What size clothes is your 9-15m old wearing?

I need to get DD3 weighed to check on her weight as she hasn't been weighed since approx 11m, at which point she was holidng steady on one of the lower percentiles.

I am a little concerned about her size. She is 13m, but I am still buying 6-9m clothes. She is not near growing out of them. I am still buying them - and some are still on the big size (i.e. trousers falling down/being tripped over). In Ladybird clothes, which I find come up big she still fits in 3-6m - which I find rediculus.

She eats well, drinks her pint of milk a day, development seems normal - but she is small. DTDs were this small - but I put that down to them being prem and tiny at birth.

So can I just ask what size your LOs clothes are? ARe the sizes just bad, or do I just have an incredibly small DD?

Clothes sizing is really weird, my 15 month old needs some 2-3 year clothes 'cos she is fat, so stuff from next wouldn't fit her at all,. It seems to be made for long skinny kids!!
Anyway, children are all different shapes and sizes and thank heavens for that. how boring would it be if they were all giants. I also have some petite ones

My ds is 3.5 and wears 18-24 month trousers which can look big on him. He has to wear a belt or all his trousers fall down. He usually wears 2-3 year old tops. Do you think they do school trousers in size 2-3years as I can't see him being in anything bigger when he starts school?

DD is 2.1 and up until quite recently was wearing 9-12 mth clothes. She now fits quite nicely into 12 - 18 mths

colditz · 03/06/2007 09:35

My ds is 13 months and in 12 to 18 months - but if she is eating and energetic I really wouldn't worry

colditz · 03/06/2007 09:37

still in 9 - 12 ladybird though, and he is big.

It really depends on the child. My ds2 who is 13 months is wearing the right age clothes (12-18month) but mostly so they fit over his nappies (using real ones). He is very dinky too.

If it makes you feel any better, ds2 is still wearing age 2-3 shorts. He will be 6 in 2 weeks.

lunavix · 03/06/2007 09:57

my 9m wears 3-6m

polecat · 03/06/2007 10:16

Don't worry - I use to but have given up. My 16mth old DS wears shorts from a certain Aussie label that are a size 3-6mths! But when we put him in anything from Belgium or France he usually goes up a size....

dd 12 months. the size she wears really depends on the shop. zara is extremely small. she's in 2 year old stuff there, sometimes even 3 year old stuff. however, she also wears a next fleece in size 6-9 months which is roomy. lots of her trousers are still 9-12 months, from places like next, but her tops are all 12-18.

my niece was in 3-6 month clothes at 15 months. they're all different, don't worry about it !

fillyjonk · 03/06/2007 10:24

oh god mine were both in 6-9 mo clothes at that age

ds, who is 3.5, still comfortably fits 12 mo tops

Nemo2007 · 03/06/2007 10:31

Its weird as thew clothes and dc are all different! DD1 was always told she was small but she always fitted the right clothes for her age. DD2 is close to the 2nd centile at 5mths yet is in 3-6mths clothes purely based on her length but they fall down around her waist etc.Yet she could fit in newborn and 0-3mths if she wasnt so tall.

Roskva · 03/06/2007 10:40

DD is 9 months, on the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height, and wearing things from age 6 months to age 18 months. I find sizes vary wildly: bizarrely, the more expensive brands like Next and Monsoon seem to come up smaller than less expensive ranges like Adams or Cherokee. And French things are tiny, hence the 18 months.

boo64 · 03/06/2007 14:13

When I was shopping for something on the M&S website I noticed their sizes were really off compared to the ages. So the weight and height measurements are just ridiculous for the ages they are meant to cover.

I actually compared them to the height and weight chart in ds's red book and they are totally out in fact. I think their 12-18mths size would in theory only fit a child on the 50th percentile when they were 23 months....

FWIW ds is 23 months and has plenty of 12-18mths clothes still - trousers in biggers sizes drown him and he even has some 9-12 mth trousers that are still ok

Malaleche · 03/06/2007 14:29

anything from 3 m to 1.5 y, the sizing is all haywire these days...

Enid · 03/06/2007 14:30

dd3 is 13 months and wears mostly 12-18 months, she is quite diddy. She would fit 9-12 month trousers I would think

Enid · 03/06/2007 14:31

dd3 was on the 9th centile, is now on the 25th I think
