Did anyone else feel emotional when their PFB got his/her first wobbly tooth?

Or should I go and put my head in a bucket of cold water and get a grip??????????

PFB meant Precious First Born obviously ...

DS is soooooo excited and happy that at last he has a wobbly tooth (one of the last in his class - he is 6 and a half)

And I just wanted to cuddle him and cry Sad - but I didn't of course because he would have been mortified (especially as he broke the news coming out of school and all his friends were milling around, not to mention the other mums Blush)

Soppy old moo aren't I?Sad

:o DS1 has lost 6 + - I've lost track, we haven't found one yet (god knows what he does with them, swallows them I guess).

frogs · 01/05/2006 23:05

Mine have all grown/lost baby teeth v. late. Ds is nearly 7 and lost his two bottom ones a couple of months ago. Now his top two little baby teeth are a bit wobbly -- he's so excited, but I love that row of little baby top teeth in his little big(ish) boy's face...

Sob. Soppy cow I am, specially where my little boy is concerned. He's not even my first, and I genuinely don't have a favourite, but he's my little baby boy.

ScummyMummy · 01/05/2006 23:06

No no don't go- it unexpectedly took me like that too, ghosty.:) I have j's two front teeth in my jewellery box!

RedTartanLass · 01/05/2006 23:06

Hey ghosty, I've still got all my ds1's teeth in a special box, and he's 21!!! Grin Poor wee dd will be lucky if I even notice when she looses hers.Blush

My son d is SO desperate to lose a tooth. He's 2 nil down to his twin so far!

RedTartanLass · 01/05/2006 23:25

cat64 - well done your dd!!! It's horrid when you have no one to boast to Sad. I've got my PILs, but my dad hasn't even seen my dd(6 months) as he's been too busy, so he's not going to be interested that her 7th tooth is just about to pop through!!

Earlybird · 01/05/2006 23:30

DD looks older than her mates because she's so tall. They are all starting to lose teeth, but I must admit to being secretly glad that she doesn't have any signs of wobbly teeth yet. I know I will feel emotional when she loses teeth as it's such a tangible way of leaving her early years behind.

ghosty · 02/05/2006 02:16

Phew - I am soooo glad I am not the only one Smile
I will definitely keep them.
This morning DS wanted to know if his wobbly one was the first that he got when he was a baby, so I had to find his book and show him that it was. He then started working out which order all his teeth will come out Grin.
I told DH that I couldn't cope with it so will just have to have another baby to get over it - his face looked like this Shock

I'm dreading the day! It's bad enough that he goes to school 5 days a week but getting ADULT teeth...long may his teeth be small and healthy.

Orinoco · 02/05/2006 22:19

No ghosty you're not on your own. DD1 is only 5 and she lost her first last week, she's got another that's hanging by a thread...

I think I upset her though, when we noticed it was wobbly and I yelled "nooooooooooo my baby!!!"

Feistybird · 02/05/2006 22:22

My DD lost her first just before she was 5. I wasn't anticipating it for at least another 2 years.

Broke me heart.

Bozza · 02/05/2006 22:39

I wasn't that bothered about it being wobbly but did get slighly emotional when I went in to play tooth fairy and he was sleeping like a baby - my baby and I took out this tiny tooth from under his pillow (having fortunately persuaded him that he didn't actually need to put it inside his pillow case Shock). He is only 5.2 and he has these two enormous second teeth at the front.

blueteddy · 02/05/2006 22:44

I am dreading my DS1 (age 6) having his first wobbly tooth. Lots of his friends have already lost teeth/have adult teeth & I am so pleased DS still has his cute baby teeth.Blush
Loosing his baby teeth will suddenly make him look all grown up & I don't want that!

Ds1's teacher taught them a poem which began..
"My friend and I have just turned 6 and we have wobbly teeth" Used to have me in floods! ( After he had gone to bed!Grin)

ghosty · 06/06/2006 12:40

Firstly, thanks to those who helped me find this thread Smile

Secondly ... DS' tooth FINALLY came out today and he is the happiest boy in the world! I think he may have 'helped' it along by brushing his teeth too vigorously as there was loads of blood pouring out of his mouth but he spent the next hour grinning at himself in the mirror ...
He was a bit sad that DH wasn't here (away on business to the UK) to see it but we took photos and emailed them to Daddy ... Smile

Although I have had 5 or so weeks to steel myself for this eventuality I still wanted to cry when I swapped the tooth under his pillow for a shiny $2 coin ...

I have put the tooth away in a safe place along with his hospital tag from when he was born and the clip from his umbilical cord ...

I keep thinking I am the soppiest mum ever but then my friend told me today that she has written something down for each of her boys EVERY MONTH since she conceived them ... Shock

What is a bit freaky though is, DS' adult tooth has been around for 2 weeks now ... came up before the wobbly one came out ... Shock

ds was quite late getting wobbly teeth - over 6 1/2 with first one and he is now on his first wobbly top one at 8. They have all,and only just noticed this with top one today, had the second one through before the first came out. Tbh I feel no less Sad about the third than the first (except it now looks weird as it is really crooked and will look better out than in ).

oh and noticed this afternoon that is a 3rd tooth loose on bottom with new one already appearing behind. Had thought the top 2 would go first. He also has a facial rash - can they get a teething rash with adult ones!?

Cadmum · 06/06/2006 17:55

I had a big old cry when DS1 lost his front top teeth because I reasoned that he would never look the same again... Blush

Californifrau DS1 was the same as yours. Would not wiggle the teeth or allow them to be pulled out.

DD1 wiggles hers and asks to have them out way before they are ready.

FWIW neither of them actually look very different with their proper big teeth.

foxinsocks · 06/06/2006 17:55

ahhhh

dd has just lost the second of the two front teeth (her fourth in total) and I took pictures to send to all the grandparents! It does look v strange and it does remind me that she's growing up!

The new teeth look so funny and all jagged. It's amazing to think they'll keep these ones for life.
