Ds aged 3 has just broken my smart tv

Talk me down please. I'm freaking fuming, he tried to 'clean' it with Cilit bang which has dripped inside the tv itself. I told him to stop spraying and he just blatantly kept doing it. Talk me down from my only just contained rage......

Get him into dusting.
And buy a lock for your cleaning cupboard.

Humansatnav · 25/04/2015 20:44
Hmm
midlifehope · 25/04/2015 20:47

Surlycue nope he keeps going bouncing off walls till gone 9pm every night. You could not get him to stay in bed - believe me

Hmm. After my DS put a rusk in the video and and the remote control down the loo, we got a rental TV. If anything happens to them, they come and replace it.

Is this why people put TV's on walls?

I'm not even going to bother to repeat anything anyone else has said.

Oh dear - chalk it up to experience, but what was Cillit Bang doing in the sitting room in the first place, let alone it being in your ds's hands.

lunar1 · 25/04/2015 20:51

If direct my anger at the irresponsible person that let a three year old near harmful chemicals if I were you.

midlifehope · 25/04/2015 20:51

Beaufort belle you just did repeat what others said

So right OP, it's all about the TV.
So if you want to protect your valuables from your toddler, don't give him anything he can do damage with. Cleaning products, sharp knives, matches and lighters. He'll trash your lovely home and it will be so expensive.

BeaufortBelle · 25/04/2015 20:58

I don't think anyone else has asked what the Cillit Bang was doing in the sitting room - they have asked what he was doing with it in the first place.

Why was it in the sitting room and not in a cupboard he couldn't reach?

bloodyteenagers · 25/04/2015 20:58

As well as the lock for the cupboards, get yourself some parenting classes. Shame it's hard to teach common sense though.

DonVitoCorleone · 25/04/2015 21:00

Mine have also smashed 2 tvs.

Do you have insurance?

TantrumsAndBalloons · 25/04/2015 21:01

Is this some odd attempt at a wind up?

midlifehope · 25/04/2015 21:04

Bloody teenagers - I've completed a parenting course thanks. Ever made a mistake yourself? I expect so. Doubt you're Ms perfect.

Cleaning products are normally up out of reach. I was using it to clean toddler shit off the chair he sat on after he pooped in the kitchen. I turned my back for one second and there you go. I am heavily pregnant and could not move fast enough to get it off him before he sprayed it.

Poor you. My other half and I are sitting here sympathising. It is so easily done. At least the spray went into something replaceable and not in his mouth.

shunashep · 25/04/2015 22:53

Well done on completing your parenting course. You must've missed the bit about keeping your child safe. Surely if you have a smart tv, you've also paid the extra few pounds insurance to have accidental damage cover?

Are you bored?

morethanpotatoprints · 25/04/2015 22:56

Hasn't he done you a favour? Grin
You are being monitored through those TV's apparently.
everything you say and do, BB is watching and listening Grin

OurGlass · 25/04/2015 22:58
Hmm
LittleLionMansMummy · 26/04/2015 08:35

Dniece scribbled all over dsis's tv in crayon at that age. Ds shot a ball bearing at ours and left a small bullet hole shaped crack (luckily you can only see it on a white background!) He didn't do it on purpose though (believe it or not he wanted to find out what happened when you put one inside a vuvuzela and spun it around his head). I tried to hide it from my dh but we've obviously brought ds up to be far too honest so he told him at the earliest opportunity...

LittleLionMansMummy · 26/04/2015 08:38

By the way do you definitely mean cilit bang and not febreze or something? If i used cilit bang to clean up poo it'd burn a hole in the sofa.... ?

NerrSnerr · 26/04/2015 08:41

Better a broken tv then a broken 3 year old I say!

Galvanized · 26/04/2015 08:48

nerrsnerr surely you mean "than"? Or that's a harsh approach. Wink

SurlyCue · 26/04/2015 14:13

Natural consequences Grin

JugglingLife · 26/04/2015 14:19

That'll be an insurance claim then just like the time my then 3 year old attacked ours with a Pumice stone, our tellies live on the wall now.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 26/04/2015 14:28

cilit bang on the sofa?

Is your sofa made of Cast iron?
