Genius baby

I'm just wondering if there are ways that will ensure my baby's brain and development will be at peak levels.
I've read about foods mom's eat, music they listen to and routines they have that ensure baby's cognitive abilities and intellect when older are at peak levels.
Is any of it true? If so; whilst my baby is growing inside me, what do I do to allow for its brain to develop to its full capacity so that its problem solving abilities are advanced. ConfusedSmile

Y'mean eat well, don't take coke?
That kinda thing?

NapQueen · 15/01/2017 18:37

Cake for you.
Sleep for you.
Your favourite music.

Then let go of the pressure to educate a baby that hasn't even been born yet Grin

NICOLEMCLN · 15/01/2017 18:42

I may be alone in thinking this however I'm not sure what you necessarily do or don't do whilst pregnant means you give birth to a genius.

Apparently working out whilst pregnant will strengthen babies brain how would they test this? I didn't exactly work out, I have another daughter & at the time didn't drive so I walked everywhere and wasn't exactly sitting around yet was very stressed out due to personal issues, my daughter walked at 9 months old she's 18 months old and has an incredible vocabulary. She pulls pillows to door to climb upon to open, recites song words whilst singing and pretty much everybody at play group always comment on how well advanced she is.

This was capable from endless amount of time I spend with her (sahm) so I feel like I've helped her become more advanced.

Will she be a genius? I think that depends on how much we teach her but I also believe it depends entirely on that child.

DearMrDilkington · 15/01/2017 18:46

Don't watch too many episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians?

bittapitta · 15/01/2017 18:49

The fact that you are thinking about this shows you're probably doing the"right" things already ie not boozing or smoking weed. Keep active but rest too, eat a healthy varied diet.

MycatsaPirate · 15/01/2017 18:51

Just eat healthily, don't drink, smoke or take drugs and don't stress.

You should be hoping for a healthy baby and then worry about it's IQ later on.

Honestly, as soon as that baby is in your arms you won't be thinking about it's intelligence levels, you'll just be melting into his/her eyes.

DearMrDilkington · 15/01/2017 18:51

Can I ask why you want a genius baby?

purplefizz26 · 15/01/2017 18:53

Wow.

Chill out.

Enjoy your baby.

I couldn't be arsed to think that much into things, it's exhausting enough being a parent without that pressure.

Chippednailvarnishing · 15/01/2017 18:53

Well clearly it's genetic. If you are a genius, than job done.

Otherwise, well, unlucky.

LizzieMacQueen · 15/01/2017 18:53

It's too late. It's all in the genres so you should have gone to Cambridge, oxford, or Harvard to find your DH.

3littlebadgers · 15/01/2017 18:58

Love your baby, let them feel secure. Give them consistent boundaries but the freedom to develop. Talk to them about what they are doing and them love them a bit more again. All of this will help them to reach their own full potential.

LizzieMacQueen · 15/01/2017 18:58

*genes

NerrSnerr · 15/01/2017 19:48

Due to HG I lived on cream soda and plain pasta during my first pregnancy. She just turned 2 and I think she's the cleverest of them all (of course she's my pfb). I wouldn't recommend the HG approach though soon because it's shit.

albertcampionscat · 15/01/2017 19:48

What others have said. Don't take coke, read to them, do your best.

There are countless different types of intelligence, though.

Do you want a musical genius? A footballing one? A scientist? A sculptor? A computer programmer?

Just spend lots of time with your baby when he/she is here. Stick him/her in a sling and talk/respond to him/her. Don't leave the baby to cry; increased cortisol (stress hormone) is damaging to a developing brain.

PurpleDaisies · 15/01/2017 21:34

Please don't try and grow yourself a genius. Enjoy the baby that you actually get.

Think about giving them lots of interesting experiences, time to play, good things to eat and happy parents, not raising their IQ.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 15/01/2017 21:34

You can impede a baby's uterine development (certain drugs, fags, excess alcohol, malnutrition) but you cannot boost it.

But trying out all the various theories is an essentially harmless pursuit, so you may as well try anything that takes your fancy.

Perhaps headstands so that the light of a gibbous moon shines on freshly-painted green toenails?

Amandahugandkisses · 15/01/2017 21:37

Just eat well rest and try not to stress. You can't really boost the brain at this stage anyway.

PacificDogwod · 15/01/2017 21:39

Choose your baby's father wisely.

Is your question for real?!

Eat well, stay fit, listen to classical music if you like it and once your baby arrives, you know, interact with her/him, speak to them, enjoy them! An rejoice in how amazingly new babies develop. ENJOY!

Stop fretting.
They are either a genius or they are not.
The are still YOUR child.

Tbh, I think being a genius sounds quite horrifically stressful.
I'd aim for a happy child that reaches it potential.
Job done.

PurpleDaisies · 15/01/2017 21:41

I have tutored some very unhappy children whose parents have tried to turn them into geniuses. Seriously, just be thankful for the child you get.

pepperpot99 · 15/01/2017 21:46

If I were you I'd sign your foetus up for tutoring now. It's never too early.

I'd also recommend entering them for "baby genius" , a new channel 5 offshoot of Child Genius. I hear some people have signed up their babies before they've even had sex, let alone got themselves up the duff.

reallyanotherone · 15/01/2017 21:55

Honestly, being a genius is not that easy ;)

Yes you're bloody clever, but it gets tedious when normal people can't grasp the simplest of concepts. School can be a nightmare as children don't understand you, think you're strange or patronising, and their games are boring. Teachers can't teach you, you end up having to move into older classes and all they go on about is the opposite sex and getting snogged.

Being the parent of a genius is tough as they realise they know more than you by about 6, and refuse to listen to anything you say.

It's not even as if academia pays that well as a career, even at oxford or cambridge. You're supposed to work for prestige.

Be careful what you wish for ;)

PacificDogwod · 15/01/2017 21:59

Sherlock is a genius, isn't he, and he is currently having a rather rough time of it Grin

Lunar1 · 15/01/2017 22:09

Eat cake, don't sniff marker pens and alternate days on a continuous loop between alphablocks and number jacks. You baby will be born already on green band reading books and year 1 maths.
