Hi there...just really would appreciate an answer to the q above??

Oh and just read your most recent update.

What a nasty sister you have, no offence.

It's because she can't control her kids, she wants to make you feel bad. It's really an emotional abuse tactic and I wouldn't give into it in any way.

I bet you are much better with your children than she is. I know I'm a lot better with my daughter than some sighted people I know, who just complain and palm their baby off onto anyone they can

Viasabat Congratulations on your pregnancy! That was me in February, oh man that was an exhausting time. I hope you aren't having too much heartburn.

How many children do you have, OP?

WeAreSeven · 25/09/2013 13:53

Ah, your sister! I don't know why it is that some sisters think they have the God-given right to say whatever hurtful crap they like to each other. She is obviously jealous, that in spite of your vision loss, you still manage to be a better parent than she is.
And she sounds like the sort who confuses brattishness with spiritedness. Very irritating.

whoop · 25/09/2013 15:10

Your sister sounds like she has issues.

Not only can a blind or partially sighted person of course be as good a mum as a fully sighted person, but as DIY suggested up thread, there will be some things that make them a better at some elements of parenting.

Tell your sister she is rude and to zip it.

You sound hilarious, welcome to mumsnet, you'll fit right in.

Aintnobody as parents we rely on instinct: a tool which is present with or without sight. A baby needs love, not perfect sight, hearing or whatever! Do you ever walk with a cane??

It's funny when you send them to nursery in odd socks...at least I can't see the "is she on glue?" looks!!
"No, not on glue
I'm just a B2!!"

Skrybal · 25/09/2013 21:47

Bollockeyes is me btw...sorry if it offends anyone...it started as a typo yday and kinda stuck...do all the peoplewith limited sight- who are following this- take the piss out of themselves like I do??

Ha! And the other day he apparantly had a cheerio stuck in his hair...didn't see that either...

WeAreSeven · 25/09/2013 22:19

Yep, mine have gone to nursery with various foodstuffs in their hair too!
If they are your worst examples of parenting, then you're probably fine!

Bollockeyes · 25/09/2013 22:31

DS plays Being Mommy in pink shoes, his changing bag...and my folded up white cane! He's a sod spirited lol

NicholasTeakozy · 25/09/2013 22:34

Love the new name! :o It sounds like you're doing a cracking job tbh.

Bollockeyes · 25/09/2013 22:49

Your name is cool, too!

Bollockeyes · 25/09/2013 22:52

I mentioned earlier that I never really had an example. I correct...I had tfhe perfect example of how NOT to parent. Now, where did I put that child-catcher net?

AintNobodyGotTimeFurThat · 26/09/2013 10:18

I have used a cane, but don't tend to when pushing the buggy about.

I like the name!

I do take the piss out of myself and those I am close to. A friend of mine who is completely blind I would always tell him to look where he was going when he bumped into me.

He used to tell me to do the same thing, so 'twas all good! :)

Bollockeyes · 26/09/2013 12:19

Ha...I do that to my friend! I don't use a cane when pushing the buggy either. I have a history with canes: 2 down a grid,1 off a high bridge and 1- believe it or not- stolen! Xx

Hi, another visually impaired (registered blind) mum here. DS is just 3.5 months old. I dont use any mobility aids so it's not obvious to others. I would love to have a guide dog, dont need one just want dog and it's probably the only way I would ever get one.
I am waiting for the day someone says something similar to me, just hope I will be able to come up with a good response at the time. I have been accused of faking it to get special treatment in the past because I just get on with it and make the most of what vision I have without moaning.

AintNobodyGotTimeFurThat · 27/09/2013 22:29

Probably wanted to impersonate a blooms person.

Yeah I may get one in future.

brettgirl2 · 28/09/2013 13:06

How about if and when the time comes pointing out to said twunt that raising children with respect and tolerance for other people is a pretty important aspect of parenting. Hmm

The amount of abuse and discrimination that people with disabilities have to endure makes me very Angry
