Is it only my son?

My son is 4, going on for 5 and we have just been to a birthday pary with, oh dreaded thing, a disco.

I was totaly overwhelmed by it for the first 45 minutes of the party (relaxed a bit towards the end). He sat on my lap, covering his ears with his eyes shut. I know that this is a ASD trait, but I a reasonably sure he is NT (if close to the edge IYSWIM). Does anyone else find this in their children and is it more of a boy thing?

Took my dd 5 to her first disco at school recently and she was overwhelmed which I was suprised at because she loves music and dancing and is always the first uip to dance at a wedding etc. However I did think the music was very loud at this one.

my ds1 gged 5.5 hates discos - won't go to the party if it's a disco, despite all his friends going.
I took him to one last yr and he wouldn't play the party games and was only really happy when some of his friends were out of the game and they could do 'boy stuff'
He is generally very sociable but just doesn't like discos.

He also doesn't like some loud noises - such as the vacuum cleaner - good excuse there - but will happily play loud playstation games which involve racing cars.
