A question for people with boy babies - probably been asked before, but....

.... if a 6 month old baby is constantly fiddling with his willy when you take his nappy off, does this mean that it is irritated or itchy in some way (it looks fine) or is it just because it's there?

TIA.

No, its just because its there...DS does it as well

All normal so no worries there

nell12 · 24/06/2007 22:02

If it looks ok (ie not red, swollen etc etc) then he is just doing what boys do best!!!

lemonaid · 24/06/2007 22:03

It means he's a boy... It's the start of a deeply committed lifetime relationship .

(granted, some of them take a bit longer to discover it, but DS was certainly grabbing his by that age)

Kathyis6incheshigh · 24/06/2007 22:03

Thanks Nikki! I thought it was probably ok but wanted to check and though I know lots of people with boys in RL the right moment has never come up to ask IYKWIM!

its because its there and in reaching distance

StarryStarryNight · 24/06/2007 22:03

I think it is just because it is there. It is hiding in the nappy, then it is freed, so why not fiddle. I have two, both fiddlers.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 24/06/2007 22:04

x-posted - thanks everyone else.

He really does love it.
Just nice to see him having so much fun....

They do start young don't they?

NikkiBFG · 24/06/2007 22:04

Yes its hardly dinner party conversation is it??!!

DS actually giggles while he's grabbing his...makes me larf!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 24/06/2007 22:05

Paula - yes, though funnily enough it doesn't seem to be one of those milestones people get competitive about.

Both mine have been fiddlers, DS1 used to manage to strrrreeeetttchh it up to his navel nearly sometimes!
he did notice in the bathroom today that I don't have a willy which was quite funny btw.

Yurtgirl · 24/06/2007 22:06

A wise MNetter pointed out the following to me:

Once a boy discovers his he'll always remember what fun he had the last time

paulaplumpbottom · 24/06/2007 22:07

You never know they might be in the male polpulation

lemonaid · 24/06/2007 22:09

Oh, the stretching... I would be surely that can't be comfortable? But apparently it is.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 24/06/2007 22:11

LOL Paula - true!
DH claimed not to have noticed but there is always an atmosphere of panic when he changes ds's nappy because he is so scared of getting wee'd on.

mine doesn;t so much fiddle as strangulate. I have ben very concerned at times , will make a good story for his first girlfriend

Menarefrommars · 24/06/2007 22:13

My DS has just started this and is 6 months old.

Did it the other day when he'd had a poo, got poo on his hand then....straight in his mouth.

Nice!

paulaplumpbottom · 24/06/2007 22:15

yuck

terramum · 25/06/2007 00:29

Nope its normal...& beneficial as well as pulling it about & having erections helps detach the foreskin.

Wallace · 25/06/2007 07:21

Oh no, my ds2 must be behind as he is 11 months and hasn't discovered his yet

Could it be his huge belly getting in the way?

Egg · 25/06/2007 07:51

My DS has a huge belly and has been pulling, stretching and generally fiddling with his willy from a very young age. He likes to squeeze his "nutbag"...

purplemonkeydishwasher · 25/06/2007 07:54

ds is 21 months and the love affair continues. which is awkward since he's just starting to use a potty. try explaining to a toddler that he has to let the willy go before he can pee in the potty!

flibbertyjibbet · 25/06/2007 10:24

Telling him to make sure the willy is pointing down into the potty is good as that way his hand still gets to be in contact with it

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 10:25

Beneficial, eh, Terramum? No wonder he looks so outraged when I take it away and put his nappy on.

Hiya mamma's

I need to ask a question but I feel really stupid asking this, asthough I should know it already. ...but....should I pull my son's foreskin back when I'm cleaning him? I haven't done so far cos I didnt think I was supposed to, and also my sister-in-law said that you shouldn't also. But DH had to see a doctor in his mid teens cos he was having problemsa pulling his back, and I dont want the same thing to happen to DS.

Any suggestions????
