My ds2 is 4 months old. having had an extremely colicky child with my dd I was semi prepared for the 1st 3 months to be tough. I think I got a bit of PND initially, but we struggled through with a few meltdowns at the Dr and HV.

the problem is he got to 12 weeks and things seemed to deteriorate. He sleeps very poorly despite me always ensuring that he settles himself to sleep. But what I am finding even tougher is the days. He is often extremely unsettled and not only wants to be held, but wants me to hold him standing up. Some days I can't seem to put him down anywhere without him immediatley crying. I have 2 other dcs under5 and I worry how this is affecting them.

I love my ds, but bonding is difficult with a child who cries at you constantly.

I am sure he is uncomfortable/in pain. The Dr has put him on Gaviscon for silent reflux and I have taken him to a few sessions with a CO. He had one yesterday so I am clinging to the hope that this is what has unsettled him as it happened after the last session.

I just need some reassurance that things will get better. My other dcs were really tough, but I'm sure by this age sleep and the days had started to become manageable.

Just tried to put in link again, according to instrctions, it's still not working and I've no time now! will come back later.

I would be sat here crying if I wasn't so emotionally drained . Took ds2 to the gp today and was told it was probably colic and given infacol!

I feel like I am missing out with all my dcs. The older 2 have a permanently stressed and exhausted mummy and ds2 can be happy for v short periods, but inevitably ends up screaming. I feel guilty that I'm letting my dcs down and I feel cheated because I thought if I could survive the first 14 weeks things would get better.

I have friends and family who help a lot, but tbh I just want it to stop now.

Sorry about the low tone of this post, but I really feel like I've hit rock bottom.

charliemama, I used a babybyorn carrier with both my DD's until they were over 12months, and found it to be really comfy. I will gladly give it to you if you pay the p&p. It is "well loved" but in perfect working condition. Let me know what you think.

hi charliemama - you poor thing.
my ds2 had reflux (supposedly) for first 2 months and after gaviscon and zantac which did not work we took him to a homeopath who gave him a remedy and 2 days later he was better. he got worse before getting better but it def worked (unless it was a major coincidence!!). I think the remedy was lycopodium but you would have to go to a homeopath and have a consultation.
ds2 used to literally scream all day, could not be put down, threw up EVERY feed all over me so by the end of the day i felt like killing myself. poor ds1 who was 19months at the time was very patient, god knows how.
good luck and i hope things get better.
thinking of you.
x

I'm going to bed now, but wanted to say thankyou for the support.

Yours is a lovely offer justaboutbacktonormal. TBh (Not wanting to sound ungrateful emoticon) I am very lucky and have my mum round the corner and some good friends. Yours is a very generous offer.

I think it all hit me today because dh has been away since mon. and got back last night. What i really need is a few good days/nights to give me some hope and time to enjoy my dcs. Fingers crossed thsi happens soon!
