Erm, a bit. Only the odd time 'Go on ds1/ds2' or 'well done'. That's it.

Far happier tucking into my flask and picnic!

pneumalifenewname · 09/10/2007 20:00

No WAY! Cringe cringe CRINGE! My ex fiance has a father who used to shout at him during rugby "come on Anthony for Fooks Fookin sake Geddim!"
Cumbrian accent.

Tutter · 09/10/2007 20:00

oh i can't wait to be a shotuy sporty mum

just hate that they are hjalf welsh and therefore likely to break many bones in rugby matches

Gobbledispook · 09/10/2007 20:00

Tutter · 09/10/2007 20:01

people don't shout at tennis though do they - except Wimbledon where my mum is on her element sighing and squealing

Gobbledispook · 09/10/2007 20:13

God no, I don't know people keep their eyes open at tennis matches, never mind shout. Sooooo dull.

Tutter · 09/10/2007 20:15

you may well rofl cod

but i did it in 47:55

dig deep, i did

pneumalifenewname · 09/10/2007 20:16

Stop saying it! it makes me laugh each time. well done though!

At cricket you are only a loud to clap - kind of slowly I think.

JackieNo · 09/10/2007 20:17

Afraid I do shout a bit, when DD's playing football. Encouraging things. Though I really shouldn't as I know bugger all about football, so I'm not qualified to comment.

milliways · 09/10/2007 20:18

DS swims, & we all cheer our swimmers on. SOme Mums get hoarse!

Funny as with hats on & heads in the water they can't hear us anyway!

saffy202 · 09/10/2007 20:36

I take my foldy chair to football. Most clubs around here now get the parents to sign contracts - ie no shouting at the kids, no parents to coach from the touchline.

Still doesn't stop them!

ThisIsSabrinaPleaseDoNotScare · 09/10/2007 20:42

We also encourage and support our sons football team but it is very good natured and we always applaud the opposing team too (they are only six years old FFS )

We also had a contract to sign which sets out the rules of 'fairplay' and it has been adhered to as far as I know.

Would be very bad form to boo the other team but encouraging words and coaching tips are fine I think.

ThisIsSabrinaPleaseDoNotScare · 09/10/2007 20:46

Oh yes and foldy chairs at football matches What a wussy lot of parents we have in our neck of the woods (one mother brought a blanket last weekend) Stand up and stamp your feet to keep warm like the rest of us!

mustsleep · 10/10/2007 12:29

i have a foldy chair and love it it's pink for crying out load and noone talks to me so i sit all by myself in me chair alone but comfy at least

i don't mind when they are having a match and it's supprtive stuff but i think during training etc it just cinfuses the kids and they stop listening to the teacher/trainer/coach

PoshCod · 10/10/2007 12:33

some sit int he car fgs

chloesmumtoo · 10/10/2007 12:37

ds and dd still at primary and when I watch them sometimes I want to shout for support but if others are not, I cant. To embarassed!

chloesmumtoo · 10/10/2007 12:38

Thats for sports day by the way

Tiggiwinkle · 10/10/2007 12:41

Ds5(8) plays in a football team at the weekend. Some of the parents on the opposing teams are just awful-all constantly shouting directions above the coach-the poor kids end up not knowing which way to go! And they are so competitive-critisising teir kids if they do something "wrong". I get so wound up. (The parents in DSs team are lovely thank goodness!)

Porpoise · 10/10/2007 12:42

You need a FLASK, cod. And a flat cap.

And Pneuma, they DO shout at tennis matches. Scarily so.
