Ds aged 3 has just broken my smart tv

Talk me down please. I'm freaking fuming, he tried to 'clean' it with Cilit bang which has dripped inside the tv itself. I told him to stop spraying and he just blatantly kept doing it. Talk me down from my only just contained rage......

How did your 3 year old get hold of a bottle of cillit bang?!

Galvanized · 25/04/2015 20:12

What TooTired said! I clicked thinking you meant threw something and smashed it. You're angry at yourself, have a cry later.

gamerchick · 25/04/2015 20:12

How did he get it in the first place? I have to cover my airwaves when using that stuff and then it's rare. It's not a nice chemical.

IAmAPaleontologist · 25/04/2015 20:14

Angry at yourself rather than the toddler I hope. He is too little to understand consequences. Heck his frontal lobe and ability to think through consequences won't fully develop til his 20s!

Just saying no frequently doesn't work, I'm sure you know that.

Best assess how he got hold of the cleaning fluid and revisit your strategies for dealing with him when he is doing something you need to stop immediately.

Sorry about the to, hope you have accidental damage on your house insurance!

anorakgirl · 25/04/2015 20:15

'He blatantly kept doing it'. So you didn't just grab the bottle off him then?

NightsOfGethsemane · 25/04/2015 20:16

Gosh how did he get hold of that? It's nasty stuff and he shouldn't have been anywhere near it.

Still. It's done now. No point going apoplectic.

LIZS · 25/04/2015 20:17

Sorry you need to take a deep breath and realise that you should have stopped him and taken it away. Keep your cleaning stuff out of reach in future.

TarkaTheOtter · 25/04/2015 20:17

Sorry - I agree with the others that this is your fault really.

SurlyCue · 25/04/2015 20:19

I told him to stop spraying and he just blatantly kept doing it.

You mean instead of taking the bottle off him the minute you saw he had it? Confused how very stupid of you! What did you think would happen?

Andcake · 25/04/2015 20:20

What others said I gave a nearly 3 year old and wouldn't let him play with any cleaning products. Why didn't you just grab it rather than tell...
However it may dry out and be ok in 24 hours.

elQuintoConyo · 25/04/2015 20:20

He had cillit fucking bang?

Christ on a rubber bike!

Having trouble getting the cap off the pure bleach? Hmm

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 25/04/2015 20:20

If you found your 3yo with chemicals your first reaction should have been to take them off him swiftly. Not try and negotiate a stop.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 25/04/2015 20:20

Is DS ok? I got a horrid chemical burn on my hand from that stuff.

My sister ruined her links bracelet when it came into contact with it

CaTsMaMmA · 25/04/2015 20:20

just as well he didn't spray it in his eyes then really.

SurlyCue · 25/04/2015 20:23

I used it once in the bathroom and it took the skin off the inside of my nose. It was sore for weeks and kept bleeding. It has scarred and i still sometimes have trouble over 18months later.

SuburbanRhonda · 25/04/2015 20:24

Phone Barry Scott - he might be able to help Grin

Fairenuff · 25/04/2015 20:25

You told him to stop? You didn't leap over and wrench it out of his hands? Oh dear OP, expensive mistake.

Methe · 25/04/2015 20:26

I take it the tele went BANG!

?

slightlyeggstained · 25/04/2015 20:26

He is very little, and probably thought he was being helpful. It's not his fault that toddler "help" can turn out very expensive! Or that they often don't really understand why mummy is squealing NOOOO! and running towards then.

PureMorning · 25/04/2015 20:27

BANG and the tellys gone

midlifehope · 25/04/2015 20:29

Pure morning at least you made me laugh a little. I dunno I've been feeling v grumpy today - from the moment he pooed in kitchen floor. Willing bed time to arrive.

IAmAPaleontologist · 25/04/2015 20:31

Kitchens tend to be a fairly good place to poo, they usually have wipe clean floors.

SurlyCue · 25/04/2015 20:33

Surely it must be past bedtime now? He is 3.

TheCowThatLaughs · 25/04/2015 20:34

You should be grateful he didn't spray it in his eyes. At least it was only the tv that was damaged Smile

meglet · 25/04/2015 20:37

exactly faire. it's a sprint while yelling NO and grabbing it back type of thing. Not a firm telling off!

mine have smashed two tellies . One climbing, one in anger.
