again and so we think more teeth are due soon!. x

Romy7 · 25/05/2008 12:24

dd1 got first two teeth at 6 weeks and had a full set by her first birthday - the checkout bloke at safeway visibly recoiled when she grinned at him - it did look a bit weird! bf was fine btw - no issues until she developed the need to feed whilst looking over her shoulder - that was trickier...

Fillyjonk · 25/05/2008 12:25

oh yes dd2 is doing this, she is 3 months

its a pita tbh

think dd1 and ds were like this iirc but no teeth til 6 months
