I think you need to do them up tighter.

Beauregard · 25/05/2007 21:34

They wont go any tighter, she just forces her arms out of them.

is she my daughter? I do them as tight as I can, but she does manage to wiggle out eventually - I have been stopping the car to tighten them up and talk sternly to her (she's only 2 but v determined little soul)

FunMumm · 25/05/2007 21:35

can they move up a notch... sometimes when they are low they slip down easier.. does this make sense?

Cappuccino · 25/05/2007 21:36

I have same problem and pulling straps tighter makes no difference

she is old enough to understand that if the arms are out the music goes off

we give her hard looks and eventually she gives in

she's 2

Beauregard · 25/05/2007 21:37

dd2 is 16months and very very strong.

Straight jacket - wrap around body after strapping her in???

Beauregard · 25/05/2007 21:40

Is there such a thing as a toy that can be fixed to the back of the seat( and not be thrown) to occupy her?

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSquare · 25/05/2007 21:42

Back of your seat? I think you can get a 'reaar seat driver' type of toy - where she can drive like you (or DH). Not sure where I have seen it though.

SlightlyMadSquare · 25/05/2007 21:45

Like this.

Be warned it says that people that brought this also brought 'there's a house inside mummy' (a book aimed reassuring siblings about the iminant arrival of a baby!!!!)

FunMumm · 25/05/2007 21:47

I think what I was trying to say is, are the straps adjustable?

AllBuggiedOut · 25/05/2007 21:47

Large bulky coats and do the straps good and tight. Only if the car has air-con though

Beauregard · 25/05/2007 21:49

Thanks SMS would that fix to the seat though?

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSquare · 25/05/2007 21:49

The problem for us was that our children were very slim - so even if it is tight on their shoulders and crotch because there body is concave there can be a big gap over there tummy (esp when they breathe in). I don't think chubbier children have quite the same problem as you can get good contact witht he straps from the shoulders, chest tummy and crothc IYSWIM

Beauregard · 25/05/2007 21:50

Adjustable as in the length,yes.

AllBuggiedOut · 25/05/2007 21:51

Exactly SMS, which is why it's less of a problem in winter with the bulky coats!

Monkeybar · 25/05/2007 21:53

My ds has started doing exactly this, and manages to gets his arms free on the 5 minute drive home from nursery. I'm going to try moving the straps up to the next level - coming to think of it, he's been in this seat nearly a year and has definitely grown, but the straps are in the same place.

SlightlyMadSquare · 25/05/2007 21:53

I think it stands on the floor and that arm thing to the left is a suction thing for the window to keep it stable. There are 2 different ones - one yellow & one blue (look at the combination deal for the other one). I assume they are aimed at different ages.

Beauregard · 25/05/2007 21:55

If i get one for dd2 i will have to get one for dd1 or all hell will break loose in the back.

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSquare · 25/05/2007 21:55

But I would not make them wear bulky coats in summer - sorry.

AllBuggiedOut · 25/05/2007 22:04

Well obviously not...

Anyone else got any ideas?

OP posts:
reece · 27/05/2007 21:58

I know this might sound a bit mean but when I had this problem with DS I ended up telling him that if he didn't get his arms back into the straps immediately the police would come and tell mummy off! It worked a treat as he didn't want mummy to be in trouble

bran · 27/05/2007 21:58

I bought a thingy for the straps as I thought ds was going to be wriggler, but he only ever did it a couple of times and a stern telling off stopped him. I'll see if I can find the website I bought it from.
