Crying in evenings

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this as it is really upsetting. My 3 month old in a matter of 3 weeks has gone from going down without too much fuss at all of a night, to having real crying fits that last for ages before she wears herself out and finally goes to sleep - usually for the night with 1 night waking for a feed.
She gets almost blue in the face and we end up jigging her to sleep in our arms as we are scared she will puke if we leave her even for a mo (and never have anyway) but is usually nicely fed and bathed in a calm and relaxed atmosphere - nothing has changed in our routine at all. The only thing I will say is that she is a cra* napper during the day and I am on the go almost constantly with her - maybe this is why? Could it be teething? All ideas would be greatly appreciated...
xx

Sooo good to see this! I was just looking around as my little guy is doing the same. He's 16 weeks (5 weeks premature) and has been great about going to bed for the last 6 weeks after an initial rough spot, and now back to lots of crying and hysterics. So frustrating.

We are going through exactly the same thing! DS is 15 weeks (6 weeks prem), on top of not settling at night he's also changed from 4 hours (sometimes 5 at night) between feeds, to 3 hours and 'snacking', and won't take the recently introdued formula feed at night.

I'm sure the frustration, and the fact that I can't think about this rationally is partly caused by exhaustion!

ELM- my son is 16 weeks, 5 weeks pre-term so sounds very similar. Husband up with him now as I teared up at yet another round of this. Feels like we've gone back to about 2 months ago...ugh. On top of a really rough day where he seems to have forgotten how to nap as well. He seems to have 'forgotten' how to get his thumb to suck on, which he figured out about 2 weeks ago, and not being able to find it is really upsetting him. Has anyone else found this? Argh.

This rings so many bells. Although DS1 isn't crying at night, she's become very hard to settle, and wakes up loads since we hit 14 weeks. She's also been a very alert baby, and I can't help but wonder whether there is some stage of mental development she is currently going through which results in this behaviour. It's almost as if she can no longer 'switch off' even when really exhausted. I'm trying really hard to minimise any sensory stimulation when she if going down at night, but am not sure what else to do!
