Observant dd in bathroom incident...funny

Yesterday I was drying myself after my shower when I realised that dd (2) was crouching down looking up at my fanny from which was dangling a tampon string.....A fascinated little voice piped up,'Mummy is that a present up there?
'It's a special present for mummies' I replied, torn between laughing like a fool and being slightly alarmed at her interest. Ho hum, more to come I guess.

gingerbear · 26/04/2004 15:03

'mummy why has your Noonie got hair?'

gingerbear · 26/04/2004 15:04

Best not get a mooncup then huh?

aloha · 26/04/2004 15:04

Welshmum.

Recently, ds (two and a half) in the bathroom says (delightedly) - "Daddy's got a willy! I've got a willy! And Mummy...(pats me consolingly on leg) ...we'll have to go to the shop to buy you one."

Bozza · 26/04/2004 19:15

LOL Welshmum

Aloha my DS is quite pitying of my willy-less state. And the other day informed me that my friend's baby girl couldn't do a wee because she hasn't got one. If he ends up with a sister he'll become educated on that one I guess.

Lisa78 · 26/04/2004 19:16

DS2 has just been sick - in his daddy's mouth...

eddm · 26/04/2004 19:27

Welshmum your dd sounds like my youngest sister ? except sister tugged! Guess little people can't resist anything dangling

CountessDracula · 26/04/2004 19:30

Thanks for that Lisa!

Lisa78 · 26/04/2004 19:38

Marina · 26/04/2004 23:09

All i can say is LOL ha ha how funny. They do come out with the most funny things at times.

Tommy · 27/04/2004 14:07

This is probably an urban myth but heard of one little girl who saw her aunty naked and said "You've got the same hairstyle as my Mummy"..

KPB · 27/04/2004 14:18

What on earth is a mooncup?

willow2 · 27/04/2004 20:16

My mum, having been caught in a similar situation by my sister, very carefully explained about periods and why she used tampax etc. My sister - about 5 at the time - seemed to have taken it all in. "I see," she said. "So you swallow it."

Sweetiepie · 03/05/2004 15:14

Just to take this on a slightly different line - has anyone got a book about starting periods that they would recommend for a 7/8 year old? We have had a chat when she has seen me changing a tampon, but I'd like something well written and suitable for her age. She's a very good reader so long words don't faze her!

musica · 03/05/2004 15:52

Just after dd was born, I was changing a san. towel - and ds said very comfortingly 'I got nappy too mummy'.

sweetiepie, have a look at Hair in Funny Places by Babette Cole - it says it's for 6 and up.

I was going to suggest Have You Started Yet? which mine have had but I think it's really for slightly older ones. See what you think from the comments.

There are links to other books there too.

KPB, found this on twinkleontheweb

"The Mooncup is a comfortable, cost effective and enviromentally friendly alternative to disposable tampons. Worn internally, the Mooncup collects menstrual fluid without leakage or odour. The Mooncup is reusable for at least 10 years, and each woman only needs one."

Sounds very interesting!

Flip · 06/05/2004 11:03

Tell me more about this mooncup. Any pictures on the web?

has anyone tried it?

mummysurfer · 06/05/2004 17:32

me - it's brilliant.

dogwalker · 06/05/2004 17:33

Glad the mooncup has been mentioned cos I heard about it recently and was wondering about getting one. Perhaps we need to start a new thread unless there already is one. I've got some reservations about it . .
