They cna't add up either the article says he started walking last month the article is dated March 2005 , he was born in July. Doesn't that make him more like seven months. That's still early but some do walk at 8 months so not that miraculous.

ledodgyDave · 05/03/2007 17:40

sorry it was 2007 not 05.

nappyaddict · 05/03/2007 17:40

no it says he started walking last month and that he was born in july. it would have made him 7 months sometime last month, so he probably started walking sometime between whenever he was 6 months in january and 7 months last month. god very unlike me to stick up for the sun!

my aunt swears blind her ds was cruising at 3 months

seriously though one of the babies at toddler group is 7 months and cruising so maybe possible? although that pic looks 'odd'

coppertop · 05/03/2007 17:43

It seems weird that someone would contact the Sun (or any other newspaper for that matter) just because their baby walked early.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/03/2007 17:44

MIL swears blind that DP's older brother was cruising at 4 months, and walking by 6 months.

Apparently he barely slept either. I could well believe it, tbh.

coppertop · 05/03/2007 17:44

The photo looks weird because it looks as though the baby was leaning on something that's no longer there (IMO anyway ).

thats what i was thinking too coppertop... i have loads of pics of dd's first steps and they look nothing like that

ledodgyDave · 05/03/2007 17:46

Mine was too busy memorising the Thesaurus at that age to bother with walking.

nh101 · 05/03/2007 17:51

If he was born at the end of July, he would have been six months at end of Jan, and could have started walking at the beginning of Feb ("last month") so he might not have been much over six months. Coppertop, this story was probably first featured in the family's local paper, and then picked up by the Sun through syndication.

Nemo2007 · 05/03/2007 17:57

I dont understand why they contacted any paper???
It is early but I would assume possible, Ds crawled at 5mths and was pulling up at 6mths cruising at 7mths and walking at 8mths..I only remember as I was mortified no one told me they could do it that early.

frances5 · 05/03/2007 18:17

Ahhh! He's cute. My son didnt walk that well until he was two and half years old. I don't feel a single tinge of jelousy, I'm pleased for him.

Still the mum is going to have a tough time. The idea of a child with six month old brain being able to get into everything is scary or what!

izzybiz · 05/03/2007 19:47

It also said he was born in July and started crawling in September!

My DD didnt even sit alone untill 8 months!
I think its amazing.

ComeOVeneer · 05/03/2007 19:51

I more intersted/concerened by the article on the side about the obese 3 year old

My dd was walking (capably)around furniture and walls at 6 months and walked pushing a small plastic chair in front of her as she turned 7 months. She walked on her own at 7 months and ran at 8 months. She could actually walk before she could sit. I knew this was early but didn't realise it was that big a deal though.
I'm not competing btw, just wanted to say that is is possible and not much fun for parents.

Frizbe · 05/03/2007 19:57

My mates son was up on his front at 3 weeks old, I have picks of it, he was crawling by 4 and walking by 6 too.
My 2nd dd was crawling at 6mths, crusing at 8 and walking holding onto things at 9. at 11mths free walking, she was 1 yesterday and is now trying to run

Frizbe · 05/03/2007 19:58

agree northstar, its not much fun, especially that paddy about being in the pushchair, when they could be happily running headfirst into traffic eh

morningpaper · 05/03/2007 19:58

he looks like they've air-brushed out the bar he's leaning on and the pint of lager in his hand

MrsSpoon · 05/03/2007 20:02

I expect to read next month that he is fully potty trained.

SparklyGothKat · 05/03/2007 20:05

there is a link on there to a video clip of him walking.

cece · 05/03/2007 20:07

Um DS was cruising at that age but not unaided. It was a nightmare...

morningpaper · 05/03/2007 20:11

Really cece? Both of mine turned from monstrous frustrated babies into calm well behaved children as soon as they could walk. I assume that once they are walking they are less frustrated
