What size clothes is your 9-15m old wearing?

I need to get DD3 weighed to check on her weight as she hasn't been weighed since approx 11m, at which point she was holidng steady on one of the lower percentiles.

I am a little concerned about her size. She is 13m, but I am still buying 6-9m clothes. She is not near growing out of them. I am still buying them - and some are still on the big size (i.e. trousers falling down/being tripped over). In Ladybird clothes, which I find come up big she still fits in 3-6m - which I find rediculus.

She eats well, drinks her pint of milk a day, development seems normal - but she is small. DTDs were this small - but I put that down to them being prem and tiny at birth.

So can I just ask what size your LOs clothes are? ARe the sizes just bad, or do I just have an incredibly small DD?

Sorry to say, my DD is seven months and in 9-12 months. But she's a round little milk monster on the 98th percentile. Don't complain, think of all the money you are saving buying bigger sizes.

hoxtonchick · 01/06/2007 21:23

i am following you tonight sms . my dd is 2 at the end of the month. she is mostly wearing 18-24 stuff but fits into quite a lot of 12-18 clothes. i find gap things fit her perfectly.

PinkTulips · 01/06/2007 21:24

ds is 10 months and in 12-18 tops and 18-24 bottoms.

sorry, not helpful but i actually find alot of the clothes ridiculously small for him

that said dd is 2 and only grew out of a 6-9 month top at 22 months and would still fit 18-24 if she wasn't so tall.... but then she has food intolerances and had weight prob

lulumama · 01/06/2007 21:26

SMS..... my DD has been just the same, she is 22 months, and my mum just bought her a couple of little skirts and tops, in size 18 - 23 months....the skirt feel straight down! she is petite, always has been, was in her 9 - 12 monht skirt until very recently.......she is just above 25th centile, but is just made really small ! at playgroup, another mum asked me how old she is, when i said , 'almost 2,' she looked really shocked and said, 'she is so small!'

she is healthy, happy, meeting her milestones and has a big personality !

HV laughed last time i brought her for weighing and told me not to bother!

SlightlyMadSlug · 01/06/2007 21:29

I know its one of those silly things. With DTDs I knew it didn't matter, I knew they should be small, They were olny 2lb & 2lb1oz so I knew they were never going to follow any sort of convention, so Ignored sizes and took them to the next size when they grew out of the one they were in. With DD3 it just doesn't feel right that she is in clothes that a 6m old 'should' be wearing IYSWIM.

DS 2.6 is in 18-24 months but can still fit in his 12-18 months trousers.

SlightlyMadSlug · 01/06/2007 21:44

My DS is nearly 10 months and people always comment on how 'chunky/bonny/fat' he is (depending on how polite they're being!) but he still fits in his 3-6 month T-shirts. I wouldn't worry too much about clothes sizes - they all vary so much, as long as your DD is developing normally, thats all that matters. It means you don't have to keep buying clothes so often!

WriggleJiggle · 01/06/2007 21:48

Tesco sizes are made for baby giraffes.

14 month old dd still needs trousers rolling up on 9-12m clothing, no matter what make they are. Her cloth nappies hold them up though

DD is 10 1/2 months, still wearing 3-6 month tops but in 6-9 month trousers and PJ's. Shoes/sandals etc are really random !! Got pair of pink 0-3 month sandals from Mothercare for her . She's just on the bottom centile (was below bottom at beginning).

SlightlyMadSlug · 01/06/2007 22:09

Glad I am not alone...

my nephew was wearing size 18mths to 2 years at 3 years of age, and he had a bigger appetite than my 8 yr old dd1. although now at nearly 4 he is wearing 3yr old clothes although 2-3yr will still fit

MuffinMclay · 01/06/2007 22:15

DS is 13 months and wearing 12-18 month stuff from a variety of places (mainly M&S and White Company). Clothes from John Lewis are a bit on the small side, and he won't be wearing them much longer. He has some things from Boden that are far to big and as yet are unworn.

He is in the 18-36 month grobags.

I've no idea where he is on the centiles or what he weighs. I last had him weighed at the start of December.

As long as she is eating and drinking well I wouldn't worry. They come in all shapes and sizes. Although I'm rather short, dh comes from a family of giants, so I expect ds to be slightly bigger than average.

StinkyPete · 01/06/2007 22:17

have only read op,
i have totally given up looking at size labels in any shops. i now measure the inside leg, arm or waist of what fits well and take a tape measure shopping with me!! seriously!!
my dd is 16m, she is wearing a 3-6m t-shirt from M&S and a 18m pair of trousers from mothercare.
my ds is 4.5y and is wearing 18m trousers from M&S, 2-3 t-shirts from asda...

sms, please don't worry about the size of your dd

SlightlyMadSlug · 01/06/2007 22:20

I do feel restructed to 1 or 2 brands so I don't have to take into account that this brand comes up small, this brand comes up big etc.

My dd2 is 16 months and is tall, never have her weighed, and is wearing 12-18 months mainly but some of her 9-12month H&M stuff still fits. She has a couple of 12-18 month outfits which are still too big to put her in.
She is the Next 12-18 months sleeping bags .

Wallace · 01/06/2007 22:23

LOL my ds2 (10 months) has long grown out of babygrows that my dd was wearing when she was 12 months plus.

SlightlyMadSlug · 01/06/2007 22:24

PFNM - It was your thread that got me thinking about this, the fact that I typed ' when she grows out of 6-9m I will buy her 9-12m). It just felt wrong...

Wallace · 01/06/2007 22:28

Sure she is fine

My ginormous (eg almost 2 stone) 10 month ds2 is still wearing a 3-6 month fleece (think tis a ladybird one too)

QueenofBleach · 01/06/2007 22:32

DD at 16 months is in 18 -24 months only because it is summer and couldn't be bothered to get summer in 12 -18 months, friends daughter is very petite and was still in some 12 -18 months at nearly 3

Beauregard · 01/06/2007 22:34

She is fine SMS.
You mentioned that your twins were small,so she sounds like she will follow their growth pattern.
My dd's are tall and i worry about that.
The trouble is all children are different but unfortunately other people can make us feel that it is a bad thing.

munz · 01/06/2007 22:35

DS is 15 months and currently wears:

trousers/shorts 9-12 months or 12-18 months dep on the shop.
tops - short/long sleeved, 12-18 or 18-24 in some cases (primark esp) he's got a bit of a tum on him! lol.
shirts however at 12-18.

has finally caught up with himself - until last month he was still in 9-12 months for everything. if you ask me it depends on the shops as well - and now i'm looking at the size but more if it looks like it will fit if that makes sence? (I also get the next size up in primark so he has a bit longer wear out of the clothes)
