Can I have a proud mummy moment?

Ds, just under 13 mos, pulled himself up to standing for the very first time today! And once he'd started he didn't want to stop.
But sadly none of my ruddy family were around to hear about the progress of their first granchild/nephew so I thought I'd come on here and tell you lot . Was even reduced to phoning my MIL...

Awww, well we're all madly interested so gush away about it!! That's really sweet, bet he's really proud of himself and loves doing it now!!

Spod · 07/08/2004 21:32

ah bless! well done... bet he's so thrilled with himself!

edam · 07/08/2004 21:35

Aw, thanks guys, I knew you'd make me feel better about my parents having lives of their own instead of sitting by the phone, just waiting for news of their ONLY (my mum)/FIRST (my dad) grandchild . Even my sisters weren't around... harrumph.
Left ds in the sitting room for a moment earlier, when I went back in he was sat inside the bottom shelf of the bookcase for all the world looking like he was pretending to be an ornament.... he's just been so lovely today and I really really really wanted to tell my family.

Fantastic! Mine did it on me the other day and pulled my trousers down...you've got all that to look forward to!

Janh · 07/08/2004 21:36

edam, he sounds gorgeous!

wobblyknicks · 07/08/2004 21:37

Awww...he sounds like such a sweetie!! It's sods law - everyone has to be unavailable on the one night you need them. Oh well, you can get it all out to us and then when you finally get through to them you'll get to go through it all over again!!

Hulababy · 07/08/2004 21:43

Yeah; well done to yuor DS

edam · 07/08/2004 21:43

erm, were you in public, by any chance Tommy ?
Thanks everyone, and Janh, you are very astute . He's known as the class clown at nursery, always making the babies, the older children and the staff giggle.

I appreciate it was a proud moment Edam and i can understand telling us but the mil? What were you thinking? Hell would have to freeze etc..

Congrats to your ds!

Lisa78 · 07/08/2004 21:44

woohoo!!! Well done him!

MadameButterfly · 07/08/2004 21:47

WEll done to your DS.

I know what you mean about family nor being available. I phone my folks when DD did as poo in the potty for the 1st time but they were not in. I resorted to calling the inlaws too. FIL was the first to hear the news.

Tommy · 07/08/2004 22:59

Fortunately not edam (not a pretty sight)

motherinferior · 08/08/2004 18:36

Missed this! What a little star! How clever! Hurrah!

Bunglie · 08/08/2004 18:47

Brilliant - What an awesome angel
You will have to move everything up a level now so he can't reach.
A lovely moment for any mum, and I am glad you shared it with us because it has made me feel happy, thank you

Thanks again everyone was surprised to see this come up again today.
Went to Clark's today to buy him his very first pair of proper shoes ('cruising' shoes apparently) but none in his size .
On the good side, he has just spent 10 minutes mopping the kitchen floor (didn't do a bad job either). Sadly this was before he was sick... but I suppose you can't win them all.

Don't bother with shoes in this weather - dd2's been tottering around (remember, she's an Older Woman) like a mini-Sandie Shaw all day....

Janh · 09/08/2004 15:29

DS2 used Padders (? those corduroy things) outdoors for ages before he got his first actual shoes...my worry about letting him go barefoot outdoors was that he might tread on something sharp or nasty or stingy (eg wasp in grass). He started walking c 14 months in June/July but I don't think we got shoes until September.

edam · 09/08/2004 15:36

Thanks Janh, where did you get Padders from?

Edam, hurray for your DS!

Bobux soft shoes are what you need. I would send you an old pair of DD's but they are pink with flowers on them !

Daisy Roots £12 inc p&p from small smiles !

serenequeen · 09/08/2004 22:21

janh, you really are the queen of internet shopping!

i'm really sorry i just have to have a proud moment, dd was 2 wks old today and can:

  • smile
  • roll over
  • lift her head
  • put her fingers in her mouth for comfort

ok thanks for that, am about to start looking into m&b groups so will have to act modest all the time...

Janh · 09/08/2004 23:01

sqbk (when does bk return in her full glory btw?) your dd sounds utterly wonderful too. sigh. I wouldn't want to have a baby again but they are very good value!

Gingerbear · 09/08/2004 23:14

Janh do you mean the shoes or the babies???
