What time do your kids go to bed?

My DD (20 months) likes to go to bed really early, sometimes at 6. My DS (nearly 6) have always been a night owl even as a toddler and was awake last night when I got home at 10:30 with my DH. We seem to have two extremes. What time would you say is the norm?

My DD (9months)since birth needs to go to bed between 18h00/18h30...she always got very very unhappy if put to bed after 18h30!!!! DH always dreamfeed her at 22h00 and she wakes up between 07h00/07h30. It used to be very tricky when going out to friends for an evening out but now we follow her routine, put her in her cot by 18h30, get ourselves ready and put her in the car while she is sleeping, put her in her travelcot at destination and life goes on... she for the moment doesn't seem to be botheredSmile...

DD1(6), DS(4) and the baby go to bed at 7-7.30 and they're usually all straight off :)

(unless ds has snuck in a nap in the day and then he can be up til 10pm grrrr....)

AllieBongo · 21/04/2006 20:32

dd (1) 18.30 ds (6) 19.00 or bit later at weekend. They both wake up about 7.00am

fredly · 21/04/2006 20:40

my 19m goes to bed at 8:30, until 8am.

NomDePlume · 21/04/2006 20:43

DS1 (14 next month) & DS2 (12.5) - 9.30pm on school night (both DSs have to get up at 6.50am, they have to leave for school at 7.30am)

DD(3.5) - 7pm, she wakes at 7 - 7.30am

dyzzidi · 21/04/2006 20:47

my dd aged 4 months goes down about 6.30 -7.00 and wakes about 9.00am. she does not wake up in the night and i have to cram her feeds in during the day.

Passionflower · 21/04/2006 21:48

7pm is bedtime here, they get up at 7am when the alarm goes off during term time and 8-8.30am at the weekend/holidays. DD's are 5, 4 and 2.

BadHair · 21/04/2006 21:51

7pm up for bath, in bed by 7.30, asleep anytime until 9pm depending on how tired etc. They're 3 and 5.
Up at crack of dawn - 7.30 at latest. Them, that is, I cling to my pillow till 8 whenever possible.

youngmama · 23/04/2006 11:09

6:45-they are all upstairs for a bath.
7:15 all in bed for a story read by me.
7:30 lights out and straight to sleep for dd1 who is 4 and dd2 who is 2.Ds who is 6 reads until 7:45 then its light out and asleep(tho there have been occassions when he has already fallen asleep by the time I go and turn his light out) ds and dd1 wake up at 7am(have to for school so thats ok) and dd2 usually sleeps until 7:30

nooka · 23/04/2006 11:38

Bed time for us starts at about 6.30 on bath nights, 7pm on non-bath nights/weekends. Lights out between 7.30-8ish during the week, depending on how long story time can be extended to! Weekends are a bit more flexible, but I expect them both to be asleep by 8.30. DS is 6 (almost 7) and dd is 5 1/2. They often have to be woken up for school at 7.30, but the lure of the TV (and the wailing of our cat Angry) often means an earlier weekend start (for them not me!). We have aimed for a 7.30 lights off for the last three or so years and it has worked well for us.

MrsWood · 24/04/2006 20:48

Our dd (2.9) goes at 7.30 - 8 pm but by the time she's actually asleep, it can be around 9 pm - depends on how tired she is.

Mercy · 24/04/2006 22:03

dd (5 last week) goes to bed at 7.00/7.30 on a school day. Since starting full-time school I almost always have to wake her up during hte week.

ds (2.2) goes to bed between 6.30/8.30 - depends on whether he's had a sleep in the afternoon and what we've been doing.

fsmail - is your ds not tired in hte morning?

lilianna · 24/04/2006 22:16

ds1 (3)
dd (2)
ds2 (8months)
all go to bed at 6pm get up at 7am

tjacksonpfc · 25/04/2006 07:21

my dd 21 months is in bed by 6pm every night sometimes she asks to go earlier she is up at 6 am and has a nap by 10 am. and ds who is 6 months also goes to bed same time has a feed at between10-12pm then sleeps through till about 6 when his sister wakes him lol. its nice at the mo that they sleep like that as dp is a postamn and is in bed by 9 at the latest so it gives us time together in the evening

elastamum · 25/04/2006 08:27

My two 7 and 5 are upstairs at 7 and lights out by 8. The oldest is a night owl and would quite happily play until 10pm if we let him and I have to wake him up in the mornings. The little one is a lark and up at 6- 6.30am every day Shock

pinkdolly · 25/04/2006 13:00

DD1 is nearly 4 and DD2 is nearly 3. They go up between 7:30 and 8:00pm and 99% of the time go straight to sleep.

belleofball · 25/04/2006 13:31

DS'S.. 10, 7, 4.
All go to bed between 7.30-8.00.
4yr old & 7yr old have story or read by themselves.Usually both go to sleep before i say lights out.
10yr old allowed to read a bit longer, but usually needs to go to sleep sooner and does.
4yr old needs to go to bed earlier but i can't seem to get him there without the other two.(Another thread)

crazydazy · 25/04/2006 13:41

DS almost 4 goes up at 7.30 within 5 minutes he's asleep, I could take him at 7.00 and he would still be the same but avoid this as then he gets up about 6.30.

DD 6 goes to bed at 8.00 on school nights and 9.00 on weekends, she takes a while to get off and doesn't seem to need as much sleep as DS and we find if we put her to bed early she just fidgets about until 9.00 anyway.

MeAndMyBoy · 25/04/2006 13:47

Ds goes to bed at 7.30pm he's 2.10yrs.
If I were at home full time then he would be going to be earlier, but he needs time to unwind from nursery and let his tea go down before going to bed.
He sleeps through to about 7, although this morning he would have slept a lot later but had to wake him up :(

EandCsmum · 25/04/2006 15:01

dd 4 and half and ds just 2 both go at about 7pm. Altho last night were in the bath at 4pm and bed by 6pm!! They have a couple of stories and are both asleep within mins. DD knows not to come in until 7am and always have to go into ds.Sure that will change when he's in a bed!

Flum · 25/04/2006 15:03

one kid aged 2. She goes to bed between 7 and 8 on week nights and whenever we get back from pub (she comes) on a Friday. Then usually about 8 or 9 on saturday. Then 7 again on sunday as has to be up at 7 for nursery.
