peach.

dont ask why.

we only have males in our house , apart from me of course.

snowwonder · 12/06/2007 21:29

frou-frou

RosaLuxembourg · 12/06/2007 21:29

I think you'll find that vulva is the generally accepted MN term. All agreed on that in the last discussion.

my thread

This is a thread I started a few weeks ago, kinda opened a can of worms, and some people took the piss. It seems to be a hot topic around here.
The general consensus, is that mn ers are from 2 camps those who call it a Vulva the anatomically correct name, and those that have "pet" names i,e fairy etc

Good luck

Bouquetsofdynomite · 12/06/2007 21:44

Front bottom. It's perfectly clear and not embarrassing to anyone.

RIELOVESBACARDI · 12/06/2007 21:45

we call ours our mini

Elibean · 12/06/2007 22:28

So far, this is dh's problem: I speak French with dd and we call it a zezette as per her cousins and all little French speaking kids we know of

He, the official English speaker, doesn't call it anything yet, the big chicken. Although dd is probably the only 3 year old we know who says 'penis' instead of 'willy'

I think we'll be going down the vulva/vagina route, in due course - no pet names. And where I grew up, 'front bottom' would have been greeted with howls of laughter, so definitely definitely not that

HuwEdwards · 12/06/2007 22:30

like BoD, frontbottom - unambiguous.

hercules1 · 12/06/2007 22:30

Vulva.

SmileyMylee · 12/06/2007 22:34

My girls call it their lilly.

sep1712 · 12/06/2007 22:43

its always been a fairy in our family!

Jenkeywoo · 12/06/2007 22:46

previously known as 'tickle-tickle' - because she liked to. And bum known as 'peach' - now called 'gina. I think that's nicer than vulva, I'm not sure why I find that word weird but I do.

minky moo in our house (don't know why DP's idea doesn't bother me though )

for the boys it dinkle or willy (again DP!)

SpawnChorus · 12/06/2007 22:55

Front bottom in this house too!

sparklesandwine · 12/06/2007 23:02

mind you i've just read Lilymolly's thread and i'm begining to think i shouldn't have posted here now - i will probably get slaughtered for using a 'fluffy' name and for not using the correct terms!!

pagwatch · 13/06/2007 08:39

erm...bits

Riss70 · 13/06/2007 08:48

Little bottom and noodle however they know they are their "private parts" and the right name is a vagina and penis, that no one is to touch them except themselves, mum and dad to make sure they are clean (which is far less frquently now they are getting bigger we can just watch that they do the job well) and the doctor to make sure they are healthy (they almost repeat this like a mantra now they are leaning things parrot fashion at pre school)

my friend who only has a daughter calls it her muffin and her sister's daughter calls her vagina a twinkie

I am not keen if they don't have an unabbiguous term as it can make things a little difficult eg "Jack touched my muffin" which to a day carer or pre chool teacher may mean nothing more than he stole her morning tea

SSSandy2 · 13/06/2007 08:52

I really really hate "bits"
Just use the proper terms really, I'd feel weird saying soemthing else but I don't think it matters TOO much, just use the term your mum used unless it embarrassed you. It'll be fine.

Diplidophus · 13/06/2007 08:57

Whils tI have against teaching the proper words I just couldn't bring myself to use the anatomical name on a day-to-day basis. As mentioned elsewhere you don't call it an anus.

Can't say I like the fluffy names either and personally don't like front bottom.

quite like 'twinkie' and goes nicely with 'winky'. I think #i may go for that if I have a girl.

ELR · 13/06/2007 08:57

monkey

pagwatch · 13/06/2007 09:22

Please don't worry so - bits suits us fine. Bits was mostly used as DS has a big brother ( 10 when she was born)and that was what he started using for her and now she uses it too. We are in the middle of lots of very candid conversations about EXACTLY where the baby comes out and why boys and girls are different so it isn't leading to any ambiguity around the subject. As you say - it doesen't matter too much - but using the anatomical names all the times would mean that my 13 year old son would leave home - certainly would never have any more friends over.We just use what suits US- all five of us
For her daughters my sister used "millie" and then her youngest ended up in reception class with a girl called millie.

Lolly68 · 13/06/2007 09:42

foo foo

Bouquetsofdynomite · 13/06/2007 14:06

Thing is vulva is only one bit of it, you can't expect a small child to be interested in all the different parts, let alone label them. That's why a prefer a generic word for the whole area - rather she be vague than talking about the wrong bit and people assuming she know what she's talking about because she uses words like vulva.
