Have sent 7 yr old twins to bed with no dinner-feeling really bad now...

Only my third ever post. I advertised an item to sell in our local paper & someone was coming round to see it this evening (really need the money). I asked DD1 & DS1 to look after the dog and well keep out of the way really & guess what! Person came round & had not read the advert properly(did not buy-araargh) but kids came down with dog in the middle of it all after being told many times before hand not to. I went erm well a bit mad & sent them to bed without dinner. They have eaten since school, left over lunch (on way home in car), pancakes and other cakes-thanks PTA, so they were not starving but I have never been so cross. Took DS's & DD's Nintendo DS's away & two other toys. DD is distraught but DS could not care less. DH came home & thought I had been a bit harsh!
Have I been?

As I said this is only my third post and it will be my last as I do not have the time to investigate your name/meanings especially after the horrible comments you have left-just thought it would be somewhere to share thoughts (hopefully positive, constructive & helpful-not 'you are a rubbish mum how dare you be on here! So thanks a lot-I will never approach a forum/helpsite like this again. PS Colditz-might be time to think of a change of name????????

No, I don't think so, why would I want to change my name?

Last messasge not meant to everyone. V tired & very stressed. I won't sleep well tonight because of what I have done but yes, they will have a good breakfast in the morning-that is for sure (loads of porridge & wettabix!). Today was more than about trying to sell something (had a meeting with DS SENCO today-not great) I'm not a hard hearted old bag-had just reached the end of my v long tether today-as I guess we all do from time to time/ Sleep well all.

Colditz, I have always assumed you escaped from either a high security prison or a bad marriage.
Weren't you Coldtits for a while? Or is that someone else?

Trixie, if you are still around, I agree with most posters that your reaction wasn't the most appropriate but as you say we all get it wrong occasionally, particularly when stressed.

Trixie I'm so glad you did post again, I felt really bad for you cos i knew there would be more to your day than purely the kids coming down with the dog. Thing is you knew already that you hadn't handled the situation as you would have prefered otherwise you wouldn't have posted. I hope everything was better today and you feel there was some empathy rather than cold hearted judgement. I suppose people were just short and sweet in answering the question had you been too harsh. Glad I'm not the only non perfect mum out there! Least we can be aware enough to reflect on it eh? Bet you got a big hug from your twins today!
